Does anyone have any advice on what to do with our situation? We have BTC in Bread but it keeps resyncing, constantly and never actually completely/ crashing before the sync completes.

Have updated the app, deleted it, been trying to resync for one week. Have contacted support, keep telling us to reinstall, delete, resync and the same issue is constantly happening.

Have tried to access the BTC through Electrum too but that doesn't work. Set it up on other devices to try that.

Nothings working and our BTC is stuck in Bread. Any ideas or other ways anyone can suggest? Has anyone had similar issues?

Your coins aren't in bread, they are in the blockchain.

Go here https://iancoleman.io/bip39/ follow the offline usage instructions. Run it on an air gapped PC and get your PK. Import them into some other wallet.

Bread wallet uses a different derivation path than other wallets that use BIP44. See here for info you need to use the BIP39 decoder to get your private keys. https://github.com/voisine/breadwallet-ios/issues/131  You know you have the right derivation path when the public addresses the tool determines are the same as your bread wallet is showing.

Would there have to be a bread token purchase in order to use the wallet?
Were the coins of those who purchased in ico locked?

hi , is coin base going to suggest to people to use your wallet ??

Why would they do this? Coinbase is a wallet service and would suggest their own wallet app.

why doesn't my account balance with breadwallet fluctuate with the current btw market prices?

Your BTC balance doesn't change but your Fiat balance should.

So if i have say 1 btc today at $665.00 and tomorrow the price of btc goes up to $1000.00, do I stay at $665 or do I profit?

You neither lose or win, you still have 1 BTC. In what regards USD, you would profit when selling. You go where the market goes, obviously Cheesy

Did not know that there was an Android version meanwhile. Since the beta testing is limited and I have limited access to Android devices, I'll not apply so I won't occupy a space who should go to people who "daily drive" Androids, but I'm pretty curious how does breadwallet operate on Android. I assume that it won't work on a rooted phone and I question if there are methods in place to circumvent rooted phones reporting as non-rooted.

No problem with Android Breadwallet here. You are using Marshmallow OS right?

Yes, I don't think it would install otherwise.

Im with stucked balance in the app. I try to restore and wipe it and rescan blockchain and still keep getting the unverified transaction again and again!!!

Sorry for the late reply, I didn't get an email alert for this thread for some reason. Make sure you have the latest version, then contact [email protected] if you're still having an issue.

Older versions tend to miscalculate fees. Is your app updated?

So I got my hands on the new iPhone 6 Plus and have had it for a month now(best phone 4rm my experience by the way). I was excited of hearing of this new BTCitcoin wallet along with other features.  I used the wallet five times - the 1st time I was able to add money to my Bread wallet via my Coinbase account and then was able to send money to a friend for testing purposes.  I was even able to send money to my Bread Wallet again via Coinbase but since, been experiencing sending issues.
4instance! I try to send BTC back into my Coinbase acc. via Bread Wallet and not 0nce but twice! it came right back to my Bread Wallet.  It shows BTC being sent and it displays the process of confirmations being observed then after awhile it display's '0' confirmations and the money 0r BTC ends up being right back into the Bread Wallet.  I even tried sending to a trading platform where I plan to do most of my trades - https://www.bitfinex.com/ Anyone else going through this with the new "Apple" Bitcoin Bread Wallet and who should I contact, Apple, Bitcoin Foundation, etc...?
I need my money sent out of my Bread Wallet Asap so hopefully someone out there has the solution, Peace!

Is there a way to export private keys from bread wallet. My friend has bread wallet on his iPhone and he's got a couple transactions that have been stuck for 4 days now. They've been deducted from his balance but they never turned up on the blockchain. So he can't spend those coins and he's doesn't want to try sending the rest to another client since they'll probably just get stuck too. So is there a way to get the private keys out of there?

He has his 12-word master seed. I tried using this app from github but it doesn't seem to be working:

https://dcpos.github.io/bip39/

No way to extract private keys through the app. Add the seed on Multibit HD and extract the keys.

This is the best cold storage app available for IOS. Use this one on mine mobile phone. Hope they keep improving this nice wallet.

You need to also check out the BitLox hardware wallet. It communicates with either your iPhone or Android using BLE and there are wallet apps for both phones. This is the first bitcoin hardware wallet to work with iPhone.

