I don't think that the question of Bitcoin going mainstream is based on any technology or techical solution. It's the question of legal matter and regulation, technology is.just one tinny part.
5G together with other technologies can bring and probably will bring kind of revolution, especially in the field of artificial intelligence, internet of things and similar but it will not help Bitcoin to become mainstream currency.

I would like to see a stable 5G network deployment first before making any such statements. 5G nodes need to be set up within close distance from each other in order to have it function the best.

I have seen some reviews where when you're close to a node speeds can go up to 1gb/s, but when you stand behind a building like 10 meters from a node, the speeds drop far under 100mb/s, which is not good at all.

I think it has been pushed out too fast. I get that there are latency benefits over 4G, but what benefit is there when you can't utilize it everywhere? It needs years more of development to be stable enough to use.

I'm not sure how 5G technology would make blockchain technology better or more mainstream, the technology provides better and faster network connections from my understanding of it, which I guess could help the BTC networks? Not completely sure in the current state.

I think the arrival of 5G wireless technology will not make a big impact on crypto adoption to go mainstream! The fact that its most notable improvement is an increase in speed only and has minimal influence on current blockchain technology innovations right now!

Perhaps, one way of achieving mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies is to educate people about it and demonstrate its benefits, ease of use, exhibit a sense of its security so that they maybe enticed to try it out and ultimately adopt it, which could be achieved even without considering the need for 5G technology at least for now.
Problem is though, BTC doesn't require a fast network connection, it just needs more merchants accepting the coin right now, and 5G doesn't really help that all.

One of the hottest and most anticipated upcoming technology trends for 2019 is the Fifth Generation (5G) wireless network technology. Rumored to start the new internet of things epoch! Knowing that there is a lot of crypto startups that are using blockchain for various interconnectivity applications and purposes, do you think this might be a good chance for crypto to go more mainstream implementing itself with the new opportunity for decentralized data storing and thus decentralized internet of things?

The 5G wireless technology has already been in use for quite some time now in many countries. There is no need to speak of it as if it is still coming and people are still anticipating on it. It has arrived and I can say that there is much improvement in terms of speed.

There may not be direct influence of the 5G technology to the growth of crypto but since crypto is basically built on the internet as one of its foundations, 5G is going to certainly contribute to crypto's success.

I don't think so. What crypto needs to go mainstream is for people to raise awareness to crypto, but not necessarily 5G is needed to do so. I saw Facebook Libra as a way to raise awareness that such digital currencies are existing and its benefits, but its launch is being doubted. If more establishments such as businesses open support for bitcoin and other altcoins as payment, then maybe more investors would patronize bitcoin, booming its price in the market.

In fact, blockchain can completely support many different types of businesses in the world. China already has 5G, and it works on a tech business without blockchain. But 5G belongs to the signal wave, it cannot be distributed to the whole world and the use of blockchain technology is redundant.

I recently read many articles and news regarding the inevitable coming into the market of the 5G technology which is expected to do wonders for the Internet of Things (IoT) revolution. It is estimated that as early as 2025 there would be estimated 100 billion IoT connections all over the globe which can be enough to catapult the dream of smart cities, smart gadgets and smart homes to the higher level. Such will be the impact of the 5G technology that it can be considered as a magnificent game-changer. However, the big question is this: Will 5G be helping Bitcoin and the blockchain technology? Among many things that maybe we have not seen, I think that the number one benefit is the dramatic jump on speed of transactions. I am not a technical person so maybe I would not be expounding on how can that be possible but suffice it to say that this can be the most obvious change we might experience in cryptocurrency using the 5G technology. Will this thing be a big catalyst towards more adoption of cryptocurrency? Yes, it can be helping though we should not expect 5G to be like a big miracle.
