Completely new to Crytocurrencies, but very interested.

First read about Bitcoin years ago, but never got involved and forgot about it until recently. Obviously regretting that decision, lol.

Anyways, I have set up my laptop to mine Litecoins for the last week (I know, not very profitable at all) just so that I could prove that I could figure out how to do it. Also set it up for bitcoin mining to see if I could get results, but switched back to Litecoin after making sure I could bitcoin mine.

Would like to now build a simple unit to mine either Litecoin or Terracoins; still new to this, so I am unsure which direction I will go. Also thinking about building the simple GPU unit for LTC, and buying a Butterfly labs Jalapeno for mining Terracoins; I am more interested in Cryptocurrency as a hobby that *might* pay off big time at some point but that is not the reason for getting into it.

Great community, and a special thanks to CryptoJunky / CryptoJunky.com as those guides were very helpful.

Hi everyone Smiley

Im from South Africa, I have been a bit late in the whole Bitcoin thing, I have only heard about Bitcoins and cryptocurrencies about a month ago; and got really intrigued about the mining.  Unfortunately, I also noticed that there are new Avalon ASIC miner machines (and other hardware) that make mining BTC impossible with my 6870 HD ATI.  I am starting out with Feathercoin (although it is new, at least I can mine some..), but not sure if it will have value one day.

My problem is that is nearly impossible to buy Bitcoin from South Africa, and support on okpay.com site I got approved on is lacking Sad Frustrating that I cant get hold of any BTC!

I'm fascinated by the possibilities of Bitcoin and the effect it will have on the internet art scene.  I'm hoping to run some experiments here in a Bitcoin-user rich environment to see what new possibilities it opens up.  Smiley

I am not so impressed by bitcoin, been using it for years. But Ripple may actually become a success! Bitcoin and Ripple is like the yin and yang.

Hello from Australia!
My name is Craig and I work for an NGO in child safety services.
I've been watching the forum for about three weeks and finally decided to join it.
I'm very interested to see the development of Bitcoins and related communities.

NGO = Government funded?  Can you Aussies not make sure your children are safe without NGO's?

If so...**moocher**  **cough **.

Just kidding, welcome aboard, start mining or hashing for the cause asap.

Yes NGO = Non-Government Organisation
We are funded to care for children that have been relinquished by there parents due to extreme needs.

Thanks for the welcome Smiley

"Are there no prisons?  Are there no workhouses?"

Erm..... What are you asking?

It's a quote from "A Christmas Carol", when Scrooge was asked what to do about the homeless children.
