Could someone quickly describe the intrisic added value of IOTA.
As far as I saw, it is a good project, but I am not sure weither it could compete against the Bitcoin or other established currencies if the latest increase the blockchain size (maybe in term of micropayments only).
Thank you in advance for your help.
Among many things, one unique thing IOTA can do is to provide a lightweight, low overhead cost, no fee, decentralized free marketplace to exchange data for IoT industry and devices which none of other coins including Bitcoin are able to do.
If you want to imagine what is a marketplace, you can imagine companies like Nasdaq and NY stock exchange, eBay and Amazon, uber and airbnb. They are all marketplaces in their own industries. If you think they have intrisic value, you will believe that IOTA has value as well. On top of that, those traditional marketplaces are not decentralized marketplaces and their cost is much higher than decentralized ones.
Thanks for your help, I have now a better understanding. Being young in the cryptocurrency world, I can still IOTA idea as brillant !!
A few other exciting things are Iota being built to withstand an attack from a QUANTUM COMPUTER!! And if you think that doesn't matter now, think again, they're practically here.
Also, it scales. Many, including Bitcoin couldn't even operate if mass adoption occurred.
You heard that right. Even if these other cryptos we too gain attention of the world, and everyone tried to use them, they wouldn't be able to handle the load.
So when you hear all these cryptos saying there are the next step in worldwide currency, most of the time, they full if shit.
When you hear people say Bitcoin will always be the #1 cryptocurrency, that is only if a tiny fraction of the population keep using it. Bitcoin could never handle millions of people trying to use it at once. Even with a larger block size.
Bitcoin is doomed, and Iota is the best replacement out there.
And if you think Ethereum has a chance forget it. To read more on this I will refer you here:
