Hello everyone,

New miner, going on 3 days now.
Have 3 x 5870s doing 1100-1400 Mhash/s day.

I'm a member of a very large/popular tech site where we're not even allowed to mention bitcoins.

What's the best way to cash out that doesn't involve a bank?

Thanks

Hello there, Bitcoin universe.

I've been very interested in Bitcoins for a while, and I mine for fun...not profit. Mostly here to get technical support, but the limit and everything - you know.

Yo, I'm me. Originally I came up with this handle to separate my bitcoin identity from other net identities but it took on a life of its own, and now I'm trying to work out a beer delivery service in major Canadian cities where payment is solely made in bitcoins. Thanks a lot, bitcoins, now I have no free time again, lol.

I've been lurking the scene for a while, now I discovered that I've been newbiefied and I guess this is my ticket outta here.

I'm curious as to how serious you are about this. How much money do you plan to invest in this?

Hey. I'm Wizard-Ninja (Obviously).  Is the post requirement still 50? Kinda a long time to be stuck in the newbie section :\
Been lurking on here for a couple days. This forum has been pretty much indispensable in helping get set up.
Well, that's all for now. Hopefully I'll find enough junk to blabber about to not be stuck here for too long.

I had an idea for this concept a couple of months ago when I was thinking about running my own Bitcoin ATM drive through bank.

Run a computer with some kind of secure linux distro. Tiny core would be a good base to work from since its one of the most lightweight distros.(Only 10 MB or so!)

Run the standard stable bitcoin server with every port blocked except the ports need by the bitcoin server.

Tiny core runs completely in memory so if some one were to try and compromise the machine and it lost power then everything would be permanently erased. No trace. In order for your wallet to be recoverable, enable a script that periodically encrypts your wallet and sends it a remote databank, like google docs, drop box, ect.

Install SSH but use key based authentication with a password needed to unlock your private key. This would allow you access to your machine from any terminal on your local network.

Connect the headless server to your Ethernet, never use a wifi network!

Also connect the pc to a back up power supply and surge protector.

Hope this helps!

PS: I'm thinking about making a linux distro based off of this called SecuCoin.

Hello, my name is EpicFail. I have been mining Bitcoins for 2 months at approximately 1 Ghash/s. I had another forum login but I stopped using that one because in my prior posts I might have given up too much information about where I might be working. For various reasons, I think that it is not prudent for my employer to know that I am involved in Bitcoins. So here I am re-incarnated as a noob - going to be a little bit more careful about what I might say.
