When countries like Iran is going to use BTC to bypass sanctions etc, it's going to have a negative effect upon BTC. Then the US will have no option to get free reign on BTC wallets, as in get the option to be able to freeze any wallet or totally ban BTC and make having it illegal and start putting people into prison for having them as if they were drugs.

He went on saying the crypto currency has two aspects: Economic and infrastructural. “We as the main centre in Iran dealing with the country’s technology developments have taken very seriously the issue of preparing the infrastructure for the new currency.”

The Iranian official went on saying such digital infrastructure are part of the soft power of each country and said entrance of the currency into Iran will end up in the general interests of the country.

“Arrangement are being made with the related organizations to put together the infrastructure as early as possible.”

This is guy has obviously no clue what bitcoin is.
Probably some publicity stunt like their famous invisible aircraft that was actually an rc toy.

Infrastructure? What the hell is he talking about? There is no need for infrastructure, it's clear that somebody must go and check bitcoin wiki for a few days before giving interviews.

And the whole "soft power" thing is clearly propaganda.
Might be nice for Iran to adopt bitcoin, this guy won't be the one doing it.

I am glad for Iranians. They will get an access to the world finance market. For business creating Bitcoin infrastructure will not make sense in a short term period. But for people of Iran this is amazing possibilities!  Shocked

This is a good step towards a digital economy and I hope this is all true. Maybe this country saw the benefits of having bitcoin I just pray that time will come that more country or even the majority of countries will start adopting the digital currencies especially bitcoin in their economy and bitcoin will become a legal currency of the world.

If the news is true that Iran is planning is to adopt bitcoin, then I am sure its price will rise further. Because it will give license for all Iranians to buy and keep bitcoins safely without any problems. But I doubt the authenticity of this news. I don't think middle eastern countries will accept bitcoin so soon .They will accept. But will take time for that. Recently even UAE also warned all cryptocurrency users in Dubai.

The Iranian government has been conducting research into the economic and infrastructural aspects of preparing for bitcoin use in its country. According to the ministry of information technology, “arrangements are being made” to put together the infrastructure for the digital currency “as early as possible.”

We are facing a truly "golden" age for bitcoin. I guess more and more country will adopt bitcoin as part of their IT.

The fundamental truth is that in this era of technological advancement, virtually all the countries are kept up to date concerning current happenings around the world and the opportunity for close to equal development is open if anyone can tap in. This is something that all the countries are considering not t be left behind even if the entire population is not ready for it, those who are ready will be carried along.

The difference in the countries, is that while some countries are announcing their efforts, others are setting up committees to look into the several efforts and road map to be adopted or not. But in all there will always be political connotations to every decisions that will be made.

A few sources say Venezuela may adopt bitcoin as their official country. Experts say that Venezuelan inflation could go as high as 1,600%, leaving many people without basic necessities. As the value of hard currency changes drastically—and often—there are a few developing or recession-hit countries finding Bitcoin as an innovative solution. Zimbabwe also. It will be interesting to see the adoption of cryptocurrencies by different governments. I'm personally on board, it's certainly better than banning it.

That' awesome. Usually, when governments talk about Bitcoin, it's usually about crafting regulations or about warning its citizens of its use. It's a breath of fresh air because they're actually preparing their country for mass adoption.

As for the infrastructure necessary, what could those be? Better mobile internet connectivity? I don't think there's anything special and Bitcoin-specific that needs to be done.

But there are still few countries that are banning bitcoin trading. I find banning trading of bitcoin completely useless as people can easily trade bitcoin without getting into government's sight through peer to peer platforms like localbitcoins.

Those countries might also uplift their ban on bitcoin trading when there will be enough infrastructure or guidelines developed by other countries which they can just copy and paste.

Iran's geo political situation is entirely different from other countries.
Iran has already suffered a lot due to US sanctions and its economy has been very much affected due to it.
In such a situation, bitcoin has arrived as a blessing to iran.
Iran has already been discussing about using bitcoin to bye pass US sanctions.
Now,it has started to take initial steps to adopt bitcoin.
If iran adopts bitcoin, then US sanctions would have no effect on iran's economy.
Very soon,it could join the main stream of development.

A kind of worry, I hope iran does not politicize bitcoin. so bitcoin is considered a means for committing crime and terrorism.

The article seems incomplete, but they might build infrastructures for Bitcoin mining since Iran has a natural gas reserves and also has crude oil reserves which means they can use these to provide energy to support Bitcoin Mining. Does the article has any other sources or any other news about Iran's plan on Bitcoin?.

the thing is, the adoption of bitcoin went to the moon in Iran in the past year. everyone is talking about it, trading it and buying bitcoin and altcoins. now that this much money is involved suddenly and in a short time, the government is thinking about looking more into bitcoin.

so far the official statement was "bitcoin is a digital cash" and not much talk about any regulation or taxes or anything like that. but it was legal and was being traded.
now central bank is saying bitcoin should be "commodity" and be considered something under the Stock Exchange and under their supervision (or whatever the hell that means).

I don't imagine what those organizations are. Nor what is the infrastructure. Even setting up a network of nodes doesn't require much. Or do they want to get into mining? More information is clearly needed.
it means they are looking into it to decide what to do since they know they can not ban bitcoin.
i doubt there will be any mining though ..

Iran wants to feel important in international arena. There is Turkey next, after Iran. The Middle East wants to remove old mistakes and delays.