Interesting, although the price is a bit steep. I guess that's what you get when there's no competition. If I'm not mistaken, Ledger was working on something that was iOS compatible too... Let's see what they come up with.

EDIT: seems like CoolWallet is around too... But they have no devices avaliable. They're cheaper tho... but had a rough start and no reviews... They'll have more stock in March, I'll be around to check them out.

Despite all this, I highly doubt any of these things will work with breadwallet one day and I highly doubt there will be breadwallet hardware Tongue breadwallet hardware is the phone itself, I guess...

Hi,

We are trying to build the App for eMark Client.

The App connects to the other Clients and Synchronize to ~10.000 Blocks before "last block".
Then it comes "invites" and the App replies with:

Code:
sendGetblocksMessageWithLocators

The Client has to response with:
https://github.com/emarkproject/eMark/blob/master/src/main.cpp#L2796

We have modify the funktion like this:
Code:
void static ProcessGetData(CNode* pfrom)
{
    std::deque::iterator it = pfrom->vRecvGetData.begin();

    vector vNotFound;

    LOCK(cs_main);

    while (it != pfrom->vRecvGetData.end()) {
        // Don't bother if send buffer is too full to respond anyway
        if (pfrom->nSendSize >= SendBufferSize())
            break;

        const CInv &inv = *it;
        {
            boost::this_thread::interruption_point();
            it++;

            if (inv.type == MSG_BLOCK || inv.type == MSG_FILTERED_BLOCK)
            {
                // Send block from disk
                map::iterator mi = mapBlockIndex.find(inv.hash);
                if (mi != mapBlockIndex.end())
                {
                    CBlock block;
if (!block.ReadFromDisk((*mi).second)) {
assert(!"cannot load block from disk");
}

if (inv.type == MSG_BLOCK) {
pfrom->PushMessage("block", block);

}
else {
CBlockIndex *pindex = NULL;
pindex = (*mi).second;
pindex = pindex->pnext;

map::iterator mi = mapBlockIndex.find(block.hashMerkleRoot);
pindex = (*mi).second;

pindex = pindex->pnext;

pfrom->PushMessage("merkleblock", pindex->GetBlockHeader());
cout << "Merkleblock sended\n";

//typedef std::pair PairType;

//foreach found Transactions
//BOOST_FOREACH(PairType& pair, merkleBlock.vMatchedTxn)

//send TRANSACTION
//pfrom->PushMessage(NetMsgType::TX, block.vtx[pair.first]);
}

                    // Trigger them to send a getblocks request for the next batch of inventory
                    if (inv.hash == pfrom->hashContinue)
                    {
                        // Bypass PushInventory, this must send even if redundant,
                        // and we want it right after the last block so they don't
                        // wait for other stuff first.
                        vector vInv;
                        vInv.push_back(CInv(MSG_BLOCK, hashBestChain));
                        pfrom->PushMessage("inv", vInv);
                        pfrom->hashContinue = 0;
                    }
                }
            }
            else if (inv.IsKnownType())
            {
                // Send stream from relay memory
                bool pushed = false;
                {
                    LOCK(cs_mapRelay);
                    map::iterator mi = mapRelay.find(inv);
                    if (mi != mapRelay.end()) {
                        pfrom->PushMessage(inv.GetCommand(), (*mi).second);
                        pushed = true;
                    }
                }
                if (!pushed && inv.type == MSG_TX) {
                    CTransaction tx;
                    if (mempool.lookup(inv.hash, tx)) {
                        CDataStream ss(SER_NETWORK, PROTOCOL_VERSION);
                        ss.reserve(1000);
                        ss << tx;
                        pfrom->PushMessage("tx", ss);
                        pushed = true;
                    }
                }
                if (!pushed) {
                    vNotFound.push_back(inv);
                }
            }

            // Track requests for our stuff.
            g_signals.Inventory(inv.hash);

            if (inv.type == MSG_BLOCK || inv.type == MSG_FILTERED_BLOCK)
                break;
        }
    }

    pfrom->vRecvGetData.erase(pfrom->vRecvGetData.begin(), it);

    if (!vNotFound.empty()) {
        // Let the peer know that we didn't find what it asked for, so it doesn't
        // have to wait around forever. Currently only SPV clients actually care
        // about this message: it's needed when they are recursively walking the
        // dependencies of relevant unconfirmed transactions. SPV clients want to
        // do that because they want to know about (and store and rebroadcast and
        // risk analyze) the dependencies of transactions relevant to them, without
        // having to download the entire memory pool.
        pfrom->PushMessage("notfound", vNotFound);
    }
}

see at line:
Code:
pfrom->PushMessage("merkleblock", pindex->GetBlockHeader());

But this doesn't work, because its not the merkleblock. Its only the header of the merkleblock.

