I decided to let everyone know what is happening with this project. I entered the cryptocurrency market some years back and invested in some coins that I felt had future. Thereafter, I entered the Proof of Stake (POS) coins, but I lost a lot of money to most of those projects so I got fed and wanted to take over a project called TDC at the time because I felt a cryptocurrency project could survive without ending up being a scam. Before, I had wanted to start my own mid-range betting Platform and thought adding a cryptocurrency to it would be quite cool as I have seen similar projects. I am not a coin developer so I started looking for people who I could involve in the project. And I was able to convince three more people to join me to develop this idea; they all promised to give all their support and most importantly their financial support which was very important for the survival of the project.
As the team leader, I decided to contact a coin developer in March 2019 and told him what we wanted; everything was set for the development of the project. I contacted the other team members for their own financial contribution towards the project but I was told that I should not worry that I will get the support as soon as they see the project develop to some extent. So I used my personal funds to pay the developers for the development of the coin and the websites. I did not the expected result so I had to contact another developer who worked on the already developed coin.
When the wallet was ready, I thought I could raise funds through pre-sale but nobody was buying Cowry; there were many scam projects so people were afraid to invest in another “scam” coin. So, I contacted my other team members again that it was time they supported with funds to develop the project because nobody was buying Cowry. That was when one person, stopped responding to my calls or messages, I was left with two, but they did not offer any financial support. The pre-sale was suspended because it was not successful. But because I believed in this project, I decided to continue with it. I contacted both Graviex and Crex24 for listing the coin, Graviex replied within two days, but Graviex was the first option but it took them a while to respond. People were already saying some negative things about the project on this discord, that they were indeed correct about this project that it was a scam all along. Graviex’s listing was 0.3 BTC at the time, but I did not have all the funds but there was someone who liked the project and believed it could survive and loaned the project 0.1 BTC. The Graviex listing was paid, my hope then was that if everything succeeded the project would be able to pay back the loan in no time. But there were other issues, nobody was still buying Cowry. So I felt if the project had a working product, people might be interested in the project. So I set out to get the betting Platform ahead of time.
Now, the project is listed on an exchange and has a working product. I paid for listing on some masternode monitoring services. But it still needed funds for marketing, listing on masternode hosting/sharing Platforms and listing on www.masternodes.online and www.crex24.com. I contacted the remaining team members for their financial support but got nothing. I thought at the time that I could do everything without the support of these people but at the same time thought that it would be bad publicity for the project if I was the only person left on the project even if I was the only person financially supporting it. I observed that only Nastygal was keen on the project and was offering some form of support and I felt she could remain with the project.
I was really disturbed as the blockchain had many issues between March and May 2019, at a time the project’s website, blockchain and explorer went offline. I was on my way to Africa to do some marketing for the project when all these issues were happening and but I was able to resolve the ASAP and we have not had major issues with the wallet and explorer since May 2019.
Some people would think that I am happy with the slow pace of things on this project, but I am not. I have tried to support the project to this level. I do not have funds coming from cryptocurrency anymore as I have sold most of my coins just to support this project. The project’s problems have been compounded with the rise in the price of Bitcoin, listing on www.masternodes.online which would have cost us less than $1,000 in April 2019 is now $2,500, while listing on www.crex24.com would have cost less than $2,500 in April 2019 is now around $6,000. Even when www.crex24.com offered us a discount to pay 0.3 BTC (about $3,500 at the time) which expired on 31st August 2019, the project could not take advantage of it because there was no money.
The only issue facing the project is the lack of funds to promote it. I have been contacted by many people who told me we should do one thing or another. I will be happy to do these things but I am financially constrained. And I would not beg people for money. I understand that we do not have a strong community. Building a community also requires funds; nobody wants to do anything for free in this crypto space. Most of the people who were with us earlier left the project immediately the airdrops and bounties ended because they were not really interested in the development of this project.
The project currently has a reserve of about 55,000 coins, which at the current market price is less than 0.15 BTC. The person who loaned us 0.1 BTC is expecting to be paid back his Bitcoin paid back by the 31st December 2019, and I believe the person has been patient enough. So where do we go from here? Many people do not know that the project will improve more than what it is now and I would need the support and patience of everyone. I cannot do all the things people suggest to us immediately.
The project needs funds. And anybody that invests in this project should not look at the short term. I will continue to be here. I did not leave the project when things were very difficult and I am not going to leave now because I know that it is one of the most undervalued cryptocurrencies out there. I have been sustaining the betting Platform with $200 monthly and this means it has been running at a loss since April 2019 because we do not have enough people using it. But to make people use the platform, we need to do marketing and promotions and these would require funds too.
To improve on the project, we would like to offer 30,000 coins @ 0.000035 = 1,05 BTC. Please anyone interested in this offer should know that they are helping to develop the project and have the long term in mind. I know some people would say that why would some want to pay 1,05 BTC for COW 30,000 when they can get it cheaper on the exchange. But I have got this to say, nobody is happy with the current state of things and anybody who buys these coins knows that he/she is only supporting a project they believe in and when we start getting positive results we will benefit from it together.
The funds generated will be for the following:
1. Listing on another exchange
2. Improve the wallet (wallet update)
3. Create another tip bot
4. Marketing the Coin
5. Building the community.
6. Re-pay the 0.1 BTC loan for listing on Graviex.
In conclusion, I felt it necessary to speak out rather keep silent. If we don’t do anything, Cowry won’t be able to compete with similar projects. However, Cowry has got potentials than many projects out there.
