yes I once connected my pc with a strange application because of that I did not appear suspicious because my antivirus did not detect him as a virus, but unfortunately bad luck came over me, my wallet was hacked by people and some of my tokens were taken I was really stressed, therefore I quickly move eth for fees and some other important tokens
I totally agree with your opinion above

well, never heard that throug TeamViewer some one can come to your comp, but it does not mean it is not possible.
and to be safer,  install firewall to your pc and deny any incoming connection except trusted zone..

NEVER LET UNKNOWN ENTITIES CONNECT TO YOUR PC WITH REMOTE CONTROL LIKE TEAM VIEWER.

Risks are enormous and could lead to total loss of your funds and/or compromise your data permanently.

Stay aware, stay safe.  Smiley
Never ever give your trust easily especially online. Be careful with downloading applications and sites for they might be fake and might be packaged with viruses, trojans and other malwares that could cost you a lot because these could collect your info's and  steal whatever they can get and worst case scenario use it to commit illegal activities or identity theft. Second is, don't trust unknown emails for it might also be used by attackers to steal from you and manipulate you.

You nailed it!
Many months ago, during my very first months in crypto, I got troubles to back up and sync my wallets (altcoins) after upgrading to newest versions. I asked for help from channels of projects I invested. Then, you know what happened? Some strange users popped up and generously stated that they can help me out if I gave them control of my computer, temporarily.

I was a newbie that day, and did not have too much knowledge about crypto, but basically I knew that it is always terrible to give others control of my computer, even through Remote control feature on Team Viewer. I made my right decision to ignore them all, and I was safe, fortunately.

BTW, I have one more point to contribute.
Bitcoin investors have to carefull with their bitcoin's wallet ID, too. Because expertised guys can spend decent time and efforts to bruteforce and get their private keys. It is not easy thing to do but in worst cases, people might lose their private keys and bitcoin stored in that wallet (that might be traced with wallet ID).

I just saw an youtube video from a guy a few days ago about Cryptopia and his Pac coins and he speaks about how he was call an support number !
But finaly they got no real support phone number and he called someone and after a few min they asked about to install or open up team viewer and they connected to his pc.
And looking around on his exchange accounts and all and at some stage they asked for his coinbase account and wanted too look there .
At this point he just cut the phone call and the internet connection for his pc.
Little scary and at the other side realy stupid to let unknowen people get access to your Computer.

Just a short story about how things can get with team viewer and nobody should let anybody others access to the pc as only yourself.

That person video may well be false too as Cryptopia exchange no longer exists and no one can get Cryptopia support. Really there are too many ways to scam people and the only reason they often succeed in there mission is that we are careless and do not think what we are doing.

@noormcs5 I feel the video was true as the person has narrated his experience that he got from the call, but the person calling him was a scammer there’s no doubt about it. While I know people can’t always smell these scams, but Cryptopia has been down since quite a while now and it’s under liquidation he should have used common sense before giving him access. Also this is an important lesson for all i.e. never allow anyone to access to your PC via team viewer, you can loose lots of personal data if you take such foolish decisions.

This should be a basic pre-caution to everyone and not only for crypto-enthusiasts but to all the people who uses a computer. This is a common strategy for the bad guys, I don’t even trust technicians who accesses my desktop using any remote tools.

One needs to be pretty silly to trust a person they've never heard of it met before and let them remotely connect to their personal computer, ESPECIALLY if they have wallets and accounts in it, without ever seeing that person face to face in real life. It's like letting someone help you with a problem regarding your credit card by giving him your PIN code. It's just silly and whoever falls in this trap honestly kinda deserves it.

A human interaction always feels way safer than a virtual one when it comes to having issues like these. Would you rather call an unknown number and tell them all the details about your card or go to the bank itself and speak with somebody who is a legit agent there? If you have a problem with something, try to solve it though non-fishy and safe ways. Always speak to legit personnel.

A very famous way that scammers connect to your pc through team viewer is Tech Support Scams.
People would pretend to be working for microsoft and say that your computer is infected. They would instruct you to download and install team viewer in order to "repair" your pc.
There are a number of videos on youtube of people scambaiting such scammers and wasting their time. Checkout KitBoga on youtube.

Remember: Microsoft does not call anyone regarding a virus on your computer.

Is this possible? I've never tried TeamViewer but I have let someone see what I'm doing while doing something for him. Is it possible for him to do something to my pc then and there? I don't have plans to let someone control my pc using Teamviewer but what could he possibly do even if you gave him access? You're monitoring it for the whole time he's controlling your pc unless you're an idiot and left him to do his thing without monitoring it. I would naturally hide my important files and such inside a deeply hidden folder so that he would need to take a few steps to open it. This would inform me that he is trying to find something and I could easily terminate the connection right? What im worried about is if its possible to send malware or the like when using teamviewer hiddenly without the owner knowing even though the sender is being monitored.

You can also transfer the files between the two computers which are connected to the team viewer. Also, malware and Trojans can be transported between the computers. Usually the receiver end of the person is the one who has asked for some help and the experienced person who is actually helping and taking control of the PC can intentionally misuse the authority.

If you are smart enough, you will not let anyone scam you through team viewer if he is operating the screen in front of you. We should be knowing how to use the software correctly.
Even if you are using team viewer, you should have complete knowledge of it. There is one feature which is called "Unattended access" whereby you just give your partner one time password and the next time he can connect with you PC even if you are not on the PC. So never enable that option.
If you take proper precautions, then you will be safe.

I also want to add something. Do not think that if you are not new that this can't happen to you. I was networking with a project I was doing some bounty work for here and I discussed a few things with the team.
They wanted to remotely control my pc with Teamviewer. I think they were probably legit but I didn't feel comfortable so I said another time maybe. I never was asked again since the project just sort of fell a part.
The point is had they been scammers they could have confused me and got me off my guard. Also be logical. There are definitely times when having someone control your pc remotely is useful. That is why is was made xP

I have used a tool the same as TeamViewer and a computer at the school where my brother is teaching, my brother install the app and connect it to our computer at home and I can see whatever the person is doing where the person that time is searching for gowns and log in facebook. That's not all, I even take control of the computer itself without me using it myself at the school. I can also save a file there from the computer at home. To whoever or any person didn't know about this would only think that the computer is broken or it is infected with virus. Anyway, it's for fun only and never scam anyone at all then I never use it again on another computer. My experience is to let you guys who don't know about a program like Team Viewer will make your computer at "GREAT RISK because of it, so never download any App or programs that you didn't know at all.

The best way to avoid this is to keep your PC in your room and its should be for private use only,no friends no family no connections because most times if you allow friends or even families to use your personal PC they might betray you,it happened to me once
The thread is not about physical access to a PC. It is about remote access using software like Team Viewer that allows another party to use your computer without having physical access to it. He can transfer files, read your documents etc. That's what this is about.