Can you help us, what to do?
At this moment, we only need to know, how to read the complete merkleblock like this:

Code:
pfrom->PushMessage("merkleblock", pindex->GetMerkleBlock());

Thank you.

(sry for my bad englisch)

This is the best cold storage app available for IOS. Use this one on mine mobile phone. Hope they keep improving this nice wallet.

Do you have an iDevice specifically offline for cold storage?

You can also generate a wallet, write down the recovery phrase and initial receive address, and then choose "start/recover another wallet" to remove it from the device.

While having your device in flight mode Smiley

I personally wouldn't do that unless I restored my iDevice, configured it as a new device, created the wallet, restored it again and kept using it, and I think that's just too much of a hassle to create a seed. There are quicker and equally safe (or even safer) ways to do it. And yes, I'm that paranoid Wink

To ask my question in another way: How to recover Bread funds if whatever happens to you

If the developer ceases to support the app you'll still have it on your device, working. To recover the coins, import your passphrase in MultiBit HD

or Apple for whatever reason pulls your wallet from the App store? You get the idea.

If Apple pulls the app, the same thing happens: you will still have it on your device until you uninstall it. Either way you'll have plenty of time to recover your coins in whatever situation. Don't forget to keep your seed stored somewhere.

Just curious, does bread run through multibit?  Or is multibit just capable of recovering any type of wallet with the correct seed?  I never ran multibit before, but if this is the case I might have to download it just in case.

What do you mean with run through? Both are apps on their own Smiley Multibit is capable of recovering breadwallet seeds. For reference, here's a wallet compatibility matrix.

Hey Aaron, thanks for the great app! (Though I don't use it, I'm not on iOS, which is my problem)

Question: what's a compatible, trusted implementation of the same 12-word seed wallet which works on the desktop/web as well?

The now defunct Hive Wallet (for the web) was one, which was a fork of Andreas Schildbach's Android wallet: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.13137786

We recommend strongly against ever typing your recovery phrase into other devices or wallet software, as they are not built to the same security standards. If however you are a security expert and have hardened your system against malware, or are just playing around with trivial amounts, then one other implementation i've referenced is https://dcpos.github.io/bip39/

Thanks for https://dcpos.github.io/bip39/

I'm all about standardization, not fragmentation. So, all in all, isn't Bread essentially the same as Hive > Coin.Space (over here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/coinspace-digital-currency-wallet-1004057) and/or Andreas Schildbach's Android wallet?

I guess, that's the best for all of is. Isn't it?

To ask my question in another way: How to recover Bread funds if whatever happens to you, or Apple for whatever reason pulls your wallet from the App store? You get the idea.

Thanks for your work!

I'm not sure if the question has been asked here or on the other thread, but is there any way/any plan to allow the ability to sign/verify addresses using bread? I feel like I might have asked this question before somewhere, but I can seem to find where I asked, so forgive me if I have asked this question before or some one else already has.

We don't support it currently, but I would consider accepting a pull request that enabled it through an x-callback-url mechanism, so long as only allowed signing with already spent-from wallet addresses. We wouldn't want users exposing pubkeys for addresses that still have funds on them. I'm curious what your specific use case is. My perception is that this feature isn't used much anymore.

No real use for me right at this moment, just more of a curiosity/potential future use if a situation comes where I needed too verify something and I was away from my computer, so I could on my phone using bread.

Yes this is the correct way to do it. It's annoying but it prevents someone you loan you phone to from being able to erase your wallet. An unauthoized person must be in possession of the device for 24hrs (or be able to do a factory reset by knowing the device passcode)

How can i erase Breadwallet + all its data ?
i have a test version on my iPhone 6, never save the passphrase (seeds)
i know right  Roll Eyes
i want to erase it and start with a new fresh wallet (but the old password always comes up)
Huh
tx

On the settings menu, delete the seed and start fresh.

