Here's a few tips that I'd recommend you adhere to in 2018.

1. Get a segwit address for bitcoin, Electrum now supports Bc1 segwit addresses when creating a new wallet
2. Look into the development timelines of high potential altcoins such as Ripple, Neo, and Ethereum
3. Spread your investment over multiple coins, with the majority in BTC, the rest spread over some medium and high risk altcoins.

Right now because of high fee and long confirmation time bitcoin cant be used as currency so it is more like profitable investment opportunity (like commodity).

Also supply of bitcoin is limited and its demand is increasing everyday so regardless of different types of ban and limitation bitcoin price can surge every year.

However you should not invest all you have , only invest what you can afford to loss.

this is some of the tips
1)dont put all your modal one type of crypto

e.g. u have $1000 dont all in on btc only instead u can divided it by part and invest on different coin such as $300 on btc $300 on eth and $400 for ltc

2)choose coin that have good potential
what i mean is u need to choose coin that have good advertisment, coin that can be use and make sure to study the roadmap and wallpaper first

cryptocurrency is a currency. in fact they are designed to be a currency. for example bitcoin is a currency and all the effort that goes into it is in order to make it a currency. the fact that sometimes these efforts are not capable of catching up with the changes or attacks against bitcoin does not mean bitcoin is not a currency.

regarding altcoins, they are mainly short term speculation assets and on very rare projects they do try to be a currency. none has succeeded much.

none of these had anything to do with your title though, i don't know why you started your topic with it.

Calling bitcoin a protocol that can help the distribution of currencies may sound more worthy than to call it a currency. This protocol has risen in price so expensive that people will be more difficult to get it along with the increasing price. My advice for 2018 is very simple, buy now because you will not see the current price in the next few months.

Cyrptocurrency is neither a commodity nor a currency. The lack of clarity about its origin is another big issue related to cyrptocurrency like bitcoin. In earlier days, highly priced metals like gold, silver, etc. were used as currencies. They also claim that it is not controlled by any government.

HuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuh?

The best way is to have foresight through intense research on the technology and the people behind it. You need to be familiar with the technology behind the crypto currency. Even if you dont come from a computer science background, try to understand enough to know the problem the technology is facing and how the people behind it are fixing it. Research on who they are and their backers and miners. If they're originally based somewhere the government hinders the development of crypto's then you probably dont want to invest in them. There's gonna be lots of cryptos coming out this year, as it has never been easier to start one. You probably want to invest on the currently top crypto currencies, but if you're going to put your cash somewhere else, then make sure you understand how their technology is better.

Don't understand the relation between the topic's name and the topic starter's first message. But as 2018 is claimed to be the year of altcoins I'd recommend to pay attention to altcoins from top-10 currencies on cryptomarketcap. That's my investment tip.
It seems to me that you are not right. Altcoins are good, but the price for them will bottom until the bitcoin will increase price. So I think it is cheaper now to buy bitcoin. He was the first to show growth and growth rate will be higher than the altcoins.

First, you need to have a clear understanding of crypto currencies, how it works and how are you going to handle it, It is best way because you should know what you are going into before investing your hard-earned money to anything. Another wise thing to do is to spread your investments, don't just put your everything in one basket.

Here are some tips:
1) Do not invest only in Bitcoins, diversify in alt coins as well.
2) Do not panic when prices fall by 30% or so in a day.

Infact not only you but many people who are still like newbie in this field are thinking in this way , they don't want understand the bitcoin and another altcoins in positive way but they are seeing that what negative things are related with this and also what wrong may happen in the future .
Here all the newbie in this field should see toward the matter that are real and practically are true , you should see that many big countries like Japan accepted bitcoin more easily with few rules and regulations to use the bitcoin . And also many big big companies are accepting bitcoin payment , so why we Should see towards the negative things , we should remain positive always .

You are just a beginner in the cryptocurrency market, and I think you should first learn the block chain knowledge.
Otherwise you don't understand why virtual things are worth more than gold. Huh Huh Huh

Currently the circulation of digital currency has started.
The man meaning of the investment is profit making and investing in the digital currency will profit because it does not stabilize its value.

And what does it mean from what you said. Crypto-currencies are not supported and controlled now, but they bring additional income, which means that you can invest in them and wait for your profit. Gold and other securities, too, should not be ignored, they are stable for a long time.

It's fine to buy on an exchange like Coinbase, but then move your coins into an online wallet or mobile wallet. It is all free as well as easy.
