Wassgoodie Bitcoiners!!! M.O. from sunny southern California here. I'd like to start off by saying that Bitcoin is an AMAZING idea! Also, a big shout out to the developers, community and following of Bitcoin. I cant wait to start mining so i can donate.

Id also like to thank CNN for bashing Bitcoin this morning making me EVEN MORE INTERESTED than i was when my eyes left my laptop screen and stayed fixed on the TV set when I heard the words "virtual currency".

Sounds like the future to me folks. I'll be bringing this topic up on my podcast radio show to hear what my listeners how to say about Bitcoin. Or as i call it "2013's Answer to the US Deficit"  I know that's one hell of a teaser but it will get the people talking. And since most of my listeners are the average "open minded" person, like the people here from what I've read so far, we should get some great opinions and questions I'll try to answer to the best of my ability and relay any question i feel uncomfortable answering here. Im not a big fan a misinformation...

So I'm gonna read up more, and talk to some community members so i can pass along the Bitcoin phenomenon.

***So while i was typing this, the Bitcoin story played again on CNN. So, they really didn't really bash Bitcoin, only emphasize the BETAness and say "There is a reason why they made banks".

The info CNN reported could be taken in many different ways IMO. I cant wait to hear what my listeners have to say.

I recently heard about bitcoin, and thought it would be fun mining some myself.
So, I've started it. With 330 Mhash/s its quite fun to see how this works.

Not planning to buy bitcoins at the moment, as i want to learn more about it.

Guess that's enough about me for now.

Nice with the merchant account. I imagine once bitcoin stabilizes business owners won't swap their bitcoins for cash immediately at businesses offering bitcoin payments. But, we are a ways from finding a solid price. We need the dollar to start it's collapse, but first we will get to watch the bond market implode, shortly... All of these will only help the bitcoin to be accepted.

I'm a new user but have been lurking since 2011, when bitcoin was first bubbled up. Bitcoin has given me the self confidence I need to stand up for myself when it comes to the banks. I now mine for victory and I am in the process of setting up a bitcoin merchant account for selling things. I'm fed up of just selling on eBay, so I decided to upgrade to bitcoin!

Hi all, I'm a noob to Bitcoin, apparently my kids aren't though lol. Really taking advantage of all the useful posts to learn more and maybe start a mining rig with my kid! I own a retail clothing, art and jewelry store and we are looking to make the transition to a virtual marketplace and reach more unique and interesting people. Bitcoin is the first thing I've been really excited about in a long time, and as a merchant making payments safer and more reliable is a best practice upgrade if I've ever seen one. I am a jeweler by trade, so the idea of mining tickles me immensely! Thanks again for this incredibly useful forum and if I can ever be of service, please don't hesitate. i'm about month late at introducing myself. Was wondering what kind of forum is this if you can't post or reply to a post... i guess I found it! Anyways, im very excited about bitcoin.

Someone once said that governments are incapable of solving problems--- they only create problems. It takes artists, technicians, engineers and scientist to solve problems. I think the advent of bitcoin and the other cryptos speaks directly to that statement.