- start/recover another wallet ?
i can not, do not have the old seeds or password
??

I erased the whole phone already
installed new wallet, set up new wallet, all worked
but the sec i do a sync with iTunes the old wallet comes back and i am stuck again
 Huh

Exactly, that's the option. No need to restore your phone just for this Cheesy You get the old wallet back because that's the information synced with iTunes. When you restored, did you set it up as new phone or did you restore from an iTunes/iCloud backup?

I can not !
there it is asking me for "Recovery Phrase to wipe it and start/recover another."
and i do not have that

Edit:
sorry this is such a pain ... , i just wanted to install a test wallet,(did not save anything) and planned to install a proper wallet after
but now i can not get rid of that test
 Undecided

You can enter a bad pin. Keep doing it. The delay will keep increasing. It will take about 24 hours to get to the point... but once you put it in wrong like 5 or 6 times, the seed/wallet is wipped and you can start fresh. I had to do this myself once because I also didn't write down my first seed cause I was just planning to "play" with it.

If you lost both your recovery phrase and your passcode, then after you enter 8 different incorrect passcodes, and about 24hrs of lockout, the wallet will reset and you can start a new one.

I haven't run into an issue where iTunes syncing overwrites app keychain data with older data. If you're still encountering this problem, please open github issue (linked on breadwallet.com) so we can get more information about your phone and settings.

 Huh

tx guys !

I can not !
there it is asking me for "Recovery Phrase to wipe it and start/recover another."
and i do not have that

Edit:
sorry this is such a pain ... , i just wanted to install a test wallet,(did not save anything) and planned to install a proper wallet after
but now i can not get rid of that test
 Undecided

I'm not quite sure I'm following your issue.

Does the wallet reappear after a simple sync with iTunes? If yes, I find that really odd, app info may be be nicely encrypted, but this is still another way to get access to a seed, I think (but that's another issue)

If disabling automatic sync on iTunes is an issue for you, try to delete everything breadwallet related on iTunes and see if it does the trick.

Exactly, that's the option. No need to restore your phone just for this Cheesy You get the old wallet back because that's the information synced with iTunes. When you restored, did you set it up as new phone or did you restore from an iTunes/iCloud backup?

Does anybody use breadwallet and also mine at a pool like Eligius? When I mine there and have the payouts sent to my Bitcoin Core qt wallet, the earnings are noted as "Mined" and are not confirmed until a few more blocks have been mined. How does breadwallet handle those types of transactions?

Not sure the exact way on how that's processed, but you'd definitely get the funds after enough confirmations and you'd be able to spend them. You should probably post on the official thread to get visibility from the dev...

Downloaded Bread Wallet, and I like it because if my phone gets lost and the App gets removed from the App store, at least I can use the web version of Hive to get into my Bitcoins.  ...

Not anymore.  Hive is dead.  At least the Hive wallet can be recovered within Bread Wallet using the 12 word key.  Thank goodness for BIP32/BIP39.  After recovery as a Bread Wallet, all Bitcoins and transactions were available.  Impressed that Bread Wallet was able to do this.  I don't think I'll ever consider a bitcoin wallet that is not compatible with BIP32/BIP39.

Mike

Hive is no more, but MultiBit HD can recover breadwallet seeds. Not sure if the opposite occurs, but it's probable that it does (at least partically it does, according to this)

What I don't like is the bits.  In terms of practical application from Exchange trading to purchasing online, nobody uses Bits.
In the beginning it was a little bit confusing to me also but after some wallet usage i get used of it and now it is not confusing to me anymore.

Is there any way to get the private key on breadwallet and import it into Bitcoin-qt

No. It's not a goal of the dev to have a mobile client that can do such.

If you really need the private key you have to import your breadwallet seed on MultiBit HD and then dump the key. Keep in mind that after importing the seed elsewhere you should consider it compromised and create a new one on breadwallet. Don't forget to send your funds elsewhere before creating a new seed.

Also, there's an official topic for breadwallet, you'd probably want to go there if you want an answer from the dev, he's probably paying attention to that thread mostly Smiley

Oh, right, it's scaled up Smiley Anyways, I bet its in the works iPhone 6 support... If I'm not mistaken, Apple has many tools that make it easy to scale up apps.

