For her soon-to-be husband, he’s not yet a fan of cryptos despite that he’s also introduced into it. He doesn’t have the same “investing” mindset as my sister is. I can’t force him, but maybe one day he’ll send me a message about it hehe.

I think it's difficult for this part, I personally introduce crypto to my husband, it's difficult, if there is no intention to know and find out,
I hope your sister's future husband is not like my husband  Grin

I'm sure it will make a wonderful gift. because before that he already had the desire to keep the crypto assets he got. and you gave him BTC on his wedding day. Of course, it would be the asset investment gift he so desperately wanted.
if you have taught it well regarding the use of a wallet. I guess you just need to remind him. because sometimes a person forgets easily what is given by others. especially if the items are not so favorite.
keep educating the people around you. This investment remains safe if we have good knowledge.

That’s a pretty cool story thanks for sharing with us. I like the fact that it seems like you’ve gotten your sister interested in bitcoin and cryptocurrency, and that she’s been receptive to receiving it and learning how to properly store it. If only more people did stuff like this our adoption of bitcoin would only grow that much faster!

looks like it becomes a trend now about gift giving using bitcoin ?

This is the mutation of "if you dont know what to gift - money is the best solution" Grin Or its adoption to current world. It looks and sounds cool. You can say "I've got Bitcoin for ... as a gift" and everyone around already imagine that you are super rich now. Or "I gave Bitcoin as a gift" makes you richer than you really are. No offense please.

Little Mouse made it better, he gave Bitcoin book as surprising gift. It is still Bitcoin related and is more useful.

Hope that Bitcoin wont become illegal in your country and BTC receive wont be directly from shady or darknet. Otherwise such give can cause problems.

Last time, I gifted my sister some ETH to hold on her Trust Wallet and she plans to keep it for a long time due to her belief that it can go even higher.

Her wedding day was supposed to happen in the final days of December, but it was ruined because of the super typhoon, so it was moved this month. I’m so happy that she can finally walk down the aisle after a successful 10+ year relationship with her fiancee. The wedding is in a beach setting, far away from my city.

Not only I may surprise gift her some BTC, but I’m also planning to give her my unused SecuX V20 hardware wallet (since I only bought it at a special discount in exchange for a non-biased video demo). So I’ll just reset my settings there so that she can create a new account and I’ll teach her step by step since she has no experience yet in using hardware wallets (but already has experience in Trust Wallet and other non-custodial wallets).

After all, I already have Ledger Nano S and SafePal S1. I already educated her the basics about private keys, seed phrases, etc.

I want to congratulate your sister not only on the wedding, but also on such an excellent brother who is not too lazy to teach his sister something new and useful. The more such relatives will be among us, the larger and stronger crypto community will become. I think it's fun to take the first step into crypto world by receiving a gift. Perhaps many of us need to take note of this idea.

I wonder why you started with Ethereum and are now moving to Bitcoin (why Bitcoin wasn't the first one), but, in any case, I think it's a lovely gift. If she kept the ETH and believes it can grow, it means she's at least open to cryptos and somewhat positive about their future, so gifting Bitcoin seems like a good choice to me. The only thing I wanted to add is that if it's a wedding gift, it probably should be for both of them, not just your sister...? People have different financial arrangements when they're married, but wedding gifts are usually for both, no? If you only focus on her, her husband might feel left out.
Not bad if he should gift her Ethereum. Both bitcoin and ethereum are good cryptocurrencies and whatever he chooses to give her wouldn’t be a bad choice since the two would still have a better value in future. We all know how good Ethereum is and being the first smart contract gives it a lot of advantages. But then bitcoin as well is also on top the list as it is the first cryptocurrency to be created. So the both of them doesn’t make a bad choice. He can choose any.

You are right that the gift should be meant for both of them, because the gift that you give on a wedding day is meant for the couple and not just one of them since they are now one bonded together. So, maybe he can just present the gift to the both of them instead of just saying that it is meant for his sister alone.

If she is educated about all the stuff realted to privte keys etc and she knows how to secure the crypto, then that will be the best gift to give to her. However, like other people who will give her fiat money, you will not be able to show them that you are gving her the ehtereum or other crypto coin. You can verbally tell in front of everyone on the wedding and this will also create awareness among the other people who are not aware of cryptocurrencies.

Umm nope. In my last reply before this, I’m not going to announce it to the public that I’m giving her some BTC. We’ll do it privately of course (maybe after the wedding since the internet connection there is uncertain due to the damage being dealt by the super typhoon last December where internet was disrupted).

The fact that the sister received such a wedding gift from her brother is not necessary to mention to everyone. This can be a personal gift that can play a big role in the future. Should the husband or other people know about this? I think not, these are just the first steps in family life, and sometimes husbands do not become what they said about themselves before the wedding. A woman will keep a gift better and longer, especially since she has a brother who will help in the future. And the husband has everything in his hands, he can be told about bitcoin if he is interested, he, as a man, is obliged to earn it himself, and not use his sister's gifts.

Oh yeah speaking of that, me and my sister knows how to keep secrets. So I don’t need to announce to everyone that I’ll give her BTC hehe. Of course, I’ll just tell her privately.

My parents didn’t even know that I secretly gave her $100 worth of ETH last year (and that value right now is more than x2 as of this time).

