Hello, Everyone should have own research and understanding about market. I personally prefer Bitcoin and Scitoken (SciDex). I think so, maybe altcoin could potentially grow larger than bitcoin, and in terms of risk, altcoin might be safer than a new token. 
It may or may not depending on your preference but personally, investing in altcoins is one of the best way to invest. However, you must know everything about the altcoin that you want to invest in before diving into it so you will also have an idea about the potential of the coin.
Plus:1.) We must be prepared to wait for the return of our investments for a considerable amount of time, that is, the money must be in free possession (without credit, etc.)

I do think Yes because most of the crypto millionaire today are altcoin investors.
Investing on Bitcoin is painful today and that's why investing on altcoins instead will offer higher rewards and earnings than Bitcoin.
for Example, I invested Mithrill last month while the price was as low as $0.16 cents but today the price was pumped as high as around and almost $2.
investing on altcoins for me as a technology geek is far way better than investing on local stock market.

It's okey if you like altcoins. But I think one project isn't the competitor of others. Though there are different project already launched and people are going to invest there. I also like SciDex coin, altcoins, BTC, bitcoin. But don't think each project is the competitor of other projects.
I can say yes it is one of the best investment in this era. But important to note, it will be the best when we really know how to invest wisely and smartly in altcoins. Why? Because many investors lost their money when investing in altcoins because of the wrong strategy and analysis. Here in altcoins, it must require huge patience, very good strategy to hold or sell, careful analysis, and update. When we are ready enough for those things, we can use the altcoin greatly to gain huge profits.

It is always good investment, because part of them are cheap. And maybe sometime they'll grow in the price.
