I'm really proud to be a part of this discussion, I think bitcoin can be both, it depends on which name would you use for it, for me, it is digital gold. yesterday I came to know that the rate of bitcoin is greater than gold, I would love to call it as a digital gold.
You don't need to choose from those two because bitcoin has it all. Bitcoin is digital gold because of its expensive growing price and that is faster than gold growth price and also digital cash because you can use it to pay things online or even bills and bitcoin is also getting accepted in offline stores so it is all around.

No btc is not gold.It is digital cash.I think btc is better than gold.
It's different for each and every person. If you see and use Bitcoin as a form of digital cash, then it's exactly that. If you see and use Bitcoin as digital gold, then it's exactly that.

I fit in the latter category. Bitcoin for me is digital gold, or gold 2.0 as some people like to name it. Bitcoin's advantage is that you enjoy a far higher level of usability compared to gold.

It's easy to move from one place to another anywhere in the world, it's extremely divisible, there is no bulk, fixed supply, and the list goes on. I see only advantages.

Bitcoin is supposed to be a digital currency, or can say digital cash, it should be a medium for payment but with the recent increase in txfee and issue of bitcoin not fit to buy a coffee, bitcoin is now moving to being digital gold.  Bitcoin store of value is awesome, giving profits to those who holds.  So I guess Bitcoin is both digital gold and digital cash.

Bitcoin can be aligned more with cash than with gold. After all, gold, in itself, natural metal. This is how to compare money and naphtha. Gold is now more a commodity than a means of buying and selling.

Bitcoin is still treated as a commodity in etf proposal, I agree with you but if seen as an asset, bitcoin is more towards digital gold, this is my personal understanding though the fact is bitcoin is a very flexible digital money. It doesn't look different but I impose all assets are the same.

I treat bitcoin as both for now. Well, sometimes I see that bitcoin is just like gold. Has a high price. But some people use it as money, so I also use bitcoin as gold, and digital money. Bitcoin is very flexible, and can be used as a tool of business and money simultaneously.

Bitcoin is a decentralized digital currency that allows any two willing parties to conduct transactions anywhere around the world. Bitcoin is a payment method accepted both by online and offline shops and in the last few years has become one of the most successful investment opportunities.

I think Bitcoin is both digital gold and cash, because if you take it as investment then it is like gold and it can be liquidated when ever wanted without any problem like when ever you are in need of fiat currency for expenses then you can sell them in the exchange and full fill your needs. So it is working both type

I think this is a good thing, I'm more glad bitcoin gold because if digital cash equal to store numbers, much but its worth a little because it is always exposed to inflation.
As of now bitcoin is more on being gold because it is not yet accepted to the stores as a payment method because it is not that popular yet and bitcoin is just getting popularity from this past few months and the few countries are just starting to notice bitcoin as a potential currency so this time, bitcoin is just like a gold but it will be like cash soon.
Responses such as this really expose the flaws of this poll. By comparing bitcoin to gold and cash there must be some qualities of each that you must be talking about. Are we talking about exclusively gold as value storage and cash as a payment method? If so, then you are right about bitcoin becoming more like cash eventually but being like gold in the present. Your point about inflation does not really make much sense, however. Bitcoin is in limited supply while other currencies are not. Regular cash goes through inflation because of the currency it is part of, not because it is cash. That is also beside the point, given that those do not seem to be the qualities being discussed in this thread.

Maybe it will be on how the way we treat it or it could be how the way we prefer it should be.
Usage. How do you use it?
In my personal experience I use it as a means of payment for my electric bill so that is like digital cash.
On the other hand, I think of it as a commodity like gold. It grows in terms of value and those are large numbers unlike fiat.
You can invest on it and somhow will profit more after a few years.

I think there are similarities with gold, but it's not digital gold, it's digital cash as it's money used to buy anything other currencies can buy, since the cheap coofee until the expensive plane, boat...
What makes persons believe it's digital gold it's because the bitcoin is profitable on long run, like gold, while another traditional currencies are very stable or are dying on long run.

I use Bitcoin in various ways. It's a store of wealth solution, investment solution, remittance solution. It doesn't matter what label you stick on Bitcoin -- Bitcoin is whatever you want it to be. It's a multi functional tool. People have the freedom to use Bitcoin how they want. That's why it really annoys me if people say 'Bitcoin isn't meant for this or that'. Mind your own business!

Too many naysayers against these digital currency. What has marked in the mind of people is that bitcoin is a currency used in illegal transactions like the Silkroad and it has no future. Even some of my friends are saying that it’s just a scam and it will fade through time. They are giving up in something without giving it a try.
Bitcoin is whatever you want it to be!! Yes, the limits of it is how people will go on with the flow of its usage. If everyone decided that bitcoin will act as a reserve and as a treasure that only be needed when we are pushed into the corner, then it will be hard to be a bitcoin payer here and there while almost everyone is keeping it and it will be hard for us to be a keeper if everyone keeps on spending it. It can be used in a several ways, but you must also keep in mind on how people circulate it. The bottom-line is there are different usage and different opinions of people and different perception on how bitcoin will be at its best use. We’ve got a long way to go and I think whatever way you will use it, there is a brighter road ahead.

I considered it as both things because we do know about bitcoin it serves as digital cash because we can able to use it on purchasing things online and other payment options that do accept bitcoin which is really great and also its also a digital gold considering on its moving price which is can be also served as an investment just like gold. Its price do increase and also deflates.

You haven't mentioned a single thing that makes Bitcoin look like digital gold. All you say is that the price of Bitcoin is moving, that you can use it as investment option, plus its value goes up and down -- such description fits many things. It's mind boggling how empty the posts in this last page are (also previous ones). Nothing informational, nothing helpful. It's all gibberish....
Well, to be honest, it doesn't seem like a majority of users have a great grasp on economics or making allegories, I won't say I'm amazing at it either but that's mostly what you get when there's an incentive to have quantity of posts with decent quality over high quality. Not that it really matters that much for most users, sadly.

As for Bitcoin being either digital money or digital gold, it fills the niche between the two quite nicely. Definitely not really able to lump Bitcoin into one or the other, as it serves both purposes well.