100% agreed. Just searched to see if there was some way to switch from bits to BTC units. Why not give users a choice? An app that pushes its own beliefs is fine, as long as it only makes it the default but still provides choice to those who disagree. I otherwise love the app, but just don't feel comfortable using it if there is no option to have the value in BTC.

In this particular instance it's better to have a single standard. It's important for the community to move together to bits. People who don't switch hold back adoption. That combined with the fact that adding more configurable options makes the app more confusing is why we haven't done it. The reason BTC is more comfortable is because most others are using it still, so to break that momentum means doing something that's initially less comfortable. People need encouragement, so that's what we're providing by making an app that people love, but requires switching to bits. It's a short term inconvenience for a greater long term benefit.

I totally agree with this decision. It is stupid 'talking' and trading in BTC! Bits is so much more logic and easier to understand; and future-proof.

I totally love this app, i am a huge fan.

Things i would like to see implemented in the app:

-iPhone6 and 6+ support
-Multi-sig addresses support

Thanks for the awesome work voisine.

Although I am not a big fan of Bits, and took quite a bit to get used to them, I understand why they're important in adoption. Much more comfortable saying something like 1000 Bits than something like 0.001 BTC.

iPhone 6 not supported? How come, does the app appear smaller or something? I'm still on a 5, so not sure. As for multisig, that falls in what voisine has been saying: he wants to keep the app simple. I don't see that being implemented.

To finish my post, I think it would be better to focus our discussions on the main topic. There's no need to have two topics with different discussions about the same thing Smiley

Yes, in iphone6 and 6+ the app is zoomed/stretched.

But voisine would implement multi-sig in a way (revolutionary way) that becomes easier and friendly to most users. This app is like that, revolutionary.
Multi-sig is the safest way to store bitcoins.

Oh well... Who knows? We have a very skilled dev Smiley

I have it running on my iPhone 6 Plus. You can tell the resolution is sized for a smaller screen and is scaled up (makes it a lot easier to read imho). I am not a fan of Bits either, but it will be the best hope for widespread adoption.

The only thing that bothers me about breadwallet, is that I can't select to see the value in BTC, rather than bits.
Unless I've missed the option somewhere?
It actually bothers me so much that I keep going back to my old blockchain app instead, and that's the only reason.

We know this is annoying for long time bitcoiners, no body likes change, but we think it's important for the community to switch together to the new standard. Our goal is to increase bitcoin adoption among the 99.99% of people who haven't adopted it yet, and they're much more comfortable with two decimal place denominations. If the existing bitcoiners don't switch, they'll confuse newcomers and hurt adoption. Bits will also work forever even after bitcoin replaces every currency on the planet.

I get your point, I really do.
But wouldn't setting the default to bits, and giving users a choice to change that, accomplish the same thing?
Newbie users would see no reason to change the default settings, and more experienced users can choose what they want, be it bits, btc, mbtc or satoshi...

I realize it probably doesn't hold much weight when I say that, for me atleast, this is a dealbreaker. But that is the case, and I never use my breadwallet anymore, solely because of this.

I just wanted to point out that lowering fees to 1,000 satoshi / KB can cause problems to users.

Thanks much, we appreciate it!

The current version more than doubles those fees, and the next update will be pulling fee rates from an api (with a range restriction in the event the api is compromised)

Hi Aaron,

Great work on Breadwallet !
We like it so much we have put it as our 'recommended for iOS' wallet:
https://beta.multibit.org/download.html

(that will be the new MultiBit website when it goes live).

I just wanted to point out that lowering fees to 1,000 satoshi / KB can cause problems to users.
When the network is busy (Like on Friday nights now) you can get bumped for several blocks as you are the least beautiful tx for the miners to pick up.

For MultiBit HD we give users the range to select from 1,000 to 10,000 satoshi / KB with a default of 3000.
That seems to get into the next block pretty reliably (at the moment).

