Zhou Tong is now the Co-founder of Coin Jar to service Australian Bitcoin customers.
Since the Bitcoinica hack,  incredibly strong evidence has emerged that Zhou Tong was the actual thief.
His whole Chinese millionaire relic collector story was too unbelievable to begin with as well.

All the best then dear sir! Cheers to all the Bitcoins ever there is.

The post is from May 2012 and I even think he's back.

Why did this thread suddenly pop up in my watchlist when noone posted. I think the watchlist is broken.

^ I would be a bit careful here.

The end of bitcoinica wasn't pretty and many lost money. Not sure wether zhoutong has taken any, but if, it was way more than a measly 1000 BTC.

Personally I see nothing wrong with straight up gambling platforms and to the extent that I do, it's an easy choice for me to ignore them.  I also don't believe that Bitcoinica either helped or hurt the Bitcoin economy very much.  If I were putting a huge amount of effort into developing the platform and it was used in this manner, however, I am sure I would feel a bit demoralized and like I was wasting my time.  If that is a factor in Zhou Tong and Gavin's comments, I could certainly relate to that.

Oh well, more for me!

But really, I see your point. With the currency's volatility, it's pretty risky to hold your coins. I currently have half the mind to cash out. Any ideas people? Why is the price so jittery this week? It went up to $480 a few days ago, then dropped to $380.

Wasn't he an infant under the age of 18 when the Bitcoinica loss happened?

Age of criminal responsibility in China is 14.

He was studying in Australia at the time and comes from Singapore anyway.

In Australia it's 10 to 14 depending on the crime, in Singapore it's 7-12-14.

Also if he retains stolen funds it's an ongoing crime.

I think this guy is doing an AMA right now on roger's website. Maybe someone that is registered could ask him one thing or two to see what he comes up to, apparently he seemed like a pretty legit guy at the begining, until the scam thing.. I don't get why people put their prestige on the line by risking getting caught with scams. Now whenever he tries a new venture, they will accuse him and trust will be low (already saw it's happening).

Link to the AMA? The youtube video is pretty compelling to be honest, this is crazy! I wonder if he's aware the community is onto him...

That's a HUGE transaction, I've never seen huge transactions like that. 15k bitcoins transacted...
