I’m new to making payments via crypto.  I’ve had a Robinhood account & dabbled in crypto for over a year. But I just recently set up a coinbase acct & funded it with majority ADA as I was told it has low gas fees for payments.  It seems most folks only accept bitcoin on these forums.  How many of you accept ADA or other altcoins for payment?
You can deal with ADA and almost any other altcoins if it has any value but forum has nothing to do with, it has marketplace section so where you can offer ADA for services or if you want to convert It into bitcoin which is also possible, all you need is to find someone who accept ADA as payment.

if I see you entered the wrong forum where this forum the main payment is bitcoin according to the name of the bitcointalk forum,
if you want to find a forum where the majority of the pay is 'ADA coin' doesn't exist yet
but it is possible that one day there will be a bounty paid by ADA coin

BTC transactions are not so costly and accepted in most places. Bitcoincash and Litecoin comes as the next payment option. People also consider stable coin better option while transacting as it keeps the value of product or service constant. There are several other service that even takes payment as crypto but converts the to fiat. A specific example in favor of stable coin is these middleman services that takes 10% commission while paying with other crypto while none while paying with stable coins.

What do you mean accept bitcoin on these forum? We also have this board the altcoin market so everyone is accepted here not just bitcoin.

The only thing is obviously, we love bitcoin here, so majority is bitcoin maximalist or at least majority of our portfolio are BTC. But if you personally wanted to use ADA then by all means used it.

I'm just here because I collect physical crypto & that's always bitcoin only.  I ended up selling my ADA for BTC & everything worked out in the end.

As long as I do some transactions on multiple exchange platforms and follow some bounty campaigns or others with ADA payouts it doesn't seem to exist, dominant payment of Token/Coin, USDT, and BUSD. For the exchange platform, it depends on the platform itself whether to provide the menu or not, but if Coinbase has provided it, just continue.
As you know, the ecosystem and recent changes are not enough to meet our needs with it. But after all the hype we can also make very good early investments with ADA, I still don't see many interesting projects on the ADA platform. Maybe the future will show us a diverse ecosystem.

YodasGreenRocket- yes, very few will accept ada here as payment in the marketplace. Secondly, the regular marketplace HAS to allow for btc payments in any auction/sale, but as long as you list btc as an option, you can ask for payment any other way you want. I’ll tell you from years of experience here, very few will accept ada in marketplace.

(Btw hopefully you own a hardware wallet)

Since this is Bitcointalk forum, It's normal that people will mostly preferred Bitcoin over Altcoins(ADA) but that doesn't mean people don't accept ADA as payment for service or product here. ADA just recently introduced there smart contract which finally gave ADA a value for real but many of its competitors like Tron, Matic and BNB already become famous here due to tons of dapps that accepts these respective tokens.

But since ADA is in top 10 marketcap, Many people will accept it if you ask if they are accepting this token since there's enough liquidity to convert the tokens in to fiat quickly.

everyone has a choice in payment, actually without explaining that we understand in this forum people hope to get paid BTC nothing else, even if there are coins from projects that hold bounties on this forum, try checking in the sub Marketplace (Altcoins).

It depends on the person or store you are interacting with, for me I will gladly accept ADA as means of payment because it's a good altcoin it's pointless not accepting this coin for payment because the present value when one received that payment is the most important part, if you don't like it you can just exchange to BTC or other you preferred.

Just for info, this is, was and it will be a BITCOIN forum, the altcoin section is just a side effect which was allowed to have it's own section.

Looking for services to pay with ADA in the bitcoin section, won't help you.

Sorry to say, but after the ADA hype and the failures with the issues with the smart contracts, now ADA is more like a stable coin. I hope that changes tho.

Back to the topic paying with anything different than bitcoin outside the ALTs section won't go.

Gotcha!  To be clear, for payments, I am only purchasing physical crypto items like the Satoris, MoonBits etc.  on a Facebook Crypto group I bought a coin with fiat.  That particular seller mentioned he preferred paying with ADA & that stuck with me.  I also am going to fund my acct with bitcoin for future transactions..  As far as this forum goes, you are correct.. it would make sense a bitcoin forum prefers payments in bitcoin lol.  Live & learn.

Bitcoin was also very cheap and it's widely accepted by so many entities and this is more popular than ada. Some service or people may accept ADA but again just because bitcoin is priced so high and that makes bitcoin transaction cost a lot of fees. If you are able using bitcoin segwit and this will be very fast and cheap. Other than ADA and most of people in here are also accepting stable token as payment for service or something else.

How many of you accept ADA or other altcoins for payment?
I rarely seen people accept ADA but if it's about another altcoins for payment and so many people in here prefer to use stable token or ethereum. Im using some who used another token like tron and fantom as payment too.

Being a person who has been in this industry for a year, I can quite see that you don't bother to read that much about this industry and just read a bit what is convenient. I suggest you change that attitude and try to learn more. That is, if you take being in this industry seriously.

Best thing you should have done is after determining what you want to use your crypto for then read which coins have the best use cases that fits to your needs and is the most convenient for you. Because if you did, you would've noticed that there are several options available for you and your question right now would've been different.

Dude, as long as it holds value, it is going to be accepted. All it comes down to is the person's personal preferences. Which varies but you will see that not everyone only accepts the top coins as payment. Maybe your transactions are with people who also haven't been in this industry for long or doesn't want any hassle? Either way, reading about what you are interested in hugely helps. Good day op.

For the forum, the official coins here being accepted are BTC and GRIN IIRC.
Nope! As for theymos' latest update, grin payments are currently not accepted.

The problem with taking ADA as a means of payment is that, unlike BTC, it is not generally recognized. The difference in transaction costs between the two coins isn't far away, either. Unless you accept money on a daily basis, saving a penny or two won't make any difference.

Even if you use bitcoin, and you're a freelancer working on a contract basis, having one or two one-time payments wouldn't be too expensive. You can just simply monitor the required sats/vbyte[1] to save fees as much as you can.

Must the receiver ask for any particular coin or token? ADA has good volume and liquidity so there is zero risk in accepting as payment, I will definitely accept any type of coins and tokens for means of payment from top 20 to top 40 on coinmarketcap list, the current value is all that matters.

It probably would depend on the person receiving your payment. If they believe that they would benefit from receiving payments in ADA, then they would. Just post it or something and maybe someone would be willing to trade their services with ADA. It's a great asset to hold so I don't think it would be hard to use. Just use the altcoins section if you are going to use it or offer services etc.

Payment for services? Theres a marketplace for altcoins but ofcourse general accepted here is bitcoin. I wonder what kind of transaction you needed to use ada herr in forum. You can literally convert that into btc and use it here. Much simpler than using alts. Majority of services here wants btc so it would be wise to use btc instead.

Low gas fees should not be the determinant of your choice of cryptocurrency. Sure you can trade it easily and quickly with low fees but does it help in decentralization or cesnsorship-resistance like bitcoin does? You are free in this aspect and nobody is forcing you to use one currency. But if you are going to do business with others, you have to accept the one that is most popular to cater to the needs of majority.

There is an Marketplace (Altcoins) section. However it gets very little attention compared to the global Marketplace section where bitcoin is only mode of transaction.