I am replacing the Bitcoin Core node I am hosting on my PC with a Bitnodes Hardware node (https://getaddr.bitnodes.io/hardware/) and I no longer want to run the core on my PC. Is breadwallet a viable option as my "only wallet"? Is it secure enough and robust enough? I am very impressed with it. I have been an iOS guy for a few years and don't plan to switch any time soon. Sorry for necro  Cool

I'll leave it up to others to comment, and just say that breadwallet is the most popular wallet in the app store after coinbase and blockchain.info, and we've had zero reports of lost funds except when someone doesn't write down their recovery phrase *and* manages to forget their passcode. (so far only with trivial amounts) iPhone is also the most secure of the popular computing platforms with it's locked down, signed code only, app sandboxed, keychain service, full filesystem hardware encryption be default architecture, which is why we chose it as the platform to start with.

Thank you. I know I can't "sign messages" with breadwallet and I could with the Core. But I think I will be ok. I have my passphrase written down and stored inside my fireproof safe at home and I have a copy stored inside my safe deposit box at my bank (with my other important papers). This is a really sweet app. Thank you!

It just uses blockchain.info/ticker for now, but will use multiple exchange rate api's in future to protect against any one getting hacked or going down.
Painfully ontopic at the moment Wink

The current version is now using bitpay.com/rates which includes over a hundred different currencies. (apparently some of the latin american currencies even use the street "blue dollar" rate over the official rate)

Hey Aaron, cool to see your feedback here!

This one is done, will be in the next update. Bitcoin isn't really designed for micro-transactions though, so don't go and create a business model that relies on that long term.
How do you mean? In my experience, small transactions (e.g. sending only a few cents) with 0.00001 or even 0.000001 fees tend to get through just fine..? Even if they take a bit longer to confirm, but that doesn't matter in most cases.
Or did you mean, isn't designed for massive volumes of transactions? There are plenty ideas being considered and/or developed to deal with the blockchain size, I'm it will be resolved one way or another.
Anyway, it's great that lower fees will be available soon.

It just uses blockchain.info/ticker for now, but will use multiple exchange rate api's in future to protect against any one getting hacked or going down.

It will display "not connected" if the bitcoin network isn't reachable, and iOS will display a login dialog if it detects a wi-fi web login. Running some bitcoin nodes on port 80 is a cool idea. If you know of a DNS seed that lists port 80 bitcoin nodes, I would consider including it.
Hmm, yeah, that might be a cool idea as well. But I actually meant something different: rather than (or in addition to) communicating with actual nodes (i.e. sending actual bitcoin traffic), simply call some of the many available online APIs to push a tx to the network, requiring nothing but a simple HTTP call with the transaction (in hex) as a GET or POST parameter.

For example, call http://btc.blockr.io/api/v1/tx/push with POST parameter: hex=0100020304etc (that's the tx data in hex) and they will push the tx onto the network.
Many other online services like easybit.com, helloblock.io, chain.com, blockchain.info, blockcyhper.com, etc offer similar functionality.

Sorry for not responding sooner. I need to check the forums more often.

1. Allow entering amount when receiving BTC

This one is on the todo list, should be in the next update.

2. Lower the fee

This one is done, will be in the next update. Bitcoin isn't really designed for micro-transactions though, so don't go and create a business model that relies on that long term.

3. Better estimate for fiat/btc rates

It just uses blockchain.info/ticker for now, but will use multiple exchange rate api's in future to protect against any one getting hacked or going down.

4. Dealing with crippled WiFi

Does iOS not detect gated wifi networks already? Android pops up a notification when it spots one of these.

If you vend requests that use the payment protocol and Breadwallet supports it, then you should be able to receive transactions via HTTP(S) directly instead of via the p2p network.

Hey Aaron, you're doing an awesome job with Breadwallet. It's hands down the best iOS wallet currently available, and I always recommend it to all iPhone/iPad owners.

I'm one of the organizers of Arnhem Bitcoincity and developer of our payment processor and point-of-sale solution BitKassa, so we're reaching quite some potential users. Apps like Breadwallet really help a lot in making Bitcoin more accessible for the Average Joe, and getting Bitcoin to turn mainstream!

