IF war with China should happen this summer with the UNited States,,, could China hack Bitcoin if it had to regardless of cost?

I don't see how these two are connected. Why going to war has anything to do with a 51% attack? While the latter is theoretically possible (but it's so costly and would have such disastrous effects on economy that I don't think anyone will ever attempt that), it can happen without the war with the US. And speaking of the war, I am more than sure it won't happen. The war needs resources, and the world is getting into the global economic crisis right now. Not to mention how the pandemic could play out with armies moving around. And some said it would go nuclear, but it's also not necessary. While they both possess the means, they also understand the outcome of using those means. So even in case of a war I don't think there's a big chance of nuclear missiles being used.

A 51% attack on Bitcoin is possible since China owns most of the mining pools right now but I don't think that they will get any benefits from it.

AFAIK those mining pools are only technically located in China but the govt doesn't control them. Pretty sure if something goes awry then those farms will prolly find a new place to mind in peace.

You did consider WW3 as a factor but not a threat, if ever two superpowers would go to war at each other then, data mining and bitcoin would be out of question because that war will ensure total mutual destruction and what happens when they both use their nuclear capabilities...

That's right, if there was a war between China and the United States, it would actually mean the beginning of World War 3, in which there would be hardly any winners given the types of weapons that the two countries possess today. Bitcoin would become quite irrelevant in the event of a world war, people would save lives and the internet would become inaccessible to many.

However, a world-wide war is very unlikely, because it costs a lot, has extremely destructive consequences for the economy and society, and given nuclear weapons, it would probably take us back to the Stone Age. I think the world’s superpowers have a much more important job this summer than the war, and saving the economy is currently the number one task.

Instead of doing it, they will just let Bitcoin be. I don't think that Bitcoin can be hacked right now but who knows in the next decades Cheesy. One thing more is that US and China are somewhat fighting with each other right now but I don't think that it will start a new war between them. Anyway, lets just hope that it will not happen or it could start the 3rd World War. :X

1.A war between China and USA will never happen. They are both too dependent of each other.
2.If such war happens,Bitcoin would be the last thing China would care for.
Bitcoin is still too small and taking control over the Bitcoin Core blockchain won't damage the US economy at all.
The only people and businesses that are about to be damaged by this move would be the Chinese mining farms and the Chinese companies that produce and sell mining hardware.

What will be the motivation of China to do that? I think attacking Bitcoin Network won't benefit them at all.

If they want to get more bitcoin, then it's useless because people will sell their bitcoin immediately if an attack like that happens. But if they just want to mess up the network, what is the benefit for them?

I'm not really sure about that, even we still don't know for sure about where the coronavirus came from. At least I still haven't found a journal/legit source that states that clearly and it will be very helpful if you tell me if there is.

Firstly, I have no idea how Bitcoin entered the scene between the war between those two countries. Secondly, define what you mean by "hack". The 51% attack is possible yes, but most likely would not happen. Other than that, I'm pretty sure it's close to impossible for BTC to be hacked. That is unless China hides their own quantum tech. Also, the Chinese government hates(or at least has negative sentiments with regards to it) Bitcoin, hence they themselves pronouncing their very intentions to adopt blockchain technology in their country and the production of their very own cryptocurrency or the so-called digital yuan.

What do you mean by "hack bitcoin"? If you mean it is about the 51% replay attack, the short answer is it is possible. Most of biggest bitcoin mining pools are located in China mainland. However it is only the short answer.

Chinese government acts like a dictator so they can almost do anything they want in their nation but the fact is they recently emphasized about their ambitions to build up a good blockchain-based industry so it will be odd if they take over bitcoin network and do replay attacks. Bitcoin is decentralized and publicly for all globally so if there are anthing wrong in China, and come from Chinese government, their reputation will be destroyed more. It is not what they want to have after so many offensive activities on them globally.

The world nowadays is much different than 10 years ago so the government will not be able to hide and cover all of their shit shady actions (if they do that).
