1. When and why did you become interested in cryptocurrencies?

It's been quite a while. I registered in 2015, but it was around 2016 when I fully understood Bitcoin and the crypto market as a whole. Altcoins were also getting popular at that time, so that's where I started to focus more.

2. When and why did you buy your first bitcoin?

In 2015, I started buying Bitcoin, but most of it I used for gambling. It's a bit of a regret that I didn’t hold onto a lot, could’ve probably retired early by now. But anyway, I’m still in the crypto space, and I’m sure there’s still a chance ahead.

3. How did you get on the forum?

Honestly, I just learned through research, but I got the wrong idea at first. They told me you could earn easily through campaigns. Unfortunately, I ended up being part of those who didn’t post well in the past,  there were a lot of spammers back then. But I learned from it. I just had a rough start.

4.1. How do you consider whether 2-3 years of experience in cryptocurrency is enough to successfully invest or does an investor need to receive special education?

Yes, to invest, even 1 year is enough as long as you have time to study and, of course, learn from experience. It’s not that hard to learn since the resources are online and free.

4.2. What prevents mass adoption of cryptocurrencies?

The public has a bad perception of crypto, often associating it with scams. It’s likely due to a lack of education, and the government really needs to step in and help with raising awareness and understanding.

4.3. What is the situation with cryptocurrencies in your country? Are there any problems when exchanging for fiat? Which city or place in your country is best suited for cryptocurrency holders?

Our country now has a uniform stance on crypto, and it’s stricter compared to before. But I guess that’s good news since it helps reduce scams, as many scammers really use crypto. With proper education, we can minimize these scams.

4.4. Are you using the Lightning network? If yes, for what purposes?
I heard but I haven't use it yet.

4.5. Which secure cryptocurrency wallets are you currently using?

electrum now, and also sometimes trustwallet and exodus.

4.6. Does the huge amount of betting and gambling advertising hurt the forum?

Nope, because they're one of the reasons we have so many active members in the forum, signature campaigns. People wouldn’t stay active if they weren’t getting paid, and that’s just the reality for most of us.

5. What do you think of the current Merit system and signature campaigns?  Do they harm the forum?

Nope, merit system is a god sent, it was introduce to reduce spam in the forum and it did.

6. The most useful forum topic? Most helpful users?

There are tons of useful topics, too many to name, but these two come to mind: LoyceV and e_o_l_o_e. They’re solid contributors to the forum, almost like robots with how good they are.

7. 3 things you would implement on the forum?

The forum is perfect, maybe more mods to clean more spams.

8. Do you trade on exchanges or invest in projects?

Both have their advantages. Investing is less stressful, while trading requires controlling your emotions. Trading can provide consistent income if you're profitable, while investing is more for the long term.

9. Tell a story about your big profit or big loss?

Big profit was way back 2017, most of my investments pump, and my earning in bounties are good.

10. What do you think about the DEFI ecosystem?

I'm not too interested in it right now, but who knows, maybe in the future.

11. Is your anonymity a vital necessity or precaution?

It's a vital necessity because that's the main purpose of Bitcoin or crypto. If that aspect disappears, it feels like we won’t fully enjoy the benefits of holding or investing in crypto.

12. The last cryptocurrency book you read?

Not fan or reading books, but watching videos, I'm always in.

13. Advise 3 cryptocurrencies/tokens for investment in the next 1-2 years?

not suggesting altcoins for now, just focus on bitcoin, make your life simple and easy.

14. How much will Bitcoin cost at the end of 2024?

$100k I guess.

15. P.S. (optional):

Thank you for this interview, now I have a post I can look back on in the future. I hope people can learn something from my posts and be inspired. This forum has changed my life, as I earned a lot here, so I should really value it.

Goodnight, o_e_l_e_o 🌹

1. When and why did you become interested in cryptocurrencies?
I became interested in cryptocurrency early 2021, after I was scammed using bitcoin as a means of payment. After the successful scam, people were still saying good things about bitcoin while my experience said otherwise. I therefore decided to research bitcoin, it was then I understood that I was scammed by Ponzi schemeers and not the innocent bitcoin which was merely used as a means of payment.