Now, I do I have some suggestions I'd like to share:

1. Allow entering amount when receiving BTC
When receiving or requesting bitcoins, Breadwallet can only show a QR or copy/paste the address. What's missing here, is the option to specify an amount (in either euros or dollars or bit(coin)s). This allows people to show a QR that anyone can scan and pay immediately, without the hassle of mentioning or specifying the amount separately, and the other person having to enter that manually (with risk of typos, currency rate differences, etc)

2. Lower the fee
Any chance you can lower the default tx fee to 0.00001 BTC per 1000 bytes? This has actually been the default fee setting in Bitcoin Core already since v0.9. And the very commonly used Android Bitcoin Wallet by Andreas Schildbach has been using this fee setting as well for quite some time, always works fine (just very rarely, a tx might take two or three blocks to confirm, but never leads to any problems whatsoever).
The thing is, here in Europe, bank transfers are free. So when comparing Bitcoin to old fashioned banking, the 0.0001 BTC tx fee (approximately 0.03 euros) may actually seem quite expensive in comparison. Especially for microtransactions (e.g. a €1 donation) a 3% fee is relatively expensive. It would make a better case for Bitcoin usage if you apply the new default fee in Breadwallet too.

3. Better estimate for fiat/btc rates
What is your live euro↔bitcoin rate based on? In our payment processor, we use a weighted average of all major exchanges (including Bitstamp, converting USD to EUR according to their own buy rate). Still, we often notice that the amount in fiat displayed by Breadwallet appears to be higher than what seems to be a fair average rate - thus giving users the false impression they're paying more (in euros) than they're supposed to. In order not to give users an over-optimistic estimate of their wallet's current EUR value, is there any chance you can use a more balanced average of various eur/btc converion rates?

4. Dealing with crippled WiFi
In order to push transactions, do you actually connect to Bitcoin nodes directly (i.e. you need port 8333 access for most nodes) or can Breadwallet also use a web stub that works through port 80? The problem is, we quite often experience problems with public WiFi networks that have been limited, e.g. only ports for http(s) and email being accessible. Or even worse, open WiFi networks (in stores or public places) that have no password, but require a one-time login page to accept terms before allowing full internet access. When this happens, people's phones appear to have internet access, but any http request will redirect them to a login page. Now when trying to send a Bitcoin payment it won't work, thus giving the false impression that Bitcoin is having problems, rather than their WiFi / internet connection being crippled.
It would be great if you can 1. push txs through port 80 as well (through external API sites, there's plenty available) and 2. perhaps check if Breadwallet has a working connection, and if not, warn the user "Your internet connection seems to be restricted, perhaps you need to login to your WiFi network?" This may avoid a lot of unnecessary confusion.

I hope this helps in improving BreadWallet. Keep up the good stuff man. Love your work!

I am the author of breadwallet. Try the "rescan blockchain" option in settings if you are having trouble sending. The next update will detect the problem and recommend a rescan, in addition to some minor bug fixes that will make it less likely to get into that situation to begin with.

So I found out where I could receive support - https://itunes.apple.com/app/breadwallet/id885251393 - And I also came to find that someone had or is having the same issues as me as he/she wrote "The app was working great until a few days ago. Now the majority of my payments never complete. I have only made 1 successful payment out of the last 10. Maybe it is a bug from the IOS 8.0.2 update. I have a a concerning amount of BTC stuck in this wallet so hopefully it gets fixed soon. When the bug is fixed I will probably bump my rating up to 5(stars).

I will try to contact them and hopefully this problem does get resolved ASAP!

There is a new update release for iOS 8.1.2 - I will update phone then try out Bread Wallet once again and if that doesn't work, I will then try to back-up and delete/restore...

You need to contact the guys who made the app - NOT Apple, and NOT the Bitcoin Foundation!

app.breadwallet.com

I haven't used bread wallet - I didn't like the fact that they don't use the normal Bitcoin symbol and lingo, but I'm guessing you can back up your wallet by doing the backup phrase. Then try deleting the wallet from your iPhone, reinstalling it, restore the wallet by using the backup phrase, and then try to spend again. Be sure to back up the wallet before deleting it, or your bitcoins will be lost forever!!

Thx 4tha timely response fryarminer! Yes I am quite familiar with the back-up phrase so, what will be the point of backing up wallet if have back-up phrase?  If phone is lost, stolen 0r brakes - the back up phrase will obtain everything back the way it was(supposedly) on device(apple products) of choice.  How would I back it up by the way anyway if I just wanted to make sure?  You mean back up to another device 1st(smart, yes). Which by the way I don't have any other "Apple" devices as this is my very 1st one.

And I wonder why I couldn't find that link > app.breadwallet.com while surfing on the breadwallet site, hummm!  and by the way, it's a great wallet!

Thank-You!
