According to the last vehicular statistics that was taken in 2018 (i.e 5yrs ago), I'm made to understand that Nigeria has over 11 million registered vehicles, which I'm sure by now that number must have doubled or tripled. But however, let me just assume the number is still 11million, which means if that 11million is to pay #1k annually, that means the Federal governments will be generating #1000 X 11million = #11billion alone from people proving they actually own the car they are driving. Of which to me is not a big deal if only by next year, that 1k will not be tripled to 3k or 5k annually, and yet the money not used to ensure that our roads are worthy of use for our Nigerian drivers nation wide.
The question der na say dis money na fixed rate or them go wake one morning change the amount? I no just know why Nigeria Sabi bring irrelevant laws. That means dis na new pattern to discourage car owners or potential ones

The concern wey one of my padi raise be say, hope say after you don pay the money finish for the document, you nor go need pay again if you go Lagos or Jos or change geographical location? Because all these rogue officers fit talk say, the one you pay for Lagos dey different? I don hear di news since yesterday, FG say everyone wey get motor go pay 1k annually. Wen I hear d tori, di thing really surprised me, because I was expecting di presido to remove pains from di people and not to put more injury to di body. Instead of the president to make things easy for the people to use but weti im dey do I no come understand am again. Now di thing wey I dey see here from the government matta now, na property taxation nai im won introduce, and that thing e no go work for this country again. The move no bad at all, 1k annually proof of ownership of otheyhicles will help in a lot of ways that we can't put in writing on this thread, and it is useful to both the revenue generation and security within the country can't be overemphasized because a lot of Cars on Nigeria roads are not registered to an owner or even if their registered, most of them are not being used by the actual owners, so for that if the policy of annual renewals of car ownership is fully implemented it will checkmate a lot of things and the number of unlicensed cars will reduce and crime can be caught down to the minimal level.
I believe in the revenue-generating mechanism of the present government led by President Tinubu, just like he did in Lagos during his tenure as the governor I believe the same approach will be employed at the national level to burst our internally generated revenue, so aside from the advantages mentioned above this policy will also boost our internal revenue income.
But in Nigeria anyone can own as many car as possible but still pay no tax on it. Am not justifying this case but I am pointing out some of the obvious reality we enjoy.

₦1000 is not much of a big money that someone that owns a car cannot afford within a period of 1 year. For every new policy that the federal government is introducing it must have been scrutinized carefully before giving the approval. If it has no positive impact it wouldn’t have been implemented.

As long as say na FRSC issue out the document,you go fit use am anywhere wey you dey for Nigeria because na federal government document e go be no be state. This one na another big problem for the country most federal roads dey abandoned like say nobody dey use the road. I remember the last time wet I go Aba from PH,omo na mud be the federal road wey them come put big stones for ground so that cars go fit pass. Na so all my ass pain me and the journey come slow because you no go fit run speed for stones. Tinubu need to do something about our bad roads. I like the fact say we dey see am very clear but we no really know were the wind dey blow go but I believe say for sure say Naija go better. People in other countries pay ridiculous taxes on ownership of cars this taxes can be very high and make those who can actually afford more than one car to cut it down to one.

Well said, but also remember to say the reason why these countries task so much na because say their economic support am and it is good. You no go fit do the same in a country where the costs of living dey continuously grow with each passing day and very few opportunities dey in place. What of the average taxi driver wey dey try to ends meet? If Tinubu really get the hearts of Nigerians at heart, not just the elite, him and his government suppose put things in place to absorb some of the side effects wey their new policies get on the average household.

Owning to the fact that this has been implemented and would kickoff by July, I hope and pray the money tax is been channeled into the right place for the betterment of the vehicle owners that ply the road everyday (in terms of good road construction for its residents).
