It is the hardest way to stop Bitcoin as the network does not depend on internet providers alone to stay active, you can use satellite internet, encapsulate the connection through a second layer or any of the methods to complete the synchronization.

The easiest way is to impose uniform regulatory restrictions that weaken the mining pools and then create centralized mining pools with blacklists.

In theory I’m thinking that all internet providers could effectively terminate anyone running or executing code relating to Bitcoin and then subsequently this would take it offline.

I like your imagination, but that’s not necessary. If you want to see Bitcoin die in the future, regulation is the key. If governments worldwide declare Bitcoin illegal and enforce severe penalties, such as serious jail time for anyone caught using it in any way, people will stop using Bitcoin.
That's another imagination that can never happen. I don't see all government coming together for a particular reason as to declare Bitcoin illegal this can only happen if the world is under one power and that is still far fetched. Also Bitcoin has gotten so much adoption that if you want to lock up Bitcoin enthusiast there might not be enough prison facilities to handle that and also top government individuals are already now involved in crypto-currency. In a nutshell those imaginations are impossible.

This is purely theoretical
While some might see it as a threat others might see it as an opportunity
So getting a unanimous decision to ban Bitcoin is highly unlikely especially with its popularity Now.

It is possible for powerful entities to make Bitcoin much harder to use and disrupt some part of the network
But completely shorting it down is extraordinarily difficult
Because of it's decentralized system, alternative method to communicate and it's current trend of global adoption.

Do not forget that Tor can be used to mask it. Many nodes are connected to Tor.

Which is not possible as more people are liking bitcoin. These people included leaders, regulators and everyone. Bitcoin is designed in a way that more people will like it.

If the powers that be wished to execute Bitcoin off the face of the earth, they effectively could but it got me thinking that this would elevate it to another level of power.

Unless the satellites were to be rocketed up by Tom dick and Harry or however they make the internet possible? Does this make sense?
