Yes... this is something that I found out during 2018. It is not easy to track all of these coins and another issue is with securely storing all these coins/tokens. If they are ERC-20 tokens, then you can store them in MEW addresses. But in case of altcoins (such as Bitsend and GBYTE), the only viable option is to store them in exchange wallets (i.e if you don't want to install the desktop wallets for all of these coins).
And sometimes the altcoins don't even have lite wallets. When I was trying to invest in Cardano (ADA) in 2017, the only option available was to install the Daedalus wallet. I tried to install it, but it was consuming a lot of bandwidth and hard disk space and therefore I uninstalled it. Lite-wallets for Cardano are available now (such as Yoroi and AdaLite), but I have sold all my ADA by now.
