Updated OP
Added some questions, adjusted merit source numbers, and more font/color changes because I'm slightly anal-retentive.  Undecided

Very nice visual aid for the activity and merit requirements.. still it seems weird though how in the beginning you need more activity than merit to rank up, then it flips and you then suddenly need more merit than activity to rank up Shocked

Well explained infographic about merit system and the FAQ is on point. Will probably share this to my friends, and to local board if there will be someone who will ask about merit system.

Asking permission to download the picture, and promise will give proper credits to you whenever i share this infographic photo! thanks Smiley

Thanks for asking but nobody needs permission, you've probably already downloaded it in some cached fashion when you visited this thread. Smiley

Everyone is welcome to use the image. Credit is nice but not necessary, I would just prefer that you not misrepresent it as your own with the intent to increase your own merit or credibility.

As a suggestion, I would use the link to this thread instead of the image itself, for the sole purpose that I could update this image as time progresses and using the current image itself may get outdated (the image linked in theymos' original OP about merit is already slightly outdated) and imgur doesn't let you replace it. I'll keep the OP updated with the latest image and I'm open to suggestion(s) relating to the content/questions.

Got it bro, already bookmarked and shared this thread to my friends, so when there are current update about this system me and my friends will get updated too!

You did great job making this image to inform the members. Is it possible for you to make the links mentioned in the image clickable ?

This is very helpful for us, because even after few weeks of the new system i saw a lot of members didn't know exactly how the system work. I appreciate your work Ibminer, The design and the way of introducing activity and Merit system are very good. Great Infographic.

I appreciate you making this! It was very helpful. I now understand how to merit other people and how the system works.

Thank you for this information but I need more clarity on how to get merit.
Is it a requirement to post in a particular section for one to earn merit?
With this update, does it mean I won't be promoted to a new rank without meeting the minimum merit requirement?

You can post anywhere.

Getting Merit is very subjective. I've seen some random useless posts get 10; I've seen some great ones get 1.

It really just depends on who reads your post and whether it struck the right cord for them.

Unfortunately there is no easy way to guarantee you will get some.

If you feel you have posts that are deserving of Merit here is a thread that reviews it periodically and they may give you some but no guarantee.

My advice is don't worry about it to much, and just try to post something relevant or startup a worthy discussion thread.

A heartfelt thank you. But this seems more like a "info scroll" and less graphic. Just the text in JPG lol but regardless. Thanks for the effort.
Its a PNG lol. Regardless, I did say it was a little plain... its a graphic and it has information so I guess it qualifies as an infographic. I appreciate your sincerity, though Cheesy

I am sure this would be lost in the sea of other infographics that has popped up since Theymos asked for it but it still is going to be useful.
theymos added several to his original post about the merit system. If its useful, its useful. If not, don't use it.

Remember to redirect newbies to this post of yours so they can read this.
I assume there is some sort of humorous insinuation with the yours, but I'll pass on an explanation. Smiley

Thanks for the great infographic!
No problem.

Just a couple of questions:
Is this 10k merits per month include the sMerits we get after being merited (the 1/2 merits that can be resent)?
Will this amount change or is there an intention to change - especially increase - it in the future?
The 9,925 mentioned in the infographic is relating to merit sources only... which was when there were only 49 merit sources.
There are now currently 57 merit sources and the number has already increased to 11,975 every 30 days (infographic updatedwill be updated soon!).
The number of merit sources will certainly increase over the next year, and likely the number of merits distributed to them each month.
These direct stats can be found here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats=sources

And don't you think this amount is too low?
I mean if 1/3 of those merits were given to legendary members who don't need them for ranking up.. only 7k merits will be left for all other forum members.
So.. Every month, among all members, around 25 will get to Full member (2.5k merits) and 15 to Sr. member (2.25k) and 7 to Hero member (1.75k) and 1 to legendary (0.5k)

PS: The way I calculated it:
Sr. member needs 150 merits to get from Full member rank (100 merits) to Sr. member rank (250 merits).
So for 15 members to rank up we would need: 150 x 15 = 2250

Great content. Appreciate the effort you have put in. Is there a similar one for trust? If not, you could add that one too. Though its not required for ranking up, many newbies create threads asking the same and can be redirected here get a simplified picture.

Thanks, and good thought on making one for the trust system, I don't believe I've seen one in the past. Hopefully most existing members are familiar with it by now but there always seems to be a stream of new users that could potentially benefit from a trust system infographic.

What a beautiful, well-designed inforgraphic on Merits, sMerits and new ranking requirements. Thanks for your time, your work, and your efforts to to great  one.

Personally, you should add information about number of merits released by the forum monthly. It might be helpful for new users or even old users who are not familiar with new launched merit system which are highly correlated to ranking system of the forum.

Thanks, I've added information relating to the number of merits being released monthly.

(Also made a few other adjustments to text.)

Nice maybe this or one of the others you've mentioned could get stickied; although I'm sure it won't stop people who want to post first, and do no research ever.

Plain/simple is always good; good old KISS method.

My intention was to try and keep it as simple as possible while still providing decent information.
