This is true for others, it pays to have research. Just going with the flow, or following what other dictates just because of the growing trend does not guarantee you of a good investment. Although taking risk to test out the viability of investing to altcoins could be beneficial, you still need to learn from credible sources on where to put your investment to (financial articles, YouTube videos about bitcoin/altcoin, etc.). Remember, the prices are volatile and could change against your favor.

Don't risk your capital because the altcoin is fame in your country. Also, don't trust people who persuade you to invest your money. Don't trust the way their flowering words. Make some research about the altcoin the you will invest your money. Decide several times before you do. At the end, it is on your hand if you will become successful in your investments. If you will invest because a FRIEND only told you to do so then don't give a damn. Investment is a matter of choice and it's your own. What you will invest is your own capital and I would not let anyone decide for me.

If these people are really known in your country to be reliable sources of investment ideas and advice, then perhaps it is wise to listen to them and try out some of their suggestions and recommendations. But why do say that they have so much power? Do you mean to say that these people are influential enough in terms of financial decisions and undertakings? Because there are also a lot of famous financial analysts and market speculators around.
People who tell other people what exactly to invest in only exist for pumps and dumps.
