Slava Ukraini!
I never thought about it. In my opinion Bitcoin is perfect name and I wouldn't be able to create something better. Satoshi is genius not only because that he created this currency, but he also chose perfect name for it. It's simpļe, easy to remember, it's sounds good.
Now I'm thinking about alternative name for Bitcoin and nothing comes to my minds. I can't even make some strange or funny name.

Bitcoin is a pretty good name, but let us say the entire network got fucked up somehow, and satoshi ask you, what do we call the new bitcoin that can`t get fucked up (which is still just bitcoin).

What would you call it?

I would call it Ecfasnpuaoiltfc

Electronic Cash Fast And Secure No Printing Unlimited Amounts Of It Like The Fiat Scam

or FTF

Fuck the Fed
Well, I really don't see how the name can be decisive when something gets or doesn't get messed up. Anyway, if we're talking about naming, it's widely considered important that the name is easy to pronounce and spell. It's a marketing move. It's hard for me to imagine someone buying some Ecfasnpuaoiltfc. FTF is better, it's easy and catchy. But, I bet the govs wouldn't like it, and some people would avoid it because of rudeness. I'd choose something like ODC for the new Bitcoin. ODC stands for Original Decentralized Cryptocurrency.
Edit: just realized it kind of sounds like Odyssey which is foundational for Western literature, and the coin is going to be foundational for the Western economy.

I think there is no issue with regards on the name, bitcoin is enough, it represents the bit on the computer and the coin as portraying with the currency so I dont see any reason for us to change the name.

As odd as it may seem, I'm quite comfortable with Bcash. It rolls off your tongue quite easily regardless of where you come from, and is a very bendable property. It could become wildly popular if pushed hard.

People's use of Bcash within the crypto community obviously has a negative connotation to it, but it doesn't really have to be. If I was Roger Ver I would try to leverage this whole situation and turn it into something positive.

I'd name it something very simple - netcoin. That would be an abbreviation for internet coin. Bitcoin's concept is quite similar to what Peter Thiel and the entire PayPal team was trying to create in the 1990s to ease transactions and reduce theft.

A name that shows that it depends on internet (and electricity) wouldn't be bad.

This scenario is unlikely to happen, but since many are posting a new name I will rename is as Bitscoin I just added the letter "s" so the name still remains the ticker will be BTCS it's already has a ticker with another Bitcoin fork but this new Bitscoin name will emerge the winner, as it has all the elements of the real Bitcoin.

don't bother.
for 10 years there has been more than 10000 coins with as many names created and none of them had a name nearly as good as bitcoin. it just says it all! there are some altcoin names that come close like Dogecoin but only because they describe the purpose of the coin well enough (joke coin).

I would not like to change the name, no matter what happened. Bitcoin is already a household name and it has become a brand name in the industry, so changing the name would cause more confusion and more damage than what has been done to it previously.

Bitcoin is Satoshi's legacy to the world and history will always reflect that Bitcoin was the first true Crypto currency that changed the financial industry. Let's respect the name and think about the sacrifices that Satoshi had to make for Bitcoin to succeed.   Roll Eyes

I will call it "cashdroid" if I want to retain some of its  geeky aspects or I will simply call "fiat-killer" or the "government-nightmare-cash"

Fairfiat - Honestly, its hard to change the name of bitcoin right now because he’s famous already but if you would like to create another currency then you can consider my suggestion is pretty good and fair to me.

Sounds catchy! Mass adoption, here we come! Tongue

I never thought about it much, but the choice of "Bitcoin" for the name was fantastic. Nothing comes close for me other than Nick Szabo's "Bit Gold."

I would name it CoinBit, so it will still sound Bitcoin, it will still sound Bitcoin and all the letters are all there and it's easy to remember, but I doubt the scenario will happen, it's too stable, but who knows, but in case CoinBit is a perfect name with ticker CTB.

Maybe "Timebits"?

What do you think? Is that good?