2. When and why did you buy your first bitcoin?
The year 2021, after covid-19. I understood that the world really changed and only people who worked online survived the covid. I decided to work online, but I was unfortunate to fall into the hands of scammers. So, my first bitcoin was sent to the scammers and when I look at the wallet now, I am pained seeing that I sent over .3 BTC to scammers

3. How did you get on the forum?
I was introduced here by GeorgeJohn. He saw my lengthy and quality posts on facebook. He told me that he'll introduce me to a platform where I could earn with my writing skill. I'm grateful to him.

4.1. How do you consider whether 2-3 years of experience in cryptocurrency is enough to successfully invest or does an investor need to receive special education?
If you talk of trading, you can be talking of years. But investment such as using the DCA method and HODLing for long time can be done even after a day of sincere education by an experienced person

4.2. What prevents mass adoption of cryptocurrencies?
Misinformation, Fear, The Government, Bad eggs in the industry. But it seems that bitcoin has found its way to overcome all of the above because mass adoption is gearing up already.

4.3. What is the situation with cryptocurrencies in your country? Are there any problems when exchanging for fiat? Which city or place in your country is best suited for cryptocurrency holders?
The government of my country seems confused about cryptocurrency. They'll ban it today and denounce the ban tomorrow. Infact, they are planning to tax cryptocurrency while it's still banned in the country.

My country men are smart, the government cannot stop them from exchanging cryptocurrency for fiat.

4.4. Are you using the Lightning network? If yes, for what purposes?
No, I don't drink coffee

4.5. Which secure cryptocurrency wallets are you currently using?
Electrum with multiple points of failure

4.6. Does the huge amount of betting and gambling advertising hurt the forum?
No, rather it helps bring new users to the forum. However, the disadvantage is that quality of conversation keeps deteriorating, as many posts for weekly bucks

5. What do you think of the current Merit system and signature campaigns?  Do they harm the forum?
The merit system is fine to fight spam and account farming, but the distribution is not fair. Merit seems to locate majorly those who issue it (the merit sources)

The signature campaign is a major sustainer of the forum. Thanks to theymos for keeping it alive

6. The most useful forum topic? Most helpful users?
Generally;
LoyceV;
e_o_l_o_e;
PowerGlove;
The then Ratimov;
Personally, especially my newbie days;
1miau;
CryptopreneurBrainboss;
Lovesmayfamilis;
M2017; sent my merits to legendary even when he isn't a merit source.
The Sceptical Chemist; (Who later blocked me and stopped meriting me because he thought one magicalking was my alt.
All the guys in the technical section of the forum.

7. 3 things you would implement on the forum?
1. The forum is good;
2. The forum is good;
3. Maybe a decentralized forum.

8. Do you trade on exchanges or invest in projects?
I did try trading and discovered it wasn't for me. My emotion was always swinging.
I don't invest in projects either because when it's low I'm almost troubled but if bitcoin goes to 10k today, I'll still be strong with a strong confidence that it will surely give a new ATH.

9. Tell a story about your big profit or big loss?
big loss: during 2021 bull run, as a newbie I was asked to buy Shiba and multiply my money. I bought and it crashed on me. I'm still holding it but on -75 % now.
Big profit: I don't think I've made a big profit. Besides, I love DCA, I wouldn't know when I'm losing or gaining.

10. What do you think about the DEFI ecosystem?
Defi is the future of finance, but it seems anyone involving should first learn to overcome scammers

11. Is your anonymity a vital necessity or precaution?
A precaution, the government are not after me and they'll definitely not be after me. I don't need to wear the face of Satoshi

12. The last cryptocurrency book you read?
The Age of Cryptocurrency by Paul Vigna and Micheal J.
I love the book because it transitioned from history to the future.

13. Advise 3 cryptocurrencies/tokens for investment in the next 1-2 years?
Buy bitcoin, if you want to diversify your portfolio you can get Ether and BNB. Just to be sure that you are investing in something that'll still be there in 2 to 3 years time.

14. How much will Bitcoin cost at the end of 2024?
The window of $50k to $75k is still open. Things might change next year after US election.

15. P.S. (optional):
Thanks community for shaping me, guiding me against high rate of unemployment in my country. Thanks Hhampuz my first employer, thanks Best_change, thanks JohnGeorge, thanks theymos for keeping here and thanks everyone for a good 3 years.

Hello zasad@, may I be interviewed? I have seen this thread from my newbie days till today. Maybe it's time to tell my own story. I know Lovesmayfamilis may want to read my story because she's one of those who impacted me as a newbie with her constant positive criticism. At first, I hated her and thought she was throwing stones at me, but I finally realised she and others were actually supplying me stones to build my way up in the forum and the industry at large.
OK, I'll look at your profile and send you the questions today or tomorrow.

