Hello all,
I'm from UK and started mining about two weeks ago. Started off with with 2 x 6870s at 600 MH/s. Just built a second rig with 3 x 5850s and getting around 1GH/s from them.
Both are running Ubuntu 11.4 and using poclbm miner.
6870s @ 980 MHz core, 1050 MHz memory, 100% fan speed, 70-75'C
5850s @ 775, 875, 825 MHz core, 900 MHz mem, 100% fan speed, 90',65',82'C
For some reason the 5850s run hotter and I might need to get additional fans.
Less than .3% rejection on Deepbit so I'm quite happy. I'd like to be able to underclock memory on both cards to see if that reduces heat. AMD 11.6 drivers failed to install though...

I've been interested in bitcoin and when I first discovered this it hit me like a brick wall.
Ive seen that so many people; especially younger that do not have credit cards. And therefore can not use the internet to buy anything.
In fact Credit cards have almost a complete monopoly on internet sales.
I have no doubt in my mind that digital currency will take over online sales. Because of the lack of restrictions. Anyone can accept coins, anyone can use them.
I have a few goals short term.
What we need is to form a bank. Now i Know banks are evil and the hole point it to get rid of them. But hear me out. The biggest thing we need is trust. A place to go to if something goes wrong.
What we need is a place you can go, hand some one cash and get bit coins. And the same vice versa. Transforme bitcoins and get cash.
The main thing stopping me right now from getting coins is a lack of credit card to go to mt gox. Im trying to sell some stuff on auction site but no luck so far. Btw I'm selling an original 60gig ps3 if anyone is interested.
Once we do this is just a matter of getting POS linux box's tablets installed at retailers.

Hi.. I'm Rudementry. Been on the internet for a long time now, always interested in technology type stuff. A friend of mine linked Bitcoins to me a few months ago, and I was excited. I was planning on building a really nice desktop over the summer and since I heard about Bitcoins, choosing AMD over Nvidia was that much easier. I wanted to immediately invest all my money in Bitcoins at the time, (they were about $2 if I remember right) as I figured I might make a few bucks by the time I finally built my desktop. But I never got around to it, all the transfer methods were such a hassle, so I just decided to wait til I could mine my own coin. Little did I know Bitcoin would be around $20 by the time I finally started mining.
I am now planning on expanding with more cards in my desktop (got one 6970 at 430Mhash/s running atm) and building some dedicated mining rigs. I have several old desktops from years past to cannibalize so my only expense will be graphics cards and the occasional PSU.

hey, new here. been mining for a couple weeks and distributed computation for a couple months before i changed to bitcoins. running 5970+5870 right now with two more 5870's on the way.

Hi I'm jonny and I'm a hoopy frood. Much lurking has allowed me to start mining with 3x 6990s on LinuxCoin. It's the bees knees, baby! Running okey doke for about a month. Now if someone could tell me how to make a tiny air conditioner to fit my PC case I'd be super jazzed. INB4 water cooling, mineral oil, faerie blood. Those fusckers are just... HOT!

Just checking out BitCoin for the first time.
It's taking forever to download all the blocks. Can hardly muster enough CPU power to make this post. On a macbook pro.

But, my GUIMiner just sitts there and says "starting..." without actually doing anything. It did this for 16 hours. Yes my Slush login info was entered, yes it works on their website. Hopefully an advanced or intermediate user can tell me why my miner won't mine...
Not sure about Slushs Pool specifically, but in other pools you also need to configure a "worker access" for you miner program, which is usually different from your pool account. You use the pool login to manage your intermediary BTC account and such, while the miner uses the worker access to request work and submit solved hashes.Jump to:
