I would advice you not to get into any coins listed on exchange currently because the market has pumped, divide your capital into five parts and look for 5 good projects that you believe in.
The coin market reacts to the news. If you follow the news about altcoyin, you can guess the growth.
I have made a mistake when I started this journey of investing in altcoin by not following due process ,I bought some coin during pump and they dump,I could not make any gain even when I was waiting thinking another pump will emerge,I end up waiting and sold some coins with great loss but today my 96dollars investment have rose to 130dollars and this is not bad for a newbie,just make your own analysis and invest wisely.goodluck

I think you should invest in some coin laterEth (etherum) etc (etherum classic) XMR (monero) bcn (byte coin) DGB (digibye)
These coins have the potential to increase value in the coming time. You can refer to the type of coin if you intend to invest long term.
Start small and do a little research. Now that I have had my first decent investment I am looking into my next bigger one. I am still a bit new but have been learning through some trial and error. Good luck.
Researching on your own and investing based on the analyzation is the best way. Dont put everything at once into altcoins as there is no definitive prediction. Start with small and try to hold the coins which you have and continue to buy the one which is showing potential.

Altcoins werr trying their best to not slip away in bitcoin, so they trying to improve services and putting efforts on making alt value higher ,so eventually they can attract more users which still good to invest too especially it shows good development ,we just need to find effective alt.

Go with tested coins to be on a safer side, Golem, Factom, Maid, LTC, and others from top 20 at coinmarketcap can also be good options, but remember to buy when the price is settled around some value, don't buy on pumps. The first thing you have to do before invest your money in an altcoin is know well the altcoin you choose. Read the Whitepaper, how's the business plan, roadmap, who is behind that coin, anything about it. And use your own due diligence to analyze how good is that coin to invest on short or long term. You can't rely on others people analysis.

Only a long time observation on the coins listed to the websites it's possible to find the right coin which gives the profit. So it's on ones own effort to find the right coin and invest. Right now it seems good to make investment on altcoins as lots of altcoins seems to be highly potential.

There are lots of coins which do have potential and mostly are on the top of marketcap but its not always like that because there are still coins on below which do have also potential which we can able to purchase just like on XRP before it give me enormous amount of profits and still growing I think its not to late to jump on the boat on this alt.

Diversify into multiple coins, if you don't know which then you can do so indirectly with iconomi because they are basically like an altcoin fund and they have shown to make good decisions on avoiding shitcoins.

There are quite a few threads where people tell what coins they invested in, i would recommend checking it out. As for me, i would recommend you to invest in Etherium, Darcrus, Iconomi, Stratis and if you want to disperse coins even more, you can also get Ark, Edgeless and any other coins you might find on the threads 
Also, look also some ETH contract coins,there are many of those which is very promising. As of now, NEM and Ripple are doing great. You might inlcude sia coin,eth,litecoin or check the top 10 in coinmarketcap website.
Look at byteball, factom, monero and ether.
