There is a recent dip today and hope that someone who are still waiting able to get in.

For sure while price is decreasing today, still there are people who still wait for more dip and then will regret later, again and again and again. Too much waiting can wreck people's strategy. There is no such thing as right price here to enter. Once people afford to buy just pull that trigger.

I would personally wait a bit more before I'd buy in again. Just want to watch what the market will be doing before I make another investment in Bitcoin.
Sticking to some other altcoins at the moment so I can buy in with less risk.

There is a dip practically every month in crypto. I would study the charts closely and pick your buy points on your target buy list coins. If you are a long term investor these selloffs could enhance your long run returns and allow you to buy more shares for your money when other investors are panicking. Some newbie traders make the mistake of buying during near vertical rallies and then come to this forum and sob over their losses.

Some people trade short term or with trading bots (see https://github.com/caktux/pytrader) so for them these short violent selloffs may create losses since these strategies often assume stable markets. For new traders I suggest trading small size and longer term until you know your way around the crypto market and can then decide what is the best strategy for you. There are different philosophies regarding stop losses. Some traders follow the cut your losses quickly maximum. Others use wide stop losses. Choose a strategy that is effective for you and your own psychological temperament. Please note drawdowns can exceed 50% and stop losses could force you to lock losses before a giant move.

My personal bias is to buy and hold a core group of crypto currencies and purchase more on price declines so long as I am convinced the coin has a competitive advantage or moat of some sort.

We've already recovered though i think there will still be price drops so you have to be vigilant to take advantage of that. Btc's at a very high price now but would probably reach 10k very soon so it still would be a good time to buy now
I was reading a thread few days ago. I read a comment in which a person revealed something that I didn't know before.

According to the guy, the prices tend to decrease at weekends and if it is true surely the price will decrease a little bit on weekend. However, certainly there will be a fall down sooner or later. Just a feeling!

Dips will keep coming, i think you should start invest now, do not invest whole capital at once, invest like sip. One should keep investing small small amounts regularly irrespective of market condition for greater returns in the long run.

Such dip moments are quite often in crypto world. If you keep waiting for similar moments and postpone your investment, your friend may wave another half million on your face.
Better invest in crypto now and let the game begin.
About last day dip. It was less of real loss and more of speculative loss. Investors were just panic and sold their coins in hurry but now panic is over.
yes that is right that it will very common for bitcoin and other crypto currencies. i think if you want to invest your money in bitcoin right now then it is really a very good time because very soon you will the price will be trading above 5000$ therefor i think that if you will invest your money at that time then it is better to invest it right now because the price of bitcoin is comparatively trading in low price.
If we talk about bitcoins then I think the price is going to show a little rise in next few hours for sure so if someone buys bitcoins now, as it is in the dumping phase he can earn a little profit within a day. However, if someone really wants to earn huge profit, do not sell bitcoins this year if you are not planning to earn them again.

these are all short-term perspectives you have

as you said, your friend invested in 2009, eight years have passed since then, and you're asking whether today's dip is of any significance?

Just buy and hold, it doesn't matter if Bitcoin was high or low today or tomorrow..

what matters is that the Bitcoin will increase by a lot more in another eight years, and your friend will be a multi-millionaire

My unprofessional opinion:

Should you invest right now? It depends. How long are you willing to hold? If you're in it for the long term, buying now will definitely be fine, since in theory bitcoin should continue to rise as difficulty and demand increases, while supply decreases. If you're in it for the short term though, I'd personally buy right now since the price just recently dipped a week ago, also we're not currently on the all-time-high so I think buying now should be ok. I'm expecting bitcoin to reach back to almost $5000 soon. hopefully.

I watched the dump and was going to try to figure out how to buy tonight, but it looks like the pump is already back on the pedal. Did I miss the right time to buy? Is the market back in the upswing or are we expecting another big downturn?
there was no "dump". there was a correction initially where price came down to $4500-$4600 and then some FUD started up and panic sellers started their newbishness like always and price went down to $4000. all in all it was small because this is less than 20%

yes you missed the "good" time to buy. the good time is when we are IN the dip not AFTER it.
after the dip is over you can't be certain if price will stay there and fluctuate or will it rise or will it go down. in any case the chances of seeing $4000 is very small for now.

Nothing lasts forever
Its never late to invest in bitcoin. The dip bitcoin faced few days ago was remarkable as many people including me made some good profit from it.
Although it has recovered more than half of its loss its still a good time to buy bitcoin as it will increase in price in some days. However if you want to wait for a dip, as dips occur every now and then, you can wait till the next fork which is going to happen in November but we don't actually know what will be the price at that time. So the best thing to do will be to invest now. The more you hold it the more profit you will get.

