Appreciate all the kind words everyone! Just thought I'd come back and respond to a few bits before I lock the thread Grin

It turns out that minifrij is one of the oldest forum participants who is still active?
Like Timelord pointed out, I think 'active' might be a bit of a stretch. I've made about 10 posts in the last 3 years lol.

You say that you just turned 24 years old. So, when you created this account, you were 14 years old? How was it possible for a teenager to become interested in a crypto and bitcoin at a time when it was not as popular as it is now? I'm really interested in this.
I was actually 13 when I first discovered Bitcoin, as it was a few months before I created this account.

My main motivation was actually because of my age. At the time I found it really difficult to buy things online as I was too young to use a lot of financial services (such as credit/debit cards, PayPal etc). I'd heard about Bitcoin a little bit before, I don't exactly remember how, and remembered hearing that it was totally anonymous. I figured that if I could get some Bitcoin somehow, I'd have a way I could buy Steam games etc without having to ask someone else's permission.

That's also why if you go back to my earliest posts you'll find me just spamming my Bitcoin address. I only joined this forum at first as a way to enter giveaways.

It's great to hear when crypto made it possible not only to speculate on the price, but also awakened a new hobby and made it possible to get a useful profession.
Truth be told, I never really cared about the price of Bitcoin. In fact, I'd even go as far to say that the price going up like it has as it has kinda ruined crypto for me.

Without going on a massive rant, back when I first got properly involved in Bitcoin/Crypto outside of making some spending money (late 2013/early 2014) it felt like a group of people working together to try and make something cool that can actually be used. Nowadays looking at 'crypto influencers' and what not it kinda feels like it's just a bunch of scumbags trying to figure out how they can make as much money as possible by tricking people into believing crypto is something that it's not (e.g. the craze with NFTs a few years ago).

As I said in the OP, I have a lot of really lovely memories from the crypto community and I'll never regret being a part of it. That being said, I'm almost embarrased to say that I am/was a part of it now, because doing so unfortunately links me to a community that I find hard to be proud of nowadays.

Anyway, enough about me being jaded and bitter! Cheesy

I know what you mean now everything was so different back then, but so many awesome memories as well. I'm very happy to say I got the chance to meet you and have a beer in person that time. That was quite a night!! 💥💥💥
Honestly, it was amazing. I still remember asking for a booking under the name 'The Coin Council' at the entrance, the bouncer looked at me like I was pulling a prank until he checked the list!

Thanks again for the memories, You're right there precious and from a completely different time in Bitcoin history from how it feels anyway.

Owl
Same to you Owl, I hope you're doing great! Will never forget those days, as long as I live.

Wow, but wow. You came to the forum when you were 14, and after a few months, you already had PayPal to BTC trades, at least judging by your feedback. Really impressive and seems almost unbelievable.
Now I'm a little ashamed of how stupid I was when I was 14  Embarrassed
Don't be hard on yourself! I always tried to hide my age on the forum as I was worried that people wouldn't take me seriously or trust me if they knew I was just some teenager. It was only really as I got older that I actually told people, and even then it was only a select group.

There is also something to be said about enjoying being a kid at that age. I've had some great times, but I can't lie and say that spending so much time in places like this as a young person hasn't had an effect on the way I see/interact with people, especially when it comes to money. Even still though, I wouldn't change a thing!

Makes sense that you've also passed the 10 year mark, just like me. Congratulations Mini!
Congratulations to yourself Mitchell! Hope you're doing great as well!

Again, thanks for all your kind messages everyone. Maybe I'll be back in a few months to make one post and disppear again Wink

@OP, you were really lucky to be part of the community in an early age which some of is at 14 was busy playing video games with friends. This is a good reason why one must start learning bitcoin from an early age like you did. It will give more opportunities to that boy compare to when he has become a man. You must be proud to start your bitcoin journey early as you mentioned that it made you to do things which you never expected that you can do. Knowledge is power. 10 years in this forum is not an easy thing and I believe that so many users didn't even spend up to 5 years before they gave up on the forum, but you are still here, young and still active now, even though you disappeared for a while.
Happy belated birthday and 10 years anniversary in the forum.

Thats a crazy experience. What amazing it is is you are only 14 years old when you created your account anf thats one thing many of us would probably think off during that age. Im quite upset cause at that age probably my mind was only play time and all about friends and lousy things to do like playing cimputer and didnt bother thinking of any idea of the future. But you, its quite an admiration. Congrats for that long being active here.

Ok, I'm not 10, but today marks ten years (and one day Roll Eyes) of me originally joining this forum! Which means you're getting a bit of a soppy post for my birthday Grin

Coincidentally I also recently turned 24 years old irl, which has caused me to have a bit of a remenisce about everything that's happened over the last decade or so. I really owe both this forum and crypto as a whole a ton, as the time I spent in this community has really dictated a large portion of my adult life.
At 14 I was interested in my studies, football, and hanging out with friends. Maybe my geographical location and the financial standing of my parents caused the delay in my knowledge of technology. At that age, I knew nothing about Android phones, computers, or even social media platforms.  So you are lucky to be in the right place at the right time. I can guess that you are one of the youngest old-timers in this forum and you have more experience than many older members.

