This all depends on what you believe. Some people invested in bitcoin because of the hype and not really know what bitcoin is all about. And there are believers.
Anyone who's read my posts here knows I'm pretty much still a novice when it comes to understanding the technical aspects of crypto, but that doesn't exclude me from being a bitcoin user and supporter. You don't have to be a mechanic to drive a car, in other words. I didn't buy bitcoin because of the hype, but I saw that it was becoming more than jut a fad, which is what I thought it was for a couple of years before I actually bought some.
Nowadays my budget is pretty constrained, so I don't have a lot of fiat I can convert into crypto, but I'm still a bitcoin enthusiast, and that's what keeps me coming back to this forum. I guess you could call me a believer. But you're right, there are many folks here who couldn't give a shit about bitcoin. It's basically just a way to earn money through spamming, whether it's here on bitcointalk or on social media. The only positive thing about that is that it does get people involved in bitcoin.
That might be really, really bad for the forum, but I can't deny that it's good for the crypto economy. On the other hand, I don't think it exactly makes lifelong crypto supporters. If they lost the ability to earn here, they'd lose interest in crypto altogether.
