I have started a new thread https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/was-paymium-really-hacked-or-are-they-running-a-scam-latter-appearing-likely-177317 about Boussac's refusal to provide the police report reference number.

I invite anyone who shares my point of view to provide comment there.

We will send a batch transaction for all validated claims at the end of the claiming period on Monday, July 1st, 2013.

I started asking nicely. Then I got rude. Then I asked nicely and rudely. One motherfuckin' more time:

great, now 0-balance wallet URLs can be claimed as well.

I managed to  claim mine.

for those still getting 404:
 copy-paste  exactly this: www.instawallet.og/w/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
(with your wallet of course). If you copy-paste something else and then edit
(such as removing extra /, as I did when copying the address by parts) then you get 404

Ok, glad i waited until the morning to enter any claims as the advice regarding the URLs has saved me a lot of stress. Smiley

I have so far entered 6 URLs and all have been found with full balances. These range from 8BTC to 162BTC and i have been working from the lowest up so all good so far.

Now onto the bigger ones (more tempting for hackers). Fingers crossed.
Man you are rich , by the way. Just to release you some stress.

OK I get, there's no form because the balance is 0. This has to be fixed! Boussac, please let those with 0 balance fill the forms, becayse the 0 is wrong for many

Try reading the page again. See that little notice addressing exactly what you're talking about? I even screenshotted it for you to be helpful, scroll up.

I'm still getting this never-ending loading page on https://www.instawallet.org, I can see no front page at all? 404 errors on all of my URLs even when I paste them at the loading page :s

Boussac can you shed any light on this? What's the next step?  Huh

Hi Boussac

This is happening to me now

Are you just overloaded?

Got all my time dependent (<50BTC) ones in anyway Smiley

Got through the claim process, although definitely not smoothly. When I was on page 1 of this thread I went to try it and got the 404 result. Registered on the site to post that experience in this thread. The restrictions on Newbies slowed me down, so I read more and finally figured out the weird copy/paste thing. I'm guessing you have to get a session or similar cookie on the front page and then that allows the wallet URL to work? Not sure, but it's odd and a seemingly-pointless hassle. I only had a token amount in my wallet, and who knows if those funds will ever reach me, but for what it's worth -- now that I'm not in Newbie jail anymore -- the claims can work.  YMMV, apparently.

I just like to add that despite the pressures Boussac and team must be under for what was a free service with an up-front low security warning, they're doing a marvellous job.

I'm pleased that my idea to add a CAPTCHA was included as well as someone else's idea to have the option to cryptographically sign from an address associated with a wallet.

Good work and thanks Smiley

Never mind, I managed to put a claim in for that address by using the workaround others have mentioned (go to https://www.instawallet.org/ first and then paste the wallet ID in after).  You really should have it set up so that original wallet URLs work to get to the claim pages - the instructional text on the Instawallet front page is currently misleading.

The workaround doesn't appear to work for my other two wallets by the way, they each get a 404-looking error but different to the one I pasted earlier:

The page you were looking for doesn't exist.

You may have mistyped the address or the page may have moved.

Hi Boussac,

I get a 404 on all three previously valid Instawallet URLs I have.

I happen to have a screenshot of the one with the most BTC in, dated not long before the incident occurred, so I know for a fact that the wallet URL was valid and had an above-zero balance of 1.2725 BTC.  OK, this might be small beans compared to some other claimants, but it's still my money and I'd like to claim it back.  I can also show that in the blockchain that its public address received funds over a period of time:

How do I claim my money when my wallet addresses all get a 404?

Thanks.

The last transaction into my one wallet for the claim came from another wallet I control. I would like to do the "Cryptographic proof of ownership" thing:

"If you or someone you know controls the private key of a Bitcoin address that sent a transaction to this wallet, you can help us by providing cryptographic evidence. The owner of the emitting Bitcoin address can sign a message and generate a signature which we can use to prove ownership of this wallet. In the fields below, enter the Bitcoin address of the emitter, a message, and the signature of the message generated by the private key associated with the Bitcoin address."

Can anyone advise a non-tech how to do this??

Thanks

I've never done that - but there should be guides around letting you know how to do it. This is one of the pieces of proof that could be used, in my opinion, to reclaim a wallet.

I think at this point in time Boussac should do a recording of how the reclaim process works and post it here, video with his cell, and uploaded within 30 mins of this post, or else it's just all false. :p

Here is the claims page, for those who want to know. Probably looks different if the balance is over 0 though, someone else please take a screenshot, censor out the URL in Paint or whatever, and post.

