Having funds on gox was a stupid idea?
Tell me about having them on BTC-e and bitstamp.
No one even knows who are the guys behind BTC-e and bitstamp is as shady as BTC-e, ever heard of bitstamp assets seizure by the DHS?
Ever heard about those transactions cancelled because they were deemed "high risk", no way I'm trading on such an exchange.
Ever heard of BTC-e selective scamming?
Chinese exchanges? When we see okcoin faking their trading volumes, we've got to worry.
Besides to trade on these exchanges you need a chinese ID card or passport...
Kraken looks relatively good though it had minor problems, plus it is a relatively new exchange.
The only one that seems honest is CAvirtex but that's for canadians.
People who put money on gox certainly aren't idiots, gox seemed far more reliable and professional than btc-e or some other weird exchange.
Personally I never had before a problem with them, deposits were sucessful, so were withdrawals and customer support was reactive and fast.
The only people who might learn a lesson from that are holders who should have put their stash of bitcoins on paper wallets instead of letting it rest on a exchange.
People will certainly recover most of their cash, there's no reason for that not to happen overall when the guys at gox plan to keep the business running.
These are hard times for the bitcoin community and even bitcoin if the theory that the USG froze the cold storage (no pun intended
) is true.
Eventually, we will recover from that harsh situation.
