Hey guys,

do you have any idea what the "big" ICOs are doing for their advertisement?
Because for me it seems like that they are not simply doing some ads and getting millions in sales.
For me it seems that are having targeted advertisements for big investors .

Does anyone has a bit insight into this matter?

Thank you!

Greetings!

For me its still an open question, I am sure that nowadays the marketing works also about angle investors and it seems to be a different kind of marketing!

The company that assist in making ICO of your project is capable to make a marketing campaign on its own. Or they simply advice you other marketing companies. To be successful you should spend quite a big amount of money starting from some 30-40 k$.

You must take social media seriously, facebook, twitter, reddit, linkedin, bitcointalk all of them are critical. The most important aspect of marketing is to make sure the token has a legitimate purpose and fills a market need. Then you need to communicate that and add social validation. Almost all of the marketing effort takes place before the actual sale event.

Of course they benefit from bitcointalk and not that is defiantly not what I am saying

I started to make a list of companies who are in the business of market your ICO to masses and so far I found:

Full Fledge (Advertising/PR + Legal):

ArgonGroup: https://argongroup.com (Notable work: SALT, STORJ)
SuicideVentures: http://suicide.ventures (Notable work: SONM)
ICO Box: https://icobox.io  (Doing their own ICO)
KickICO: https://www.kickico.com (Doing their own ICO)

Pure advertising:

CoinTraffic: https://cointraffic.io  (Have a special package to promote ICO)

If you know more ressources, please let me know.

After analyze, my understanding is successful ICO have a current marketing budget of $100,000 to 250,000 USD for pure advertising (not including their bounty)

What would be nice to see an analysis of the ICO like Trezos and CIVIC compared to other ICOs because it seems they had simply a different "audience" they were selling it too.
I can't believe that a couple of crappy articles (which aren't being read) will give you several millions of investment.

blitzer, What you said, went right above my head. Did you mean ICOs don't get any benefit from bitcointalk? I thought it is the first place that comes to mind when you try to find people interested bitcoing related things.

The first thing which they are doing is, posting in the right boards here in the forum. Since your topic is related to altcoins, you should move it there Grin
I have seen them advertise in Google AdWords, Bing, Social media platforms like facebook, besides their regular bounty campaigns in this forum.

Really good joke:) Yeah definitely - posting in the right boards must be first step to success

Fire rabit, can you please explain why you think ICO succes depends on forum signature?

He probably means that signatures are the easiest advertisment here, while being quite effective. And if you are unable to run signature campaign, you pretty much cant run anything

Friend, if you want your ICO to be success, you need to pump in a lots of money. Your advertisement should be displayed everywhere. For that you can use mellow ads, cointraffic, bitmedia and bitcoadz. Also don't forget about google ads. Then comes the biggest advertisement, signature campaigns. If you don't have money for signature campaigns, then its 100% sure that the ICO will fail.

They are pumping a lot of money into their advertisements. Some of them already have big investors ready so the sheep will step in straight after the start of the ICO. Sometimes those investments are fake it's easy manipulatable. That's why goverments want more regulation. Advertising wise you must have ads everywhere pretty much. Bitcointalk can give a good covering if you do bounty campaign and all ICO website listings. But if you really want to get seen you have to invest sadly. Else you get overshadowed by someone else advertising everywhere. I recommend to only do this when you are 100% sure you can succeed and you want to put a year+ if your life into this project.

Also, a good idea would be to read all the bounty threads and see what other ICO are doing for promotions. I think it would be really hard to get other people to find that information for you. Perhaps steer you in the right direction but that is about it.

I would definitely pick the top 100 ICO's. First look at their Whitepapers, then bounty programs, slack channels, FB, Twitter etc.

Smiley I also believe bounties should be paid in BTC as well as ALT Coins.

It all depend on personal individual opinion because most ICO want the advertiser to announce their project to the big whales/masses and the ICO owner usually pay their advertiser for the work done but if the advertiser could presume the future of the project and love it. Such advertiser could also invest into the ICO but most the ICO owner usually give them some sort of bonus. That why I said it all depend.

A good Public Relation Officer in their team is needed to have an effective advertisement in the media. A PR Officer is the one who makes meetings and schedules for a TV guesting to inform the public about the ICO, organize a public open forum event regarding the ICO and place an ad in a newspaper and magazines.

As much i have seen the main advertisement in this forum is Signature Campaign paying BTC and social media bounty (facebook, twitter, slack etc) and then giving translation bounty and maintaining the translation till the ICO is finished. This way your ICO will get great exposure and most of the users will also come to know about it.