As for the soon-to-be-husband, I think only my sister can really convince him. For now, he’s not yet into it as he still is career-oriented, but he has no problem on whatever my sister ventures into. She’s a businesswoman, and has like 3 traditional businesses that she ventured as one of the co-owners or partners.

Just bring it there mate , all our love ones needs our boost towards crypto and gifting them Bitcoin directly is a great way to start.
and also as She is soon to be wife? at least she will have some funds to start if decided to make trading as Housewife, like what i gave my wife before and now she is at least good trader and gaining some funds to support her own needs personally .
and sometimes bringing me to Dinner at her all expense  Grin

It very rare for me to see a woman that do trading even interested in crypto. I gift my wife a small amount of Bitcoin during 2017 when crypto is down stored in trezor but until now I never see her using it or even ask me how to use the Bitcoin inside of it. She is pretty busy on our business so I understand her lack of curiosity. So I'm amazed to see a woman that interested in crypto and even do trading with there time. I assume your wife is not very busy on her work that's why she can focus on trading. I'm really jealous.  Undecided

Nope it’s not rare. Here in the Philippines, a lot of women have engaged into crypto trading and being part of opportunities like community managers, or being part of the development team, or just simply joining airdrops. In crypto conferences that I have attended in the Philippines and overseas back then, I see more women are engaged in this industry.

Her fiance was lucky to have that kind of woman like my sister because of her growth, matured and business mindset.

I don't know, while its a good thing that people are spreading the Bitcoin love and therefore, marketing Bitcoin to the crowds to increase the Bitcoin adoption rate, I still see giving money as a gift, especially on important occassions as a bit impersonal. If I were you, I would probably give a more physical gift, something she can use day to day instead of just leaving it as an investment for the longer term...

But maybe I am wrong... Thats just me.
Well, you are not wrong for thinking and such. Everyone has their own ways of doing things and I believe this is also the op way of how he would like to do it for himself. It’s all about personal preference if you think that it is best for you to give them a physical gift, then there’s nothing wrong about that you can do it. And if you feel that bitcoin is the right thing to give to them that is also nothing wrong about that.

I have seen people who were gifted a cash gift on their wedding day so I think giving bitcoin to someone is also the same thing period whatever your heart list you to believe is best to give that person just follow your heart and do that that's what I feel.

That will be the best gift for her as you give some amount of bitcoin that she can hold for some time. If you teach her everything you know about crypto and she has a big interest in it, she will know what she needs to do and involve in crypto deeper than before. If she decides to learn more details and see that she can do many things to get more coins at the market, I guess that will not stop here before she can accumulate many bitcoins or altcoins and prepare to sell at a high price. You do a great thing by giving her something that he will not forget for the rest of her life. Thank you for sharing this with us.

I just I have someone that has also gifted me with my bitcoin during my special occassions.  Tongue

I'm sure that she'll do also the same thing as what she had done to Ethereum that you've gifted her before. She's wise if she's going to keep it so that she already has bitcoin and eth on her portfolio.

And it's going to be wiser if she's going to buy using her own money or if her husband is going to team up with her to add more bitcoin and eth.

When it comes to wedding gift, always the people around and the relatives have a question. What your brother, father gave on wedding. For those people to explain about cryptocurrency this gift creates an opportunity. For people who doesn't know much about might've different thinking. So, as few users suggested it is good to have a main gift and give the bitcoin wallet and bitcoins separately.

Congrats on your sister wedding and it is an appreciable effort and a good gifting which is gonna make financial change in one's life.

I found it nice that you introduced your sis to cryptocurrencies by offering some.

About the wedding , I wonder how you came across this idea btw !
I don't think cryptocurrencies can be considered as a gift in weddings. Why you don't buy something precious for her and her husband for the new family life?
Congratulations for your Sister for the wedding. I wish i can marry too  Tongue
So are saying that bitcoin is not valuable and precious? We can not regret the price of bitcoin and it is so costly. Bitcoin as a gift is really a good choice and it can give good result in their future life. Small amount of bitcoin can change anyone's life.
I have to agree with you, but OP you should be more open if your sister will convert it into fiat days or months after her wedding as she is starting  to build a family and would likely to have a physical business or something that can give them a passive income. Bitcoin is valuable and there' no doubt about that, but i think it will also be a good idea if you could give her a cash gift too aside from bitcoin because that's more practical right now so she can use it right away, while waiting for the long term investment to make profits.
Why he cant give out both? Bitcoin is for long term and some cash gift too? It would be just sensible that he should really be thinking off about the present on which it would really be helpful for her sister.

Its a good initiative on giving out some bitcoins too but of course you would really be needing to teach or at least make out some search too on what it is so that it wont really be putting on the risk of losing it.

Btw, congrats in advance for your sister on having that married life, it wont be an easy one.

I'm sure if you actually gave him the bitcoin equivalent of 1 Lambo then he was very surprised by it. LOL
As far as what you think is right and beneficial for your bride-to-be, then go for it. I believe the bitcoins you give him can be useful in the future regardless of whether he wants to keep them or sell them outright to make ends meet. But introducing him to bitcoin is probably one of the best things for you and your bride-to-be.

If you are gifting bitcoins as an investment in the future, then try to back up a secure wallet. This is far more important than anything you think afterward.
