The One and Only
It was a good session, although not as technology-savvy as the one in San Francisco last month.

The main audience was the head financial people at companies like Target and Wal-Mart, and they were looking more for incremental ways to monetize foot-traffic than something game-changing.  However, a few people were extremely interested, and I will follow up with them.

Glad it went well! Congrats on a good session, and hopefully you'll get some new customers!

Attendees are paying over $1000 to be here

Sounds like you guys need a couple more high-value sales through bit-pay to cover these expenses. hint hint. Just send 2BTC to loveBitcoins for your efforts.

Attendees are paying over $1000 to be here, so there is no live feed.  I will definitely record audio.  I can mix that into a slideshow video and release it on YouTube next week.

Stephen, you're lucky this is too far away from me and I don't have a cheerleading outfit and pompoms because I'd be in the front row introducing you and cheering you on throughout.  Maybe get a wave going for you.  Grin

It's Tony but yes I am sure you would be here!

The manager of Google Wallet is speaking now.  They are taking about single-use account numbers and other ideas, but it's just band-aids on a legacy system.

One day banks will use Bitcoin as the backbone for International wires and ditch the slow and expensive SWIFT system altogether.

One can only hope Cheesy

I just looked at the topics being presented besides yours, and all of them could/should be about bitcoin. Lets hope that bitcoin is at least brought up in all these other presentations.

Mobile Wallets: What Do They Mean to Financial Institutions?
The Decoupling of Banks - How Non-Bank Entities will Dictate the Future of Consumer Financial Services

My guess (and Bitpay can confirm) is that Bitcoin won't even be mentioned.  It is more like why you banks need to support my closed platform x which will never have more than limited appeal because it will never have universal support.  Of course Bitcoin is the elephant in the room because as you point out it is the answer to all those topics.

Banks could actually benefit from Bitcoin.  Imagine if in your online banking account you could exchange money in your checking account for coins (and in reverse).  The killer app for Bitcoin.  99% of users would never use Mt.Gox they simply would buy coins from their bank or when paid in coins convert them back into funds in their checking account instantly.

Makes all those closed p2p fund transfer systems look quaint.
