Freaking poker, go go go go go.

I was thinking that someone could make some saloon software that keeps track of what people at the table should pay each other.  Then the players could just pay each other in bitcoin, bypassing any central pot (and therefore no easy target).  The software could be flash or what not, and could be added to any site.

The players would have to trust each other to pay what is due after each hand/round/whatever.  Sort of a cyberpunk meets wild west scene.

That would have some use, but I'd just as soon trust the site or even 1 person at the table instead of having to worry about each individuals rep. I actually really like the host idea. He drums up interest in a game/format/time and holds the cash and takes a cut.

Does anyone know decent play money software that will allow private games and such?

"rent and utilities" is the elephant in the room

Yes -- "Housing and utilities" might be better since it covers mortgage payments too.  Smiley

I added electricity and mortgage, but they are different classes of goods, so the tough choice will have to be made.  Wink

I chose Food/Supermarket but to be honest I'd like to spend them on real estate. Lots and lots of real estate.

What's that website that lists all the services offered in bitcoins ( i mean... not the bitcoin.it).

I look at the links on people's signatures then I can never remember the addresses or where I found those websites

I was originally going to put "office supplies", but I realized that already a lot of the trading going on in BTC is for a more general category of things required to run a business - advertising, web hosting, logo design, etc.  Hard to sum all that up in just a few words.

"Stationary / Office Supplies" brings to mind office supply stores like Office Depot, Kinkos, etc. - in my mind at least.

How about "Stationery / Business Needs"?  That's the first one to come to mind for me, since I'm thinking about starting a small bitcoin-for-cash business when I go back to university.
