Hello all Cool

I'm just here to check out the community and see if I can learn a bit about this weird and interesting economy. I'm not much of an IT/programming buff, although there are aspects of it which fascinate me, so I can only hope some of the forums' collective wisdom rubs off on me. I've been following Bitcoin off and on for about 4 months and will be curious to watch as events unfold. I happened upon a handful of bitcents the other day and so I've been messing around with some of the gambling sites users around here have set up - the clever bastards Cheesy

I study Philosophy and German at University. I'm from the U.S., but I'm finishing my degree this Winter in Trier, Germany.

Cheers

Hello friends, I am New to Bitcoin and I am facing serious problems. I installed the guiminer software and later when I opened I got A warning message saying the OPen CL is not installed. I ignored it and when I clicked start mining an error message showed at the bottom of the guiminer saying that the dll file could not load.
I have 4GB RAM 512 MB graphics card NVIDIA and the OS is Windows XP

the recent NVIDIA geForce drivers have OpenCL 1.0, the latest GeForce 280.xx Driver have OpenCL 1.1 which should be more compatible. it's a recent addition to the beta drivers, so it should be in the WHQL's

1. uninstall the current nvidia driver,
2. download and install the newer 280.xx WHQL version and
3. reboot,
4. see if GUIMiner starts up by reading the logs. if it does work, you should notice the GPU fan starting to get louder.

mostly i expect you won't get very far, as GUIminer isn't built for NVIDIA's OpenCL and it will be far below 100Mhash/s, perhaps 30-50MHash.

Have you considered buying a new video card or are just testing the waters ?

i tried GUIminer with NVIDIA previous to changing my video card, i was running 275.33 and ATI AMD SDK 2.4  (due to not running beyond 30MH/s) and found that i had stability issues with OpenGL applications that i needed to use, as well as PhysX and other applications. there may be better options for Nvidia mining, but i'd recommend not using the AMD SDK if you're going to use a GeForce GTX card, you only end up getting 30-50Mhash/s, and an unstable gaming system

I know nussing. LoL I'm not a troll I swear. You've gotten further than I did. But I would go back and install Open CL, since that is the error message popping up. That's all I know.

Hey all, yet another new user here. Only signed up due to the recent MyBitcoin debacle - I have tried my correct password, plus every possible permutation I can think of, and none of them are being accepted as valid. So hoping to work out who to contact about it here (my email is associated with the account so they should be able to verify my identity that way). It sucks that MyBitcoin went down the very day my first bitcoins arrived from TheMadHatter, but now I know not to trust an online wallet >_< (also trying to contact TheMadHatter about another trade...)

Anyway, I generally inhabit I2P, and am working on creating useful services there and introducing more people to it (those bitcoins were destined for a new VPS to host services on...), and I like bitcoin as a way of preserving my pseudonymity while enabling me to contribute. I look forward to meeting you all!

I'm only here to learn why http://yyz.us/bitcoin/cpuminer-installer.zip
needs to be opened with another program? I already have a mining.bitcoin.cz account with a worker account thing, which reads If you see connection errors, please point your miners to new URL: api2.bitcoin.cz
I have the bitcoin wallet and I have found no way to set it up or configure it. I found the options but it doesn't say configure. I am an epic failure and retard. Aside from that can someone email me a response? [email protected]
I think forums should be gotten rid of.

Hi, I have been around here a while but mostly as a silent observer.  More active in the IRC channels.  Had a need to talk about MyBitCoin, but, found out this form isn't a "sign up and talk" type thing *unfortunate*.

Anywhere here I come.

Newbie and feeling quite old and non techie lol.  Trying to figure out this whole system and watching the volatile market.  This site is great and I have been lurking a minute. Too bad so many scammers out here in the world trying to beat people out of their money. Glad to see a good source of information and a sort of area to build trust.  Getting Bitcoin is a tough project looks like and holding on to it even harder.

Peace and Have a Great Day,

Red

Hi All!

I have been playing around with bitcoins for several months now and have setup a Texas Hold'em Poker website that players can exchange their BTC for credits and play the Hold'em game of their choice. I'm also offering FREEROLLS with BTC prizes weekly.

Other than that, I'm a recovering corporate CIS guy who more enjoys working for myself than working for others! Smiley

As to my latest project, I have actually worked in "real" land based casinos as a table games dealer and with that experience, I know how players want to be treated and what they expect. I hope to bring that expertise to BTC Poker Room and offer true gaming service to the BTC users community!
