Yes, some exchanges label Bitcoin as XBTC, the X is often used in forex trading, for example, gold is labeled as XAU.
The X means there is no nation behind. (the U.S. dollar could be labeled XD if the USA were not behind)
just a trading label but true not a lot of crypto exchanges are using. Glad your got access again to your account héhé

You can just use the pair ETH/BTC instead to convert ETH to USD then USD to BTC
The USD/BTC pair is just at the top

Ans for your invalid details you're not the only one, seems there is a "bug" from time to time, try to contact them here on their topic or their website
Very helpful, thanks! Tried signing in today and finally was able to access my account. Also finally got tier 2 verified in less than a week so Kraken is pretty fast compared to other exchanges.

I was confused due since they named BTC XBT, instead of BTC. Weird, but I guess I gotta get used to it.

Thanks for the help everyone!

I've just made a kraken account and after depositing 1k worth of eth and returning 12 hours later, I can't log in. I have 2 step set up and I know my password and username is correct since I just reset it... It just says "invalid login" after I log in.

Also, I traded the eth for USD, but I can't find a button to change that USD to BTC, some help people?

True contacting their support team? Not too sure if they have live chat, but with a check. You might need to create another account for this if you still have trouble.

Also, try clearing your browser cache or accessing it on a different device and different network. (4G or wifi should do the trick.)

What is the basic verification that you guys are talking about? Is it just putting a number in, a real name, email etc or do you still need to put your passport number but just no photo id?
You just need to submit your real name, address, and birth date, nothing more. They will verify it, if passed you'll be eligible to withdraw max .4 BTC worth per day with 2FA enabled and you'll be fine without doing the Enhanced verification.

Read this thread, it's full of complaints about bittrex basic verification failing.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bittrex-ignores-thousands-of-clients-2465829

Judging by the complaints in there it seems unlikely basic verification will work for anyone who's not a US citizen. Bittrex recently changed it's terms, so everyone has to verify before being allowed to withdraw. Small withdrawals are no longer allowed for unverified accounts.

I'd make sure verification works for you before depositing anything.

uh, basic verification doesnt work for US citizens either. my 4 year old basic account had its withdraws reduced to zero because of "no matching public records" which are perfectly accurate. stay away. bittrex is a joke.

Okay, so that makes bittrex a big no-no. Can't believe the number of posts and angry people in that thread, gonna steer away from that...

I'm going to make make a kraken account now, can't believe that you don't need id even for fiat trades. Hope my tokens get on Kraken soon...

Kraken doesn't have complaints about its KYC procedures, but there are lots of complaints about its performance. It was constantly offline throughout November during all the volatility. It's a good place to dump some USD and wait out a correction, or maybe enter and exit swing trades during low volatility. But I wouldn't day trade there. Really shitty trading engine.

I hate KYC myself, so it sucks when my coins aren't listed on Binance, Bitfinex, Shapeshift or Changelly. Those are my go-to services (in order). There's unfortunately still lots of markets that are mainly only available on Poloniex or Bittrex. I don't put more than a few thousand dollars at risk in either account. If my accounts get locked, I'm gone....

I'm using poloniex for exchangers between currencys.
Cashing out from polo also has really low fees and the verification process for 25k daily withdrawal is very good if you don't manage huge amounts.

I personally use Kraken to trade BTC <-> fiat, but I know that they offer crypto <-> crypto as well.

I am not sure how all verification work with them, but for me, I can withdraw like 8k EUR in a month without having to send anything in. I had to fill in my address, birthdate and name, but to date I never had to provide actual proof.
Damn that's really good. I'll probably only do crypto to crypto trades but it's good to know I can sell for some fiat also without having to withdraw.

How long do the withdrawals take for you? Fiat and crypto wise? Is there a fee for fiat withdrawals and how long does it take to show up on your bank account

Withdrawals to my NL SEPA account take usually 1 - 2 business days.
For me, fiat withdrawal has a 0.09 EUR fee.

I can't say too much about crypto withdrawal, but I can't imagine it takes super long.

Hi everyone, I've been using hitbtc as my main exchange for around 3-4 months now, mostly since it doesn't require id verification for changing crypto to crypto. I've been checking around the scam accusation board and I've seen quite a lot of reports against hit btc so I'm looking to change exhanges.

most of the altcoin exchanges have similar complaints and accusations. the complaints about bittrex seem to vastly outnumber any other exchange at this point. it seems to be okay for US residents, but i would steer clear otherwise until there is more clarity about all the locked accounts.

What is another exchange where I can trade crypto to crypto? As low fees as possible of course.  Smiley

binance seems to be edging out the competition these days. bittrex and poloniex are both facing scaling and regulatory issues (accounts/withdrawals being disabled for KYC, etc). binance requires no verification and despite all its recent growth, their trading engine performs really well. the main drawback is that they don't offer enough coins for my taste.

added bonus: binance has referral commissions. so you can farm your own referral. Tongue

Just tried out bittrex and this happened

Thanks.

Try bittrex Sir. The fee is 0.001 every withdrawals I have been using this 9months already. The interface is very user friendly too. There no identification needed too.
0.001 withdrawals? That's close to 20$ per withdraw. I won't be doing any trade over 5k so that's a bit pricing, but I guess I gotta get used to it.

I'll check out Binance and Polenix later.

Thanks everyone!

Binance is good, you don't have to do verification unless you want to withdraw more than 2 BTC daily. bittrex is no good(for those who don't like to give their ID), at some point they'll force you to do full/enhanced verification. if you're fine providing your ID, then bittrex is good.

Bittrex and Poloniex are the best alternatives. I believe that Bittrex now ask for information's (just fill your profile) but no need for ID or residence proof.
It depends on the situation in Bittrex. If ever you passed the Basic Verification by filling out the form, there will be no problem. However, there are scenarios that your data will not match with any of their records so you need to do the Enhanced Verification which require an ID and Selfie in order to withdraw any amount.

@aTriz if you'll be using Bittrex, try the Basic Verification first to check if you'll pass before sending any coin.

To follow up on the above, I can confirm for Bittrex. I have basic account approved and can withdraw crypto without any problems. I believe the enhanced account is needed in order to withdraw amounts greater than 100 BTC or equivalent per day.