When Satoshi developed Bitcoin, he wasn't thinking about getting rich. Such interviews should be from the heart, and maybe from your words newcomers will learn the history, because many people use custodial services and they are happy to be slaves of the system.

Don't be sad. Look at this topic, because everyone here was interviewed for "free" and this is an indicator of the "purity" of the BTC-community, when people do something out of good intentions (popularization of bitcoin), and not mercantile considerations.

That's right. We know what will happen if the interview offer changes from the offer to receiving merits if someone passes it. You will see dozens of people who want to, and most of all, newbies who have known for years what bitcoin and crypto are. There will be very colorful interviews. OP previously awarded merits; you can see how actively this topic was going.

Although I am in no way ironic about those who sincerely shared their experience, those people whose history should be carved in stone, it was very interesting to read.

People should want to share their story to encourage new bitcoiners. It shouldn't be all about how much ya gonna pay me to do an interview.
It was just a joke. Smiley You shouldn't take that phrase seriously. I see that people went to this interview because of their enthusiasm and desire to share their experience (30+ pages of this topic confirm that). And I agree with what you said, that not everything is measured by money.

That's actually a sad thought honestly and sums up some here. I'm all for making a buck, but giving back is also good and what's gonna keep bitcoin going strong.

All right, it's also many questions and takes time to reply to each question.

Thanks for the opportunity to share my experience on cryptocurrency.

1. When and why did you become interested in cryptocurrencies?
I new about cryptocurrency in 2018, and I became interested in cryptocurrency in 2019, during the lockdown because I was boring and needed to make use of my time to learn something new, so that i can also be part of the crypto space.

2. When and why did you buy your first bitcoin?
I bought my first bitcoin 2020, but I had not gotten the the right knowledge then, so I bought at a high price and when bitcoin price went below my entry point, I panicked and sold because I borrowed the money and thought that I can make profit within a short period of time. I messed it up.

3. How did you get on the forum?
I got here through a friend that I told about my zeal to learn more about how bitcoin works, and he directed me to this forum that he came accross it online, when he was making some reseach.

4.1. How do you consider whether 2-3 years of experience in cryptocurrency is enough to successfully invest or does an investor need to receive special education?
Actually, from what I have learnt so far in the forum, I have come to understand that when one knows the basic concepts of bitcoin, which is how to buy bitcoin and which is the right wallet to use for the safety of your bitcoin, you can go ahead and start investing. This is because part of the basic concept of bitcoin is ro invest in a long term which can be from 4 -10yrs. And along the line as the person is continues with his accumulation, he can start learning the other part of it. This means that 2-3yrs is too long to learn before investing, because the earlier one invests in bitcoin, the better for him. Therefore, i will say that one month is cool, since you are only going to buy from an exchange and transfer it into your noncustodial wallet. Learning the rest can continue for as long as the person feels, he can.

4.2. What prevents mass adoption of cryptocurrencies?
The government is the first thing that I will say can hinder the adoption of crypto, when they bring laws that is not crypto friendly, like banning bitcoin in the country. Secondly, lack of knowledge can also hinfer the mass adoption of crypto, when the people don't know the difference bitcoin altcoins and bitcoin, they might end up investing in altcoins and when it pumps and dump. Investirs will lose and this can make them scare from bitcoin, because they will think that all crptocurrency are the same.

4.3. What is the situation with cryptocurrencies in your country? Are there any problems when exchanging for fiat? Which city or place in your country is best suited for cryptocurrency holders?
Cryptocurrency is restricted from banks but individuals have access to it.
Centralized exchanges has made the exchanfe of cryptocurrency (bitcoin) very easy to sell and have your fiat currency in your bank account through their P2P trade.
The Federal Capital Territory Abuja, will be a good place for cryptocurrency holders.

4.4. Are you using the Lightning network? If yes, for what purposes?
Yes, I use LN for smaller transactions because it is cheaper.

4.5. Which secure cryptocurrency wallets are you currently using?
I use electrum wallet currently due to some unique deatures that it has, like allowing double spending using RBF, CPFP ans coin control.

