Thanks for the update.  Like ok sitting in the same room with your quiet?

Man  right now I am running two 2 board units. 892 watts.  and 10.3 th.  that is with volts at

8 and freq at 380 0 hardware errors.

fans are at 2100 rpm + 2100 rpm on the loud one  Grin

the other one fans are at

1260 rpm and 1800 rpm.

really quiet.

Now to be fair the psi is a corsair 1500 watt titanium  so that 892 watt reading may be  910 on a aw3++

I realized if I do them with 2 active boards and the low noise fans.

I can include the old loud fans in case of a price spike  these can become a louder more powerful miner.

so  they range from

a low of 450 watts and  5.15 th

to 800 watts and 9 th you must swap fans to go fast.

This is a nice project. So far so good.

Had to use braiins +  could not get bitmain firmware to play nice.

Did FIRST VIDEO  youtube it is  flooded with users so it will take 1 hour to up load it.

Video link

https://youtu.be/U-tLR6sEVQs

Looking forward to the video.  So to confirm, these units have a low power and high power mode but to achieve proper cooling in high power mode the fans have to be swapped out?

I personally would want the lower power and hash rate for less sound.  But good to have the option to make this more of a work horse.

video is up.

you can control volts and freq for both board.

8 volts and freq 380 is nice

8 volts and freq 410 is nice may be the highest you can do the freq at the 8 volt setting.

volts can be as low as 8.0

all the way to 9.40   by 0.1

ie

8.0
8.1
8.2
8.3
8.4

I would switch the fans with volts from 8.5 to 9.4
8.5
8.6
8.7
8.8
8.9
9.0
9.1
9.2
9.3
9.4

freq goes from 200 to 900

anything above 500 will need a better fan.

I will play with these over weekend and have some ready by Monday.

I am now testing volts at 8 and freq at 330

I get 410 watts and 4.7 th about 87 watts a th.

Working low end settings.

8 volts freq of 320 2 boards  gives me 4.5 th at 390 watts that is 86 watts a th.   fans set flat to 55%  1620 rpm

temps are
board     chip
67.75   75.83
68.50    75.63

these are really good numbers.

db in video was 57 now 52.

EDIT:  Just watched the video.  Thanks for putting it together!  Certainly interested in using these for mining and as supplemental electric heat.

Looks like I can use braiins and do 5.7 th at 499 watts stable and pretty quiet.

They will be set up to do 2 boards not one.

I have not been able to get the bitmain firmware to do what I wanted so I went with braiins plus.

at 8.1 volts for each board and freq 410 here are numbers

old info below
Okay I got my first one setup to test.

Decided to use braiins plus and not bitmain firmware.

Although I have a few that can be bitmain.

it looks to be stable at 292 watts and 3.3th
very early numbers here show it just showing up on my pool. so it says 1.5 th I will post more info in the morning.

I hope to have 4-6 ready to ship on monday.

Funny you mention June.  We will be flirting with some record lows here in Alabama this weekend.  I could use those heaters..... in May.  Who would have thought.   Smiley

yeah it got cold here in NJ.

the fans landed on the west coast yesterday maybe I get them by monday.

In theory a ship date for buyers could be friday the 15th.

i will have five or six first batch.

second batch will be five more.

goal is to sell maybe 20 .

Would this unofficially be the most efficient 110V Antminer?  Smiley

well if you are willing to go with aftermarket firmware it can go under 80 watts a th. so i guess that is a yes.

I won’t use anything but bitmain firmware. But if somebody wants to see how low it can go they are welcome to it.

I have been able to drop a braiins down to 82 watts a th.

since this uses lessor fans the fans will only pull about 10+10 = 20 watts at 2800 rpm.

stock fans pull. 25 + 25 = 50 watts at 5000rpm.

the chinese fan seller has claimed he shipped the 10 fans.

so i have 1 working model in clifton

i will be able to build 5 when the fans come.

so first batch will be six units.

the russians were building a passive radiator that does 65 watts a th. uses bit fury chips.

i saw the psu in it and it is a meanwell there is a 110 volt meanwell that would work. so i think they are more efficient.

I am interested as well, how loud are we expecting? Not exactly thinking as a space heater but more as a gekkoscience style desk miner myself.

I have to go back and look at the build thread maybe 45db with an atx psu.

I will use bitmain software july 2019 set to lowest power it does 3300 th.

I will cherry pick boards .
I haven't owned a Sha asic since  the S5, if you plug in one of three pcie could you run a partial amount of the chips? I do remember that they were chained, so I am not sure if this is possible. Would be cool to run one at 100w (at 1/3rd the hashrate)

1 board set to -2th is the lowest on bitmain firmware I was going to use.

I think you could go lower with braiins maybe 2.7th

I have nothing to do I can play around remotely today and see the lowest board I can find. Then when I go to Clifton at. the farm the units are numbered I will know which one to pick.  this is s9 ACG it specs well on lowest setting 2 boards match out well.

this drops to freq 470 and about 3300 a board on lowest setting.
once mod is done fans will be at around 3000 rpm.  I would build it for one board and send a second board with it. the mod will not allow for a second board.  this will pull about 300 watts. depends on the atx psu you use.

here is the one I built last summer-fall
note fans are under 3000 rpm they won't go past 3000 and thus are pretty quiet but of course you can only run 1 board.

Got it, thanks.

How much for 2 of them?  I would like to use the Bitmain APW3++ - 1 PSU for 2 units.

Not sure as The most important part is finding fans..

If I can get a good price on fans say 8 or less. I can make them cheaper.

by having buyer provide psu they are cheaper and you save on shipping.

also 1 board vs three boards cuts weight.

I just ordered 10 fans which will do 5 of these.

paid 66 for the 10              = 13.20 in parts per unit.
foam is 15 does 5              =   3.00 in parts per unit.
some stainless steel screws =   0.30 in parts per unit.

so 16.50 in parts I would like to tack on 8.50 bucks profit = 25.00  plus shipping for a setup 1 board space heater.

that is a lowball price as I could just sell the s9 dirt cheap for more then 25 maybe 60 on ebay.

I don't know how to find the right price as 25 is too low and is giving a zero value for the case, the hashboard, the controller

I think I may try selling it for 40-50 and giving a spare hash board not inside the modded case which will only fit one board.

Also this would really be difficult to decide on correct price since I am selling it more to space heat. And you don't have to do labor to mod the s9 your self.

Once I get shipping info from seller  a Chinese seller I will have an idea of when I get them {10 fans} . And when I can ship to buyers here.

I also have a pricing issue if these become viable miners again.

Ie BTC moons before I take in money and ship.

I am thinking 40-50 bucks plus shipping
you get the  1 board mod with a spare board and you need to supply the psu.

I think I would sell at that price unless BTC moons up a lot. 10,000 and I would ask for more.

I will try to build about 10 of them.  We are talking a may 20 ship date.

Unless of course BTC moons and I can still mine them at full power after the ½ ing

Thanks!  Would these come fully assembled and just need the PSU or require assembly?  I would be interested in trying one during the summer months for solo mining.  We have electric heat and use my R4's now but 2 of these running would produce the similar TH/s for lower wattage.

they would be add a psu.

I would clock them to about 4th and about 320-360 watts depends on your psu quality.
