Hello again, after a lot of search and calls and emails, I have managed to source some AMD 5700.
Do those cards worth to invest at a big quantity ? I am mostly interested for ETH mining.

i hope you got them.

Lol no. The price now is 1300 for each card.  Undecided Huh

It depends if you want to ise brand new or second hand GPUs in your rig. Personally, when I was mining some years ago, I only bought used GPUs. They were cheaper and pretty easy to find.

Also, I have never came across a GPU that has broken down thanks to mining. I know that they exist but you shouldn't be afraid to use cards that have mined before.
Two of my 1070 ti cards failed mining. This is what happened. They worked fine for more than a year, then one day out of the blue the first one was not mining. I rebooted the rig and the card was not detected. Tracked down the problem card, put it in a solo rig and tried to boot. The card's fans would spin 100% but there was no signal to the display. Sent them back to the manufacturer and they were replaced. Both cards had the same identical symptom. 100% fan speed and no signal to the monitor. These cards' memory were overclocked to 700-725 mhz. Since then I only overclock them to 600 mhz. So the cards can fail mining cryptos with extreme memory overclocks.
This is why I don't like overclocking GPUs, some brands will just give up in a very short term, I always make sure my GPUs works at temp of 50°c to 59°c maximum, if you are getting anything over this and your card isn't AMD you have overclocked, since I'm using gtx1660 super it works best at underclock
Yes I agree my GPUs run anywhere from 44C - 59C. Sometimes on a very cold day they might go below 40C. I just checked and one 1070 ti fan speed was only 29% and temperature 68C. Good thing I just checked. I have now rebooted the rig and will keep a close eye on the temperatures. Not sure why it lost it's fan speed setting.

Thank you all for your answers and your help. However the problem can be solved with the above solutions if we are talking about building a rig or 2 or 3. The problem can not be solved with the above solutions if you want to purchase bigger quantity of cards. From today news, I read that Nvidia and AMD mentioned that the shortage will continue until the end of May and we will see what will happen until them. Meanwhile we have mailed all the big suppliers but no luck as expected. We will see how this will be played. Probably I have to wait for the new generation of Asics with their pros and cons. However I hate paying those ridiculous money that they are requesting for Inno miners right now.

You know I say sweet.  I am making coin as I have 60 plus cards all paid off.

You snooze you lose.  I started ramping up in July you simply waited too long.

True story. The last one doesn't find a seat...  Grin

I got burned in 2019 when we got a bit hot in June and July then tanked. I grabbed a few extra pieces of gear.  And it went down a lot.

This time I scored. I kept adding 2 or 3  cards a week and went form 30 old cards to 60 new cards.

I can't get a single card at a good price right now.

I have new room and power I could do 50 mobos with 3x 3080's each.
I can get mobo's - 9  due in from china end of the month
I can get ram     -9 sticks in hand for the mobos above.
I can get psu's   -9 focus 850 watt psu's in hand

cards 7  I need 27.  This will end my expansion for a while.

Why do you want to go 3x 3080 rather than 6x 3060ti's, I've always seen miners using less expensive cards because even though they hash slower their lower price speeds up ROI

I am a builder of gpu gamer / mining rigs as well as a miner.

So since I never push my cards I will use them after six to eight months in gaming rigs.

My buyers are long time customers and know I do this.

I know they would want 3080s.

Forget it if you are trying to build a new mining rig right now unless you have some thousands of dollars to spend on the rigs and even if you have the money it's not worth building any mining rigs right now because of costs, you can't even get a card at MSRP right now it's so freaking annoying
There is nothing wrong with buying rigs right now because Ethereum is still Profitable to mine, are you going to build when coins aren't more profitable to mine or what? That's a stupid decision I believe, even if you buy a gpu at a costly price now you can still make the ROI can in short time compared to building and mining when it's not Profitable again

In a world that the GPU's are purchased faster than the toilet paper, what are moves that somone has to do, except from waiting until May, to find and purchase GPU's in large amounts?  Grin

I know that this is more than a rhetoric question, however there must be some things and some shortcuts that can be done. Happy to hear any crazy idea  Cool
Many people also sell their graphics cards because they need money.
See all used computer sales bulletin boards in your area and buy video cards.
If you can quickly pick up the item and pay in cash, then you have every chance of being the first customer.

It will only take me minutes to get my hands on toilet papers but days to get my hands on ordered graphic cards, who told you that GPUS are purchased faster than toilet paper? That's wrong lol,

It's uncertainty what will happen in MAY, there is no assurance that graphic cards will be cheaper at the time, what if the profitability of gpu mining is still high like today?

This probably won't be the best idea however it can work. I remember back in 2017.2018 when all GPUs were sold out or crazy mark-up. People actually found that by buying an entire PC was cheaper than the GPUs. If I recall correct the company was Dell which had some high end GPUs in some of their gaming desktops. You could buy the entire computer, take out the GPU and sell the rest of the computer piece by piece to get some money back. Entire Desktops unlike GPUs and CPUs usually aren't sold out.

Another way is just to go on Craiglist and Facebook and you might get lucky. Someone maybe didn't hear about bitcoin and they have no idea that prices doubled and if you are one of the first few people to inqure and go pick it up right away, you might get a decent deal on a used GPUs. This option however might involve alot of trial and error. No other way around it during a mining boom.

In Jan 2018 I grabbed six hp omen dual 1080ti rigs about 2k each. pretty good deal.

i have not seen it happen as much this time
