In the meantime, I decided to download the Verge Electrum wallet and set it up. But, the damn thing just won't connect! I was hoping it would be the final resting place for my XVG, but now I'm having second thoughts. I may just keep it on Binance until I decide to sell it. Sucks, I know, but I have no other option at this point (Except a 'paper' wallet, but that can get complicated. I'm a casual crypto user, not a computer scientist).
Sounds like a whole lot of problems only people buying altcoins go through. I have never had a problem with Bitcoin and that for years straight now. Maybe a good time to reevaluate your altcoin holdings?

Most of the altcoin do somewhat ok in terms of development when the price is booming, but near completely abandoned by the developers during bear markets. I wouldn't want to expose myself to that at all.

I think that Bittrex could have handled this a lot better. They know that people are going to seek to withdraw funds in this period due to their services closing permanently to an area, so they could have at least set up some sort of announcement or manual way of withdrawing for NY residents. I do wonder what would happen if the date passes and you still couldn't get your coins out, since that's technically their fault.
Maybe, but NY has always been a problematic state for exchanges, which I expect people from NY to have paid closer attention to, and based on that not leave any funds on an exchange (which you shouldn't do regardless of your state).

Update: Shortly after I started my thread, Bittrex actually finished maintenance on the Verge wallet! I did NOT expect it to be completed so soon. Hurray!! Cheesy

Now, I'm waiting for Binance to finish maintenance on their Verge wallet so that I can transfer my XVG to them (may take a few days because they started maintenance 3 days after Bittrex).

Good to hear.

What I would do if I were you in this situation would be to set up a temporary wallet with some lite multi-coin wallet (I'm fairly sure Atomic Wallet supports your coin) and get your coins out of Bittrex asap. Then transfer your coins to Binance once Binance stops maintaining it.

With Bittrex's expiring license you simply don't know when another potential wallet maintenance is going to come and screw with you.

BTW, how much notice did they even give you about this issue?

I'm just checking my Bittrex account I have not seen any problem with XVG wallet. I created a new deposit address with info "block updated 1 min. ago". Also on withdraw, I have an only one warning:

Quote
DISCLAIMER: DO NOT WITHDRAW DIRECTLY TO A CROWDFUND OR ICO.
We will not credit your account with tokens from that sale.

and of course: "Block updated 1 minutes ago"
Nothing about offline and "under maintenance".

Anyways is it trading on the exchange?? I mean, is Verge trading and is it same as compared to other exchanges/general maket. If so just trade into another coins, may be Bitcoin or Ethereum and then cash out. I believe Bitcoin and Ethereum deposits/withdrawal work fine on the platform? If you can't trade, try as much as possible to get in tiuch with them and their support.

I had the same idea, unfortunately they halted trading for NY residents in April.

Could this also be attributed to the issue you are having? If they halted NY residents for sometime, maybe they are looking at certain issues. You still have to keep trying the support .

Thanks for the encouraging comments, guys. The consensus seems here seems to be that I should contact Bittrex support. I thought of doing this, but felt odd about it until I heard it from you.

To condoras: I will try the link you provided. Thanks.

Post on reddit and twitter too if you don't get a response soon, it's crazy that they would give such a short notice before blocking your funds.

We can't do anything with it but the suggestions given were true and correct.

Bittrex support will help you most, don't feel odd of contacting them because it's your right and that's your money.

On June 9, 2019, Bittrex will cease operations in New York State (where I live) because their license was not renewed. They informed me that if I don’t transfer my funds out of their exchange by this date, I will permanently lose access to them. I have over 40,000 Verge (XVG) on Bittrex. I want to withdraw it, but can't because the Verge wallet on the exchange has been offline and "under maintenance" for several days now. I fear that, if the maintenance isn't completed by June 9, I will be shut out of the exchange and lose my coins. This is patently unfair, as Bittrex informed me about this on short notice (yet, despite this, I was able to withdraw over 20 cryptos I had on the exchange).

Is there anything at all I can do? While it's true that June 9 is still almost 3 weeks away, it's not unheard of for a wallet to be 'under maintenance' for a month. So, the risk of losing my coins is very real. Thoughts and comments are appreciated.

I am really wondering how come Bittrex is not aware that the Verge wallet is offline or under maintenance so that you can never move your Verge out of the exchange. I am sure you have already contacted their customer support on this problem. Let's hope they gonna do something about it because yeah I agree it would be so unfair on your part in case you might lose your coin but not your own fault. We wish you luck for the fast resolution of this concern.

You are posting this in the wrong section. To answer your question, just send them a ticket. Bittrex has good customer service and I'm pretty sure they will understand that you are unable to move your coins until they enable withdrawals.

Try contacting the support even though it's an incredibly terrible support at least according to my own experience, it's at least worth trying.
Aren't they legally required to give you your money back especially if it's their fault for having it under maintenance.
I wish you good luck, may the crypto gods be with you

This is what I do. I drink and I know things.
Did you contact their support? From personal experience, they reply pretty fast.
On the other hand you can try through their thread here but no guarantees...

Good luck with your case man.
