All investments will have a very large risk, if you get a very good project, maybe you will feel the benefits that you expect, but if you get or invest in a project that is not good or can be called not achieving the sales target as expected, maybe what you say in that category.

I think everything depends on the ICO. Whether the project reaches its big target or not, if they achieve that, I believe that the coin price will be good if it has been registered on the exchange. they expect not to be fulfilled.

But who decides the starting price of a token when appear in exchange? How COIN A in ICO is 10 cents on exchange is 20 cents and COIN B 20 cents in ICO on exchange 1 cent at starting price?

Investing in a project is always a risk. however, the currency can have a very large increase and then the exchanges will not sell it cheaper. It's your choice anyway. I think if you found an excellent project and are confident in it, you need to invest quickly in it. otherwise it may be too late.

I think everyone has their own plans, ICO is used to buy tokens at low prices, and when the market list hopes the price will be higher, many people already feel double profits and also many people who fail to buy products from ICO and experience great losses

If the project has good ideas, a strong team, and a finished product - it will have a good future. Recently, many projects-Scam to deceive investors. Bounty participants greatly reduce the price of the coin when they sell it. Sorry for my English.

Why do people refer to it as "investing". It's pure speculation, and it probably offers a worse chance of making a profit than gambling on scratch cards.

I was wonder why so many people invest in ICO when they don't know the actual token price, almost every ICO token is with lower price when go to exchange after ICO ends. If you believe in the success of ICO, why don't wait and buy directly from exchange at lower price?
I think you should say if you believe in the success of project.
And if you believe in the success of project, why dont you invest while they give the bonus for early investment? If this is a successful project, their price will grow up after listing on exchanges.
If you loss your money, you choose a wrong project to invest.

Not every ICO will go lower price after listed on market. Have you heard about ODEM? Their ICO price is 0.05 Euro and their alltime-high is $0.32.

Because people don't understand in what they investing in.
Most people are so focused on promises of huge returns that they turn off thinking clearly.

That is sad, its human nature tho :/

I have seen this question before but are you aware that there bonus tokens when you buy during the ICO phase? There's also some discount if you'll buy during the pre-sale. You get more tokens during the ICO period so there are investors that wants it that way.

At the beginning of this year & end of last year there was a time that everyone loves investing in ICO as it was more beneficial & secured investment method. Still most of them believes that ICOs are secured investments. Due to the market condition many ICOs are failed to get the momentum but even in red market some ICOs has given more than 10x for their investors. If the market continues to be in red for few months better to bag some good ICO coins to get maximum profit in a bull run. Mostly we can expect some green signal in near future in the market & better to be ready with major ICOs like WAN. But keep your on updated regarding market situation to grab these coins at a lower price.

If the project has awesome hype then you should buy in ICO cuz surely on exchange will be a higher price if there is a big demand for that token . If you do not feel that a project is a good idea then do not put your money in that

I wrote a thread about investing in icos here, but part of what I wrote is that one has to be very careful when selecting an ICO. a lot of ICOs are stupid to invest in, partly because of how they allow "private investors" to purchase at x% discount than everyone else. so if the ICO ends at $1, maybe 10% of the supply was bought at $0.1, and they can happily dump it for $0.5!

many people fall for the false promises of ICOs, and well, stupid people will part with their money sooner or later.
but as you said, it's not always the case - so, if people believe they've found a good ICO, then they buy.
the issue is just that many peopel don't know what's a good ICO!

Investing in ICO projects is not for everyone, not everyone wants to invest in something that's not confirmed, but if you know what you're doing, it's going to make a pretty good profit. People are investing in ICO because they expect to get rich on it like on every crypto, it's going to be a cheaper token on the exchange, so it's not always certain. They buy poor quality tokens, at an inappropriate time, and then sell them with loss. I have an ICO project experience, but i did not buy in the pre-sale phase. I did not have the money for more investment. After a while the coin got into the exchange. I waited a moment and sold with 100% profits, the coins were obtained from their bounty program.

Because some think this is their only chance to get that token at its "cheapest price" possible and some of them are actually right. Some ICO tokens tends to launch up after their tokens are officially released and they never go below to the offered price during the pre-sale which makes this ICO believers in the state of a instant gain. Also another case is almost all cryptocurrencies on the date of launching tends to pump, some people actually just participate ICO sales in anticipation of a pump and dump.

almost every ICO token is with lower price when go to exchange after ICO ends.

That is not true. Some ICO tokens get to gain above 100% growth when they hit the market if they have a pretty strong base - which means if their project is attractive and their ICO has been actually successful but not faked, then they are likely to get a rise when they are listed in exchanges. So people buy the tokens in ICO phase to get profits when the token is listed in the markets and gets to a higher price than they bought them in.