Thanks,

We need Boussac to address what people should do regarding these "zero balance" pages when funds were actually sent to these wallets shortly before Instawallet went offline. How do we claim? And when do we get the opportunity?

I am probably on the ignore list, so someone else needs to voice it.

Okay I got it now. You can't use your bookmarks. You need to go to the instawallet.org and paste /w/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx to the url.

pyedpyper have you tried it this way?

I have finally got it to work!

Boussac this may be useful for you to know:

1. Accessing via bookmark does not work.
2. Cutting and pasting the full URL from a document does not work.
3. Accessing Instawallet.org and then APPENDING /w/xxxxxxxxxxx does work.

I do not understand why this should make any difference, but it does.

This will be good for others to know.

So the reclaim process worked for you if you did:

1. Go to instawallet.org in browser
2. Copy /w/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx from whenever and pasting it in after instawallet.org in the adress line of browser, then

?

In that case, the procedure for how to do it should be described in minute details on their web page. Perhaps they are not criminals after all, but surely they're arrogant persons with lack of respect for their customers. If a business were to ignore all customers with a complaint, they surely would not have much customers after a while...

I think any way of accessing the url should be accepted, but I do think there should be added a captcha system of sorts to prevent any automated scripts to try try to reclaim wallets.

Yes, that is the only way it works - pasting after instawallet.org

And they should definitely state this on their main page. Most people will try what I did, bookmark first then cut and paste - and then be stuck.

There is a captcha on the page.

While I can understand Boussac being swamped, he currently has worse customer service than BitInstant. (No offense to BitInstant, but your customer service, or lack thereof, is terrible) Albeit, all that aside, Boussac's behavior is arrogant at best, and suspicious at worst. I find it vaguely reminiscent of BTCST's damage control phase, but a hack is stressful for anyone. I'm just going to suggest to Boussac, cough up that police report number. And don't just post a random number, because remember it can be verified. Speaking directly to Boussac, it's your customer's right to know. Keeping them in the dark doesn't instill any trust in them.

As Little Richard once said, "Greed has taken the whole universe, and nobody is worried about their soul".

Anyways after I went to my main one that had coins in it before the whole mess, it says the balance is zero.

Wondering if this is just an error as the site states "The wallet balance may not include the latest transactions. We will update them before we process the claims."

Either way cant fill out a claim or anything. Wondering what to do now.

Same issue on one of my wallets. Please can you send a PM  to Boussac and ask him about this. I think I am on his hated/ignore list by now so probably will not get through to him.

I just want my money back.  I don't care about the police report.  As long as I get my money back, he can call himself anything he wants and file whatever report he wants or not.

Asking for the police report number that he claimed to have filed is a hedge of sorts for those of us which have funds residing at InstaWallet. A lot could happen within the next 90 days, hence wanting to get in front of this fiasco as quickly as possible in case the worse comes to fruition.

By them ignoring such a simple request, it sheds a dim light on their overall operations. There's more at stake here than just those who've had funds at InstaWallet.

Even as we speak, he's still breaking up the larger wallets into 1,000 BTC wallets. I guess that's why he doesn't have time to address any issues posed--securing 1,000 BTC wallets comes first. I'm curious as to what the other partners think about this action. Amazingly, nary a peep from them.

Herodes valid point. I think that could be what is going on with the Bitinstant thread. People who barely have any posts or just registered are saying they got their refund. Of course there is no real way for us to prove it. Not quite sure who is telling the truth and who isnt. Bitland seems to be in distress these days. MtGox, Bitinstant, Instawallet.. argg.. Guess with the more visability of Bitcoin the more it will get attacked. Sad

Herodes. I registered that date because I lurked here for a little bit, and never felt the need to post until the Instawallet thing, and now the bitinstant. Argg been a rough couple weeks. Anyways I have about 13 Instawallet URLS all are empty expect one.
About half of those URLs work, but they dont come up with any claim form I am assuming due to the balance being zero.

My main wallet had funds in it, but the balance is zero and it doesnt have a claim process anywhere on the page. But when I go to blockchain I can see all my money being transferred into cold storage. So it did have money prior to the hack.

Fair enough - that's why I issued a possible shill alert. Not saying you are, but that it would be possible. If the claims process was fraudulent, making shill accounts would be away of giving it some legitimacy and making all legitimate users seem like fools.

So M. Noizat,

What do you propose that I do?

I appreciate you have 3 million wallets, but you do not have 3 million people trying to talk with you here - merely a handful.

I have 2 wallets, both with coin in them. I have the correct URLs. I have entered them on Chrome and Firefox - with and without the w, with http and with https. I have done this repeatedly from cut and paste. I have re-freshed over and over again.