5. What do you think of the current Merit system and signature campaigns?  Do they harm the forum?
It is cool and I like the initiative because it will make one eager to learn and improve himself so that he can grow and start earning something for his contributions on the forum. This shows that every member of this forum has a compensation for contributing towards the forum growth. It may or may not harm the forum, because it depends on individuals how they will want to take things for granted.

6. The most useful forum topic? Most helpful users?
JJG’s Outline of Bitcoin Investment Ideas
Helpful users are JJG becacause I have learnt so much from him from our discussions on the best way to go about your bitcoininvestment with the best strategy for a newb ie like me which is regulat DCA. o_e_l_e_o is also someone that I have also learnt a lot from on wallet software.

7. 3 things you would implement on the forum?

8. Do you trade on exchanges or invest in projects?
I don't trade on echanges because it is a risky practice and I don't want to take such risk, since my plans is to keep on stashing my bitcoin bag and hodli, i believe in investment because there will be a bigger return in the long run compared to trading.

9. Tell a story about your big profit or big loss?
No big profit or loss yet because I haven't experience any bull run and I haven't sold any of my bitcoin after I started accumulating. The only time that I lost when when I sold out of panic because I don't understand much about bitcoin and this was in 2020.

10. What do you think about the DEFI ecosystem?

11. Is your anonymity a vital necessity or precaution?
My anonymity is a vital neccessity for privacy sake.

12. The last cryptocurrency book you read?
I haven't read any book yet on cryptocurrency but I have read so many articles on cryptocurrency.

13. Advise 3 cryptocurrencies/tokens for investment in the next 1-2 years?
Bitcoin Bitcoin Bitcoin.. We can't trust those altcoins out there, because they are like gambling.

14. How much will Bitcoin cost at the end of 2023?
I hope to see bitcoin price above $31k, since $31k is the highest price that bitcoin has reached in this current circle.

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to"Non-custodial"
September 19, 2023, 04:50:12 PM
....and for example, one time more than 20 years ago, I recall telling a story about eating some live squid to some family members, and I recall that I sent an e-mail on the topic, and my e-mail was only a few paragraphs, but I went over a lot of the details of how my experience had gone... and it probably took me more than three hours to write those three paragraphs.. I wrote the first draft, and then edited it, and then the next day, I edited it again, and added some more facts, and then right around the third day I sent out that e-mail and my live squid eating story..
Wait, wait, wait: what?
You just said we are not the only recipient of JJG's walls of text TM?
Are you telling us there are various versions of JJG's walls of text TM in the various alternate realities where you are living?
I thought we were special!

Since technically, the "relatively" long story that I told was within an alternate universe, it was also in another language which is not easy to describe in English, but yeah.. essentially you are describing the matter lo sufficientemente accurately.  ¡Basta!

I hate to admit it.

So in the post you cited, I am largely recommending that forum members (whether newbies or otherwise) need to spend some time UPping their "wall of text" game.

And, so add some meat.  Flesh it out.  Give us a few personal details.  Take the long route.  Elaborate.  Try to say what you are going to say in a descriptive kind of way.  Maybe provide some references (surely optional).  Tell us the color of the jacket and that it had holes in two of its pockets rather than just saying that there was a jacket involved.

Yes.  Those kinds of suggestions.. since I am hesitant to give advice, I would like to refer to this as providing suggestions.

Hey.. I know some members are way better than me, and some of the members will format their walls of text, divide the walls of text into subplots and themes and even provide citations, and surely even though that's better, "we" do not necessarily strive to have the perfect become the enemy of the good.

Do we?

Do we?

DDDdddddddooooooooo WE?

Maybe that's "royal we?"  Didn't mean to harass uie-pooie too much with that final question.. .......................

.........................or did I?

Well, in the meantime, many have already given their opinion on the evolution of this topic, but we haven't had the opportunity to listen to the OP yet.

That's true but let's give the OP some credit here, he has done a great job by getting this far with this thread and it made many members to air out their own view on some questions (if not all) listed.
About the OP, I don't know if he has been active for sometime now to check on this thread, to do something about it because I know he would if he had the chance to come across these requests of updating the thread.

Quote
zasad@ what is your opinion on this matter? What difficulties have you had in developing this project? What do you think could be done to make the topic even more dynamic?

Nice questions, but I don't think he has much to do on this issue. This thread or project as the case maybe is an interesting one if not we won't have been here seeking for a way forward to promote it even more... He just need to do one or two touches to the questions and we're good to go.
To me the best is to wait for the OP to get back from his vacation 😁.
