There are pros and cons, the pros are cryptocurrency will not have been so popular and we will not have more companies joining because of ETH smart contract it was made possible, the con is we will have very less scam project because very few companies will do an ICO.

That is not reason from Ethereum system, when any new field or technology are launch, they all have the initial difficulty and smart contract of ETH is too. That is new revolution and will very neccessary in the future but now, it is being taken advantage of, because it has not been completed immediately yet
