And here is a user testimonial : I have used your site a while ago, I don't remember encountering usability or functionality issues, but I definitely remember that your design striked me as being pretty unpleasant. And it's a well known fact that the user perception is never rational and objective, it's influenced by purely subjective factors such as color, layout etc.

So maybe instead of "demanding documentation" and feeling threatened you should use this opportunity to improve and gather user feedback in a friendlier way.

Just my 2 bitcents, take care Smiley

I think what the Bidding Pond user is mad about is less the claims that the site's UI isn't entirely pleasant, but Charlie's claim that many users were unsatisfied with the site's service. There's a big difference between the two and I can see why he/she/it would definitely want to request documentation, both to get to the bottom of any potential problems and to protect the site from unfounded but potentially damaging rumors.

Stating that your user experience with someone's site was less than idea is totally fine. Stating that many people were unsatisfied with and have complained about a site's service, without the ability to back up this assertion, isn't.

Bidding pond dude,

I don't think you should feel threatened by competition, its a way to help you grow and also its a way to improve your website to "better ours" though i do say this, i am a very good web designer and am going to put a lot of effort into the design... which is not much i an say for bidding pond...

Emphasis ours.  Your experience does not make other user's experiences unsatisfied.  We would like proof of "many complaints and users being un-satisfied".  Otherwise, what you are doing is libel.

We would also like to see a screenshot of the "out fields"(what is that) "big box for the featured items and having nothing for about 2cm down"(we don't notice this on the configurations we test).

The first item is the most important and we don't want quibbling over non-relevant details.  You have made a very bold claim and we would like you to support it with documentation.

What this makes me think about :

I know but i HATE the design, the feel and the general layout of the site as well as many complaints and users being un-satisifed..

Sources?

i have visited your site, signed up and had a look around... i don't like it at all... the design is terrible as the fields are out and the actual graphics are pretty bad too as well as there being a big box for the featured items and having nothing for about 2cm down..

I don't mind giving a hand and donating some hosting.
But first I have a couple of things on my list :
 - a killer feature for bitcoin-central.net
 - a web interface to jgarzik's open source pool

ok well i'll start writing up a full idea and working on names and a logo etc Smiley

Here you go, please indulge in a delicious github wiki : https://github.com/davout/bitbay/wiki

If you have a github account I'll add you as repo collab

Started working on the wiki already Smiley

You could use:

BitBid
BitBuy
BitDeals

I haven't checked availability on any of those, just thought I'd throw them out there for consideration. I'd like to help, btw. I have some experience putting together websites.

Yeah, I think he meant programming language.

Nice names might use 1 in the future Smiley

One big issue you'll need to deal with is currency fluctuation - I remember watching an auction on BP for which someone walked away with something that was~$2 when they entered their bid and was ~$10 when the auction finished. You'd beat bidding-pond if you offered currency options built into the auctions...
I understand that and i believe its not to hard to link the Market and charts in, i had an idea where a bid auto-ajusted to the value of a BTC - USD after the currency had changed over night and when you placed a bid it would show how much that bid was in USD at the time anyway Smiley

I can help with hosting and know a few graphic designers. I haven't gotten around to opening up a skype account yet and I still spend most of the day at my "day job" but I respond to PMs and emails pretty quickly most of the time.

I don't do PHP, sorry

I meant i know PHP, but like i said we would have a skype dicussion about what code it will be in, the logo, the colour scheme, the system itself and all that kinda stuff once i've launched a full idea and have research etc to back it up, if you'd like to join us please do, we would be very interested Smiley

Also if anyone has a server they can host our site on that would be FANTASTIC we would hopefully pay you something like 1 BTC a month which isnt a lot but its good enough Smiley
