This is an interesting question. I'm wondering if these ICO investors already learn from 2017 and 2018 market results. 2017 is a year for crypto hype while 2018 was the opposite where a price correction happened and most ICO ended up either getting their token becomes a trash or discontinued the project. I could say that ICO this year will be different where there will be a concrete rules and regulation to be followed.

ICO Market 2018 vs 2017 : Trends, Capitalization, Localization, Industries, Success Rate
In 2018, 2,284 initial coin offering (ICOs) reached their conclusion and investors could choose, on average, among 482 token sales opening every day of the year. During 2017, the corresponding values were just 966 and 91 ICOs respectively.

then, what will happend with ICO market in 2019, give me your toughts ?
regards

so far there seems to be not much change for the ICO. people are still afraid to invest their money into new projects. even though there are still many new projects starting ICO, but I see the funds collected are still very small

Ofcourse 2017 is better than 2018 which is all altcoins grow up in 2017 and decrease in 2018 so much money they waste by trusting and holding altcoins they expected to continue to pump but it's not happened.

The difficult and difficult things when investing in the ICO project are too many fraud projects compared to our thinking, I always have to choose and analyze very carefully before participating in a project, too difficult to be assured of the project in ICO. Hope this year 2019, they will overcome this minimum problem  Shocked

I think numbers will drop further in 2019. I hope it will be because of the increase in quality start ups, and also the increase of knowledge of standard ico investors. I hope they will not fall prey that easily like last two years. I also think further regulation will make sure most scams will not take place (as easily as before).

That said. I wouldn't be surprised to find out a lot of solid start-ups have simply been waiting with their launch. Maybe they have tried to colled means through private funding and are already building (in secret, no hype). They may launch their case as soon as the bull arrives, and perhaps they will be able to pick up speed really fast by then. A successful ICO was often nothing more than a certain set of requirements (executed proper).

ICO market conditions in 2017 with 2018 are very different, when in 2017 there are so many ICOs that can be successful and have very high selling prices, but towards 2018 there are so many ico who are scam, sometimes fail and even though the price is not too successful expensive and very cheap, it's really sad that very miserable years are in 2018.

In 2017 the hy[e of bitcoin just ignited ICO market as well, there are lot of ICOs who made millions while seeling never getting listed yet but in 2018 the prices fall drastically so may projects have been paused until the prices will get regain so we may see 2019 with more projects also with those paused saled getting resumed.

I believe is better ICO market in 2017 most of the ICO are successfully launching their ICO price in the market because at that time crypto market was not suffering of falling their prices and many ICO market are not been affected of it.

I think you have the right idea about this, that the 2018 ICO has reduced many fraud projects and been cared by investors more than in 2017. I hope that in 2019 it will continue to be developed. follow this progress of the previous year  Wink

ICOs are risky, many of them are pure scams, and all of them are useless because none of them have ever done anything. all they do is create a useless token and get paid for it just to stop working the day they receive the payment. in other words they are getting paid for a one time job!!!

this flawed model is doomed to fail. which is what has been happening from start of 2017. people no longer trust them specially since they stopped being profitable but also because they start to realize how useless they all are.

The distinction between the cryptocurrency market and the ICO in the year 2017 compared to the year 2018. The year 2017 was purely triumphant and bitcoin increases and other coins happened and in the year 2018 was concentrated in bitcoin and cryptocurrency.

The ico trend follows the market chart, if there will be a big bullrun to create alot of FOMO and that will push the ico market at the same time. Remember ico market depends on the hype and that will be so easy to take a conclusion if ico market was following crypto market.
I am not pretty sure for this if the success rate of every ICO depend on the market trends. If the team has a good, positive and confident in promoting the project like having a good strategy, connections and good marketing may not be the reason for a project to fail. It is just that investors are not trusting already the market or any ICO projecta because of the number of scammers and a scam projects.

I don't think there would be much different in 2019 about ICO compare to 2017 as the market seems to determine how they perform in the long run, market this year will still be a bit sluggish but might be a bit better as 2018 was total lost but expecting this year to at least have some gain with the price of market now and that will go a long way with ICO too.

It will continue as usual and it wont be stopped. I think even the SEC will red flag them, there would still be attempts to do so.

For 2019, I think very few people/investors would be engaged with this type of investment.

If we compare both those, we will end up 2017 as a successful one while in 2018, there was a lot of scam ICO. Anyway, I think STO is going to take the place and ICO will no more be used hugely only because of the fraudness. So, I can't expect something good for ICO in 2019.

In 2017 ICO's were genuine and a lot of project met the soft cap and their project got succeed similarly in 2018 it was reversed like lot of scam projects got involved and the value of crypto coins were heavily bombared by big whales. let's believe this year there will be lot of descent project of ICO's.

the difference between the ICO market in the year 2017 and the year 2018 is very far from the year 2017 is very high and ICOs are great for that person. While in 2018 it is not good for Ico because of the fallen cryptocurrency market.

I think that ICO is still at the beginning of its way to success. To achieve it, needs two things: investors education and legal regulations.
Education is needed, so that investors, do not blindly believe every man met that his idea will succeed. They must learn to analyze ICO.
Regulations are needed to protect investors' money from scammers and later to punish these scammers.
When these two things are achieved, the ICO will have an open road to success.
I agree the scammer should get a punishment so that there is no repetition. ico is still valuable as long as investors believe that ico has a future, at least products that are useful in the long term.

There will be no stopping ICO this year, imho. We will see the same pattern, lots of useless projects coming along, scams will continue, but there will be a lot of successful and good projects to come.

I tend to believed that the market is not yet saturated, there will be projects that can have real life usage specially in the field of medicine, renewable energy sources, logistics, supply chain and even gambling industry.

The difference is that ICOs became stale because of how many ICOs were created and that most of them were scams. 2017 was the year of the ICOs because people are only focused on few that have potential and that the budget of investors was probably focused on those ICOs only.
