thanks for the PM, MJ.

I decided early on to keep this information private. Some of the reasoning was…

1. Privacy
2. Potential scams/attacks/counterfeiting attempts.
3. Dusting; a minor annoyance, but an annoyance for some nonetheless.
4. Any other reasons I may not have thought of yet.

What I have done is to work to be transparent with the public, and make known my real-world identity - which includes meeting a number of my customers in-person, which has been fun. I have also been open about the fact that I do not intend to release this information.

If any issues were to arise regarding the keys, I am prepared to release them if collectively the community asks me to. I also am prepared to retire from producing physicals and work to the best of my ability to make whole anyone who was affected. I do not foresee any issues... I take security very seriously - as if the future of my work and financial security of my customers depends on it. (it does) I myself own funded Kialara's, as do a number of my friends/family members.

Best,

Max-

well would you post a list with coin# and address after people bought them and not tell them you were going to?

I wouldn't do anything that I felt was wrong.  I don't think any other coin maker should either.

yeah not sure why you would post the address with the coin # if people know who bought what #s

In my experience, customers that care usually ask to remain anonymous.  In the case of Minted Seats, we allow users to decide whether or not they want to publish their ownership information.  Many choose to.

Hello

We will be sending an email to our customers asking if they wish to have their address made public.

The ones who agree will have their address posted to this forum.

We value our customers privacy and belive the decision to make their address public is theirs and theirs alone.

We hope the community at large can understand our process in seeking permission first.

Warm regards

Isn't this a huge privacy risk? I don't agree philosophically with this endeavour, nor do I think coin makers should comply.

LOL.. Wut? What is the privacy risk exactly? This is about transparency, not privacy. Are you saying people's coins could be identified or somehow at more risk? Please explain, thanks! Cheesy

I have to agree.  There is no way to tie an individual to an address unless the sale was public, which then you would know anyway.  I dont believe there is anything to gain out of this other than seller transparency.

Take alitin....we dont know the full address list so we cant determine the level of theft that occured....

I've done a bit of work looking for address lists to add to https://wiki.coin.community

BTCC: Anduck made an awesome unofficial BTCC tracker which has all the addresses and some interesting information: https://anduck.net/bitcoin/btcc_coins.html

bhCoin: They released addresses for their series 1 and series 4 coins.

Cryptocracy: only released DIY coins, so no address list.

I asked cryptoart if they would release an address list but they didn't want to, citing privacy reasons.

Thanks for this MJ, I like the initiative and it's neat to see my name on the list twice!   Grin

- Since a couple users have asked me I wanted to add I had no involvement with the making of Ravenbit coins.  When Ravenbit closed shop and their site went offline, I compiled a peer reviewed list of both pre-made series addresses and posted them to pastebin.
