Thank you philipma1957 for this great review.

I hope you make a review for 2880 server PSU, with some guide on how to soldering the PCI to the PSU with out the need for breakout board if this available.

Thank you.

I don't have 240 volt setup in house to do one of those psu's
I also think you really need that breakout board.

I will say this intel 1000/120 1200/240 server unit is really nice.

I am waiting for pete to post a link for a kit with the breakout board the psu and some pcie wires.

It appears to be perfect psu for the sp20e . This one is the platinum rated one. and at the numbers it is doing it appears to be a platinum psu.

it gives me 775 watts at 120 volts -----------------------------------

my  1200 watt plat seasonic gives me  758 watts  at 120 volts--  this is under .4 kwatts a day or at 10 cents it is 4 cents a day difference in power.

the sp20e is doing 1327 gh  and 758 watts = 0.571213  watts a gh with the platinum 1200 watts seasonic

and intel was doing 1348  and 775 watts      = 0.574925  watts a gh with the platinum 1000-1200 watts server intel.

Based on this testing I recommend the intel server psu and break out board if the price is good. it will push a sp20e to 1350gh very easy and give nice  watts per gh basically = to the watts per gh the seasonic 1200 plat does.    plus it is queiter then the hp 850 was.

His website isn't showing platinum pkg. let alone other server psu's.  Is this available just through the forums?   Huh

not sure he  gave me zero info on pricing just shipped me the gear.

Straight up if he is selling the intel model in the photo does 1000 watts at 120 volts and 1200 watts at 240 volt.  it is very good.

I would recommend it  as a buy if it was cheap.  It appears to do gold or plat numbers and it is quiet.

This will be the psu

Gigampz platinum kit...  will include the psu and a new breakout board. run 2 sp20

the intel is 1000 watt 120 volts 1200 watts 240 volts

'The right to privacy matters'

the intel is 1000 watt

the intel is far better then the hp

it is 1000 watts at 120 volts and 1200 watts at 240 volts

pretty quiet .

I have it hooked up to 1 sp20e and I am getting better results sound wise and watts per gh then the hp

I am a bit busy but I want to show this better over the next 2 days and I will.

This intel server psu and break outboard appear to work better then the hp psu and  breakout board

Does running miner on server psu is better?

Except the difference in noise what is the purpose of using server psu? Price?

Im curious cause Im wondering if I shoud switch to serverpsu.

Let me know!  Grin

well one of these hp's with  120 volt will run a sp20e   at 1343 gh and use 835 watts

an evga 1300 g2 will run  a sp20e at 801 watts

If you are lucky you can get the evga at  150 usd .

The server is cheaper and smaller.

Pete should chime in from gigampz.com let us know the price for 1 hp dps-800gb a and 1 break out board  along with 4 pcie wires  as it is his kit I am testing.

Now the cost of .8 kwatts a day comes to 300 kwatts a year that is 30 dollars a year running a sp20e .  At 120 volts.

I don't have 240 volt but I can do some testing with high quality  transformers they  will allow for higher volts  to the psu and give me a good idea of what the watt improvement is at  240 volt.

I just hooked the hp server to a variac that maxes at 140 volts and can do 10 amps.   so the psu is now on 140 volt power not 120 volt power.

it was using 835 watts at 120 volts at 140 volts watts drop to   827.

I am looking for my 240 volt variac.  Sold the 240 watt variac 2 months ago just remembered.

Well so much for 240 volt testing.

I just hooked up the intel 1000 watts at 120 volts and 1200 watts at 240 volts.

Quiet it is using 120 volts.

I am most curious about the sound levels with these PSU.

Mines quite loud, louder than every other heatsink I have (ignoring SP30/35 ones).

Another nice addition you did.  Will be interesting to see.  Would love to see it beat the plat. psu.  But I'm guessing in gold range.

the plat evga p2 1600 uses 739 watts the hp 1000 watt server used  809 watts.

this was on a 20 amp 120 volt circuit only 1  socket on the line and 10 gauge 20 amp about 3 or 4 feet from the breaker.

I need to check this as 739 vs 809 is a lot it is about 70 x 24 = 1.68 kwatts a day or at my rates of 13 cents 21.8 cents a day more money.

now I switched it out with a evga 1300 g2 running a sp20e  I was using 801 watts running the evga it is using 835 watts running the hp  now that is 34 x 24 =  that is .816 kwatts a day extra or 10.61 cents a day

I consider the psu below to be the  best consumer psu ever made  even better then the CORSAIR AX1500i !!

http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Supernova-Platinum-1600-Watt-220-P2-1600-X1/dp/B00NJG61JQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426303969&sr=8-1&keywords=evga+1600+p2

Almost, but not quite.  Wink I'm using this bad boy to power an SP20E right now, but intend to find a more suitable job for it eventually.

Numero uno... One bad motha

I should note that I would never have purchased that PSU, I got it in a trade for 3 GPUs. If I had a need for a mining PSU I'd 100% go with a server PSU.

I am glad Philipma1957 is doing more types of reviews around here. I like all the pictures and can not wait to hear your review once it is done. I am most curious about the sound levels with these PSU.

Late going to watch Jimmy Fallon with the wife.

I will meter it and the evga's on sat

You're playing with the finest power supplies in existence, nobody makes them better than Delta. I know you'll love them, their build quality trounces anything available to consumers in the ATX form factor. Delta are what every PSU manufacturer aspires to be. I imagine the only downside you'll find is the noise.

Looking forward to actually reading your thoughts instead of predicting them! Cheesy

Edit: Looks like the Dell isn't manufactured by Delta?

Fast thoughts  not crazy loud maybe the 2 small fans help lower the noise.

at 804 watt and 1466 gh the pair of avalons   are giving me .5484  watts per gh.

The unit is not warm  so it  can do a lot more.

I will hook my evga 1600 p2   platinum  up to this tomorrow to compare efficiency

this 1000 watt psu is using 804 watts on this pair of avalon's   and getting 1466gh

I wanted to attach 8 pcie cables the breakout board has 6 post and 6 neg.  So I ran 4x 14 gauge from the positive to a bus bar and attached the 8 pos pcie cables

repeated this on the negative  side

A close up on this psu reveals 850 watt rating  for 120 volt and 1000 watt rating for 240 volt
I am plugged into a 120 volt outlet.  It is a  2 plug outlet  20 amp circuit breaker about 3 feet from the main circuit panel the wires used were 10 gauge.
So I most likely am better then the normal 120 volt rating on this setup.

So the Intel Plat is a plat does an easy 1000 watts close to a perfect match power wise to the 349 usd evga 1600p2 at the 1000 watt level.
   The breakout board is nice.
This demo will be a keeper for me.

The Hp I will rate it gold is also a nice psu the breakout board has smaller screw connectors so I made up my busbar setup in the photos

The Dell is a classic piece of gear did not get to the 900 watt level but did go over 800 watts.  I turned the fan down a bit.   Low cost bronze power rating.

The break out board was nice with larger terminals.

Hoping for some prices here from pete and gigampz.com  The plat package would be very good for some miners at the right price.

The gear came in 3 psu's 3 breakout boards.

well packed double boxed

bubble wrap and peanuts.