If I had known this forum long ago, I am sure the mistakes I made in time past would have been avoided. I have made so many mistakes with money through wrong investments and wasteful spending. This forum has some of the best financial analysts who can give sound business advice. And if I had used all the funds I misused to buy and hold bitcoin, I wouldn't have been where I am now financially. But I have no regrets because I am here now. Congrats minifrij and happy more years.

I remembered , when i was 14 , mobile service was newly setup at this time in our area and only non touch screen mobile was used. I am very ashamed to say that at that time I had no knowledge about smart phones and you have created Bitcointalk account, Got knowledge of btc which are admirable. Congratulations for you 10 years journey here and i hope you will enjoy so many Anniversary as your age is still 24.

You're here for 10 years already, that's very impressive, so many things happened in all these years. What is even more amazing that you're signed up here being just 14 years old. I would be very curious to know how Bitcoin become your interest at such young age. I started here as teenager too, but not such youn like you.

When I was 14 my work area was school, cousins, school then again cousins. Sometimes hanging with friends in city centers and that's all. I never thought of anything else LOL
Those old days still are gold though.

My man @minifrij, congratulations brother. You are making all of us embarrassed LOL but honestly speaking it feels good reading such short story. You are impressive.

While I think this part of my life has comfortably passed, I'll always be able to look back on it extremely fondly. Without this forum my life would be completely different, and I really owe so much to it.

First I will give you Congratulation for spending a much time in this forum. I feel impress about this couple of words. I hope you get the hidden treasure from here. God will give you success in the future step of your life. Have a good day!

Congratulations on clocking 24 years of age and also 10 years here on the forum! Two remarkable celebrations all in the same season
You are indeed older than most of us here, including me, as I could consider myself a kid at the time of your arrival here in the forum, but not by age. I hope to celebrate something of this nature in the near future, as I am finding the forum fun and learning every day from it.

Welcome back to the forum and also a big congratulations on hit 10 years here, I know the forum will be a bit strict than before and after so many years of being away you need to get rinse yourself with the new rules and regulations like 10 years isn't a 10 days so lot has changed in the forum. But however, I believe you can scale through anyway since you aren't startup members like us.

Again welcomed back and congratulations to you!

Congratulations on this long time achievements and happy birthday to you, i wish i was also oppotuned to have known bitcoin over decades now, well i still count it a privilege because it was never too late for me to know bitcoin and join the forum, this place indeed is a large community whereby you met alot of people and learn from them, i wonder how many people were still active till date on the forum as at that time who were your colleagues from the names you mentioned, our own era never met the likes of them but i believe your time with people like Lauda among others will forever be appreciated.

Congratulations on your new age and for clocking a decade on bitcointalk, you're among the last men standing of your era  Grin

10 years in the forum.
24 years old
Started in the forum when you were 14 years old.

You have a legendary account.
I believe you were able to stash a lot of bitcoin too.

Nonetheless, everything about you and bitcointalk sounds amazing. Very well done mate.

You say that you just turned 24 years old. So, when you created this account, you were 14 years old? How was it possible for a teenager to become interested in a crypto and bitcoin at a time when it was not as popular as it is now? I'm really interested in this.
It's really crazy that he thought so much in his teenage years and made a life changing decision that not many of us get to make. Which has now given him a freedom to live a beautiful life. I could have thought about playing sports at the age of my 14, never having the knowledge to be interested in Bitcoin. So I respect his talent and effort.

Congratulations to @minifrij. I hope your ten year journey on this forum was one of the best times of your life as you had many friends.

minifrij - congratulations on your long journey on the bitcoin forum. You have been here for a long time regardless of whether you are always actively posting every year or maybe only active to read something. But that's not a problem - I applaud your dedication over the past 10 years as an active user on the bitcointalk forum.

I don't know how long I'll be active on the bitcointalk forum - but I'm currently only on my way to my first 3 years. Once again - congratulations to you.

I really owe both this forum and crypto as a whole a ton, as the time I spent in this community has really dictated a large portion of my adult life.

Not only have I built up a fairly nice little nest egg as a result of crypto, which has given me the freedom to do things I never imagined I'd be able to, but I actually discovered my love of web development through crypto (s/o minifrij.pw) which wound up being my career for my entire adult life thus far.

This is great. 10 years is such a long time. I could have imagined myself on this forum 10 years ago.
Your story is very inspiring too.
I would like to ask you where you see yourself 10 years from now in the crypto space. You may or may not answer but I am just curious to know.
Congratulations once again.
