I've found 3 blocks @ deepbit
Is there a way to look this up on deepbit's website? I'm kinda curious how many blocks I found Tongue

I've recently switched to solo mining, and I'm praying it's actually working correctly right now Tongue My 95% probability is 17 days, or 5 days on average, so if I don't find a block in two weeks I guess I fscked something up  Angry

This is why I'm amused when I see people running "bitcoin lotteries". Want a bitcoin lottery? Start solo mining. All the thrills and only the electric bill to pay. Wink

ok. but im only mining with a single hd5770,  getting 180mh/s so single mining is just a waste of time, isnt it?

@ that rate its better to join a pool.  Its personal preference.

is it possible to find a block if you are doing poolmining? i mean im mining @deepbit, is there a chance that one day ill get 50btc (-fees) by being lucky? normally you just get shares.
can someone help me?

No, you share that 50 with the rest of the pool.

Ahh poo!

I found 50.05 BTC in 5:59 hours on my first day. W00t. Probably wont ever happen again, now I switched to pool mining for steady payout.

I hope you guys realize there are some n00b miners here (ahem me) that is nowhere even near being able to get one block in a month.

Sigh.

I have found a total of 7 blocks since I started mining in February, and that wasn't ALWAYS 24/7. Had about 1.6 ghash/s

In total I've earned about 300 BTC on various pools. Pooled mining is the way to go! You support the newer people and remove your variance. Sure I could have earned 350BTC total by now, But Who's to say I wouldn't have earned any at all?

I am not math expert, but from what I read its about 4-5g/h to find ~1-2 block per week otherwise pool mine, sell coins, buy real stuff.

or just get lucky like i did

I've found 3 blocks @ deepbit but only earned 90 BTC.  So yes sometimes you get lucky.

If you have a lot of hashing power and don't mind seasons of good luck and bad luck, solo mining is the way to go.

Plus you'll earn more.  50BTC a block + transaction fees, and you shouldn't have downtime due to DDOS'ing or pool issues / maintenance.

i aint too happy either, ive been mining with slush for a couple of weeks and ive found 5 blocks while ive only earned about 170BTC ...... seriously thinking of going solo, i found 2 blocks in one day during the week at about 4ghash :/

If you think your luck will continue to hold, then that indeed might be a good option. Myself I've found as far as I know 0 or 1 blocks in a month of 3GHash mining. Let's just say I made far more BTC than that Wink

You're being results-oriented... You're pool-mining to even out variance, right?

The VERY first time I started mining, it was solo, and I found a block in 8 hours.
That was either the 240,000 difficulty jump or it was the 150,000 difficulty jump
I don't really remember, but at the time the calculator told me it would take 1-2 weeks.
