in which exchange will you be able to trade IOTA?

There is no exchange where you can trade IOTA yet. You can buy directly from others with Escrow now.

I said ''will'' not '' now'' I rephrase!Have you decided yet which exchange we will be able to trade IOTA once is released? Also any ETA, I don't mean Tuesday or precise say but around summer, autumn , or winter?

Thanks

The word from iotatoken is that the team has been in contact with numerous major exchanges and that once the coin is officially released, it should be ready to go on these exchanges. We can only assume this will include exchanges like Poloniex and other high-volume altcoin exchanges but, for now, it's all speculative.

DISCLAIMER:  And whenever I chime in about exchanges, I feel it always my duty to inform everyone to STAY AWAY FROM BTER (Bter.com).  They have been proven to be a scam and have taken hostage numerous withdrawals from users who've waited months without even getting a word.

If you use an altcoin exchange, do everyone a favor and AVOID Bter.  Trust me, you will thank me later.

Any idea of what is going to happen on the Nxt Buyers ? Huh

The asset issuers will have to adjust the amount od iotas, simple as that.

For example, if you bought 1 KIOTA https://nxtportal.org/currencies/10176659922964555108
The asset issuer will have to give you 2,78 new Giga-iotas

Thank you for your quick answer. Grin

At this price level I would use giga-iotas (GI) which is "1" and nine zeros.

@yassin54 : no decimal point missing in your iotas there? That's cheap iota for sure...

1 "old" IOTA is now equal to 2 779 531 "new" IOTA : http://forum.iotatoken.com/t/iota-tech-update/264/1

Thanks.

1 million as the base unit looks pretty good to me. We can call it mega-iota as some suggested. So we will have 2,779,530,283 Mega-iota which is 2.7795 times of the old iota. The one mega-iota's price will be the current old iota price divided by 2.7795. For instance if the current old iota's price is 2000 satoshi, the new mega-iota's price is 2000/2.7795=720 satoshi.

Exactly, using 10M atomic iota as a tradeable IOTA unit is purely for people and to keep a usable liquid market. The backend and m2m still can use atomic units in ternary without trouble.

Why not 100M ? It would be better comparable with BTC and satosis.

I didn't cover my thoughts on 10M in the post but here they are:

This is really about 2 things, making a liquid BTC-paired market possible and trader psychology. Firstly, I think using anything but a power of 10 would be a mistake, so 1, 10, or 100 million atomic iota to IOTA units should be considered.

1M would be a lower bound possibility in my mind, giving a supply of 2,779,530,283 decimalized units. But there are issues with coins trading in the hundreds of satoshi range. This is my own opinion but maybe it's shared. For one the price doesn't seem substantial enough and feel cheap. For USD/GBP/Euro-imprinted traders it can be hard to translate a price of 1000 satoshis into what they're used to using in day to day life. 10M on the other hand would be priced near USD cents.

100M would be an upper bound, giving a total supply of 27,795,302 decimalized units. I don't believe this supply is enough and would lead to the tokens looking too expensive. I could be wrong about this, and perhaps perceived scarcity could have a positive effect on price. But I don't think it would help liquidity.

10M carves a good balance between the extremes. The total decimalized supply of IOTA ends up being 277,953,028.3277761. The price (at current OTC IOU rates at least) would fall at about 0.0001 BTC/IOTA. This leaves plenty of room for the token's price to go up or down and still have a functional liquid market. It has enough value to not seem borderline worthless for 1 like NXT or XRP does. Its value could be more easily measured in cents or pence for the bulk of us who are accustomed to thinking of monetary value in those terms.

If not power of 10, then rather power of 3... In ternary. But trading unit not for math people, it's for traders. right it is psychology. Then rather power of 10...