Well at all time is the opportunity to buy bitcoin because, bitcoin value will keep on increasing as time goes on. If you are new in trading it will be good for you to learn the prerequisite of trading before you venture your capital so as to avoid heavy lost of your capital.
in fact no one know about the dept and peek of bitcoin at any stage, but we only expect and analyze for the present condition, as in present time the interest of the people in bitcoin is too much and still their interest is increasing therefore we can analyze that even the present price of bitcoin is too much low and there are more chances that its price will continue increasing for a long long time. therefore if some one can manage he can put their money in bitcoin.

I think you haven't missed the pump completely, there are still chances the prices going to go up again the biggest number ever reach was 5000$ and I believe it can reach that number again and other alt coin like eth still got a great chances to go up again

I think you need to be a bit more careful about ICO because now a lot of government focusing to investigate ico and ICO tends to have a great risk, it's better to stay away if you haven't got the experience

The dip in some coin is still occuring,
for other coin is not really easy to guess it.
I was predicting that NEO will go deeper but then I was wrong.

ETH was also predicted by myself to be lower and I missed it,
it is the risk and challence

the dip will never end and it will keep coming one day and another.
because it's an economy cycle,
they're pumping the price to the point they're exhausting their money[Fiat] into it.
and after they're pumping it,of course they will sell some of their belongings to trade it into Fiat and the doing the same thing again.
for now i can not see the top in Bitcoin because it's not implemented yet and have a lot room to grow.
which mean you're not late to join the boat and i believe you will get profit if you're keeping it for a year or more.

about proof coin from korean, honestly i never heard about them.
and i am a bit skeptical about so called 'backed by real estate' or something like that.
because they need a lot of fund to reliaze it and of course they need a lot of attention from users.
but i never heard about them even once.
i don't know what should i say about them, but i prefer to not buying their ICOs
"The dip will never end" ? What sort of statement is that ? Time is like a flowing river and obviously it won't remain the same forever. The dip was destined to occur and now was its time so it is happening at the moment.

It is not something that we didn't have in mind from the very beginning and we also there will be a pump phase. Dip is the opportunity to increase our coins.

You still have pretty good chances of investing money into crypto world. The dip and ups will keep happening and with current situation coins are not gonna get lower than this. Everything looks stable again after the over hyped news of China rules.
That's a fundamental fact about the way the market and other traded assets work - goes up and reverses at one point or the other and never continues indefinitely in any one direction. You may however want to ensue you don't end up buying at the peak price, or selling at the bottom and that comes only with right knowledge, experience and skills. Good news is that anyone that makes an effort can have them all.

Crypto world works like this only and it's really unoticeable at every glance. So better take the opportunity to invest and keep the investment for over year or so. At least don't revoke your investment within few months from now as there are pretty good chances bitcoin is hitting next thousand in couple of months.
The potentials of Bitcoin is such that its upward projection is almost unstoppable, in no time the $5000 level would likely be breached, so if you are good to go, you can actually buy some, but will also encourage you not to hold them beyond end of the month. As yet, there is no consensus on a hard fork of the network billed for November and a major correction is highly probable about that, so you need to be neutral about that time but earnestly watching and waiting to buy at the dip that could ensue.

I've known about crypto since 2009, just never took notice until my friend just waved $450,000 in my face.

I just started researching crypto to invest over the past 2 days and watched the dip.

I watched the dump and was going to try to figure out how to buy tonight, but it looks like the pump is already back on the pedal. Did I miss the right time to buy? Is the market back in the upswing or are we expecting another big downturn?

$450,000??? That's huge man! That's even bigger than my mortgage. I am jealous on your friend now. However, to answer your question, you can buy bitcoin now if you have a long term goal, If you are looking for a short term goal, then bitcoin is not your place to invest. Bitcoin price is very dynamic and keep changing through out the day. So if you have enough time to monitor the market, then go ahead and make buying and selling in small changes.

However, if you have a long term goal in mind, I will suggest you to start a "Systematic Investment plan" for bitcoin. That means, investing a certain amount of bitcoin at certain intervals. This will help you to average out your price and you will be able to make a good amount of profit in future.

I'm sure there are a lot of people (digitally) waving money in people's faces
because of this bull market.  It's nutty.

We went below $4100 yesterday and now we're back above $4400, so I'd
say this dip has done whatever dipping it was going to do.  Probably a good
time to start buying again if you ask me.  After this, we're probably headed
over $5000.  That's just a guess, though.  Anything could happen.

I would also say that this dip is as good as done. Maybe we'll shortly revisit the low 4000s over the next 2-3 days, but then we'll most likely be shooting for USD 5k,-.

The critical part will be whether we're able to break through USD 5k,- to a new ATH. A double top would be rather bearish at this point of the rally. If we manage to break through the 5k however, I honestly have no idea where it's going to end. Somewhere between the moon and mars probably.
