Hi....newbie here.  Was pointed this direction by the folks at Ripples.  I'm a new Bitcoin user, however, so am also interested in learning from those with a bit of bitcoin experience.  Hopefully, I can stay on here long enough to post in other places and receive new XRP as well.  Thanks!

Just a Bitcoin fan from Canada, I mostly like the mining aspect of bitcoins so I spend most my time in the hardware/software section

Hi all,

Just saying hello and letting you know that I'm looking forward to participate in something historic.

I'll take a look around but if someone can direct me towards satoshi's posts or any Security posts I'd be grateful.

Cheers,

John.

Canadian guy here, just heard about bitcoins a couple months ago, and I live off the grid with no high-speed internet, so can't get in on the action yet.
I stayed up all night reading this forum, some of Morpheus's stuff about Goldcoin and stablecoin, and I am fascinated.  I see a day when there will be hundreds of distributed currencies, like Googlecoin, Exxoncoin, IBMcoin, GEcoin, maybe even Labourcoin (tagged to the value of 1 hour of unskilled labor) and so on, and a bunch of exchanges, and people will have highly diversified portfolios of currency, trading globally, without interference.  Despite what the Europeans are doing, and the Americans and the British, with their kleptocratic QE schemes and so on, a free market will arise, based on physical wealth.  As an anarcho-capitalist, this truly gives me hope.

An off the grid guy! I'm also like minded but not off the grid at the moment. Hopefully some of these *coins or p2p currency does take off because the power governments and elite bankers have over all of us is insane in my opinion.

Yep.  I went off the grid because the entire power and wireline (aka landline) infrastructure here is part of a state-sponsored monopoly.  One must attempt to starve the beast, and I'm looking into using my stored pc's at my friends's house to mine lightcoins, and trade them for bitcoins.  Are there any resources for secure lightcoin mining and wallets?  I don't have the resources to mine bitcoins, and will be too busy this summer to sell goods at Bitmit and so forth.

Hi. I'm geeknik. I'm new to this site, but not new to alternative currencies. I mine BTC and LTC as a hobby. Power in Oklahoma is cheap (0.05kWh right now) so if I make a few bucks here and there, great. Wink

Here is a little bit about me. I am: A former police officer. A free thinker. A gun owner. A patriot. A prepper. A geek. A gamer. An Android kernel hacker. A security researcher (Also a member of Google's Security Hall of Fame). A Chrome fan (Browser + OS). A Firefox contributor (code and testing). Linux user since 1995. I currently work for as a Security Engineer/Systems Administrator for an Internet security startup in San Francisco (I live in Oklahoma City though). I am also an amateur radio operator.

If anyone is interested in getting help securing their websites, I will gladly help you you for a small BTC or LTC donation. Wink

Hello, Bitcoin world. I want to learn more about Ripple and OpenCoin's business model. I am making this introductory post because of the new user requirements. Only four more posts to go.

Hello,

I invested some money in Bitcoins right after the crash, sold when the value went up, then bought again and sold again, and I intend to keep on doing this for a while. I guess this makes me a newbie daytrader, but I became very interested in cryptocurrencies and want to learn more about Bitcoin instead of just trading it, so here I am  Smiley

I wish there was a nice concise book giving the basics, assuming one knew rudimentary programming, encryption, and networking, as I'm sure most here do.  If anyone can suggest one, I'm all ears, or eyes, anyway.  ;-)

Hello,

My husband has been interested in bitcoin for the past couple of years and talked me into signing up here so I can get familiar with the community and jargon.

I'm looking forward to learning more about bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

E

Look at the thread called "Goldcoin and Stablecoin proposals", lots of interesting ideas there, and a nice cross-section of some of the challenges involved in generating a new currency.
