Thanks all for the guidance and especially @stompix for the help you have offered. I will and a few other members would certainly work on the feedback to get the Indian local board more active. At the moment I am locking this topic.

The problem!

The problem is somewhere different and far more complex.

You have hundreds of people from India that are not spending one minute on that board.
(The reasons are easy to understand, most campaigns don't pay for the post in local forums)
You have tens of legendary members from India that earn merits but don't care about the local forum that much at all, even if they don't post they don't even spend a few merits now and are there to help users who are active only there.

With that lack of activity on the board, counting down the last bumped 10 topics the 10th had its last post in February!!! you won't convince too many that a merit source is needed for that board specifically.

The solutions according to me (the all mighty stompix).

Convince the Indian community to spend more time at least reading and writing topics.
Increase activity there to attract posters and use the merits you earn elsewhere to award posters to the local board.

You know, the whole thing, don't give fish, learn to fish thing!

Temporary solution
Grab a few tens of posts that you think are merit-worthy and post them in the already quoted topic or make one of your own if those posts already have a few merits and don't qualify for it. Since I'm a lazy merit backstabber and hoarder I can merit quite a ton of those if you can make a list of 10-20.

Instead of requesting this to theymos, why don't you apply for being a merit source or ask any of your local board user to apply for merit source. That would help getting a merit source for your local. Requesting here wouldn't work I think. theymos would look at merit source application.
OP can not be a merit source because he only joined forum recent months and has limited contributions here. When merit system was a few months old, there were opportunities for Full Member of Senior Member successfully applied to be merit sources. Now such chance gone.

Your suggestion is valid that OP should ask his legendary local members to apply for Indian merit source.

@theymos should assign a new merit source on the local board, who is active and has been trying to make the board active. There should also be a dedicated moderator as this board is subjected to spam. I hope he checks this big issue if he wants members like us to make this board more engaging.

With this thread, I doubt you will get the attention from theymos.
Follow the merit source application and apply. If theymos thinks Indian local board needs a merit source and the applicant is a best fit, he will assign.

The Pilipinas section has also been inactive for months, possibly due to the accusations of a bitcointalk charity scam against cabalism which led to a lack of activity and merit circulation in our local section.

While there have been a few Filipino members who have expressed their desire for a new merit source, I am still guessing that the administrators are hesitant to appoint one, especially since the application of @crwth is still pending.
I have once visited our local boards the other day and saw that there're only few people who are active on the section and immediately went to the merit source application by out fellow countrymen. I have seen that there is also problems with his application regarding to the lost charity donations that he needs to explain.

Based on this thread , it was made few years ago and up until now he is still pending for application maybe due to the issue or maybe @theymos no longer wanted to add more merit source. IDK which one but it seems that it was the case.

I just checked India board after long hiatus, it has posts that deserves merit. When merit is shared people will possibly feel to contribute more into that board.

Already due to Indian government cracking the crypto community a lot of high ranking members have now become inactive. There are a few instances when suddenly they rise from their hibernation and reply on important topics. Most of them are not active and don't care what is happening on Bitcointalk or the local board.

Are they inactive, or not participating in the local forum? They are two different things.
An inactive user means that you don't log in to the forum. Another thing is the user, not participating in the local tab of his country/language.

There are many users who prefer global tabs over local tabs.

Then, the sources of merits, are not intended for a local tab but for the entire forum.

Although I understand the fact that our local tab is not very active. Try to make quality posts in your local tab, and maybe that will help attract more users there.

Merit source coming from any local board doesn't mean that he's assigned particularly for his locale to merit it's members, but to equally gives merits to any deserving quality post from any member of the forum, this should be taken note of OP, though I've learnt that there are many other couple of merits sources that have also been inactive on the forum aside from the ones on your locale, but if you're posting well and with delivers upto expectation, you will always receive merit from any of the merit sources, some have even abused the local board to be a merit physhing avenue for them on the forum.

Instead of waiting for theymos to find you someone who would be a good merit source you should choose someone among yourselves who is active and shares merit regularly and tell him to make a merit source application.

The same thing should be done for getting your own moderator, but chances of that actually hapening are slim to none as our local board (Croatian) is way more active than yours and despite that we are waiting for years to get our own local mod again after Lauda got removed.

No offense, how you can hope to theymos to add more merit source in your local board when you're local board is one of the most low inactive boards? you might say it's because there's no active merit source, so Indian people are more encouraged to post in English board. But that's not a good reason, theymos may likely want to add merit source in local board if there's a lot activity and high quality posts.

However, you guys are using English language to posts, if you think there's an unmerited quality post, you can report it on this thread [self-moderated] Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source

Post activity per local board during February 2023

It has been more than a month that @pakhitheboss talked about vanished Merit source on our local board with this topic.

The concern!

Already due to Indian government cracking the crypto community a lot of high ranking members have now become inactive. There are a few instances when suddenly they rise from their hibernation and reply on important topics. Most of them are not active and don't care what is happening on Bitcointalk or the local board.

The problem!

These high ranking forum members are Merit source for our local board. You can check @Heisenberg_Hunter or other merit source activity. They are either aloof or not active.

The solutions according to me.

@theymos should assign a new merit source on the local board, who is active and has been trying to make the board active. There should also be a dedicated moderator as this board is subjected to spam. I hope he checks this big issue if he wants members like us to make this board more engaging.