And still I get a 404 error. I have not made up the URLs and I have not entered them incorrectly. Both wallets were active weeks before Instawallet went offline.

Please will you make a useful suggestion. There is 100% an issue with your process. I am not making this up and I know how to enter URLs correctly.

Thank you.

There's no claim process. That's my claim. And that's why it doesn't work.

Way to go mate. Good job.

I am not ignoring questions steelboy I am ignoring people who threaten or insult me here or via PM (they are going on my ignore list).

There were three millions wallets created on instawallet.org: how could I possibly answer to everyone ?
The reason we set up an online claim process is precisely because we cannot deal with each and every user by email, post or PM.
Had I started using other means than an online form, I would have been swamped.

I will nonetheless make sure their claims are processed fairly if they come up with a valid url.

Thank you Boussac.

So after going to instawallet.org and then copying and pasting my URL from /w/ on it worked. Weird how you can access some from a bookmark and others you cant. IDK.

Anyways after I went to my main one that had coins in it before the whole mess, it says the balance is zero.
Checking the blockchain for the address confirms all the money goes to cold storage.

Wondering if this is just an error as the site states "The wallet balance may not include the latest transactions. We will update them before we process the claims."

Either way cant fill out a claim or anything. Wondering what to do now.

I personnally tested my urls on the claim form and it worked.
If you are getting a 404 error it could be that your url is made up.
All instawallet urls that have received transactions are in the database.

Boussac (Pierre) you come back after ignoring questions and the first thing you say to a guy who has lost a shedload if coins is that maybe his URL is made up.

I, for one, have not sent you any PMs, and hopefully haven't insulted you when I kindly suggested wanting to suck the dicks of you and your partners--it was meant as a complement.

I was the first to start pressing for the police report number of which others have kindly followed suit requesting same. Is it quite possible that everybody who has requested it is on your ignore list, for I see that you've failed, once again, to give it after claiming you filed such a report? Surely, you didn't lie, for you've proven that you're a trustworthy chap.

Since I'm probably on your ignore list, thus you won't read this, I will resort to a threat: Provide the police report number or I will dox you and all your partners, along with your families, probably on a self-hosted site oppose to here on this forum. Full disclosure: I am not making a physical threat of any kind.

Now, about that police report.

Ok. Fair enough.

I have not once been rude, offensive or threatening.

I have asked politely for information about my own accounts and you have told me to wait for the claims process.

I will be entering my urls tomorrow morning and I pray that they will be there without any problems.

In the meantime, Boussac, please can you reveal the crime report number of the case you have filed with the police judiciare. This should not be a problem and by not answering you are coming off as suspicious.

Please calm my fears and give us this info. M

Thanks

That's a very immature way to deal with troubbles, so if somebody insults you or make you feel 'bad', then you ignore them. Wow - what a cavalier attitude. May I suggest that you develop a thicker skin ? Not everyone is polite by nature, and having lost coins and it being dwindled up in a non-transparent process at instawallet doesn't make people feel better.

People on the internet will throw accusations and insults your way, unfounded or not - you shouldn't take that personal. Quite the contrary, you should listen to them, ignore their insults, and answer calmly and rationally. Often these people are angry for a reason, but if you treat them like an intelligent and civil businessman does, ie. answering professionaly and ignoring their lack of manners, then you're the bigger man.

Ignoring people who shout at you is a really bad solution, they're still customers even if they don't have the best manners.

This being said, I'm probably ignored by Boussac by now, so somebody, please quote my message, so he will see it!  Grin

You are ignoring questions. You have repeatedly ignored the many requests from many different forum members to provide a police report file reference. That is a fact.

I have been writing to you most respectfully all week, and you have ignored all of it. And the only time you take time to respond is to tell me my wallet URL's are made up. Can you not see how that might piss somebody off?

For the record I will say it again: The SINGULAR reason I will be taking the time to file a police report tomorrow is because you refuse to confirm with us that you have.

I have 5 wallets, 2 with coins, 3 empty. They are definitely not made up.

I have them in my bookmarks and in a Word document.

I have tried to access using the bookmarks, and cut and paste from the Word document. Many times with no success. Over the period of over an hour.

Furthermore I have the blockchain addresses for the wallets with coins in them, the precise balances of both wallets and the entire trail from those wallets to your Cold Storage wallet. The one wallet was accessed a couple of hours before Instawallet went down and the balance was there. The other was sent to just before Instawallet went down and the funds were confirmed there on the blockchain.

I've been writing posts addressing you directly for a week and sent multiple PM's to you with many questions, all of which you have ignored. And your response to me now is to suggest I have made up the URL's!?

How dare you?
