Do you think Bitcoin is completely finished since the developers will no longer work on it and are suggesting to use alternatives including Bitcoin Cash?

Is this ship going to sink completely and the coins will be more like memorabilia?

no its not, thats why we are still seing forks and segwits because they are still working on it and keeps on improving bitcoin and no, they are not suggesting people to use some kind of alternative coins like bitcoincash just because they think that bitcoincash is better than bitcoin. this ship is not going to sink even if no more developments will occur, bitcoin will still be used just like a regular currency to buy or sell online and offline.

Jihan Wu has a Master's Degree in Reverse Psychology.

SegWit2X and Bitcoin Cash are ultimatums posed to the Core team: solve the scalability problem OR ELSE we will destroy you.

What do you think of that theory?

They've been trying for several years now without success. All the while increasing hostility has been bred. Do you think anyone's going to give ground now?

The only thing that's going to decide it now is the market's vote.

It really depends. Up until now, the Core team have assumed they don't need to compromise, it's their way or the highway. They just assumed the bitcoin name and network effect would see them through. However, all that infrastructure can easily be adapted to ether, ltc, bch and other alts, and we're going to see users start to migrate when it comes to actually using services.

What will then happen is that the Core developers will HAVE to come up with solutions, rather than see their coin die (and all their money die with it).

What is happening now is healthy competition - without competition, people get complacent.

Well, no one answered the question, I would like to know too: Is Bitcoin finished? No more development over it? (No forks)
What are the expectatives?

It's too early to have sure about something now, but news say some big guys and businesses are moving themselves completely to Bitcoin Cash because it's more optimized than Bitcoin and by 2018 they want to turn Bitcoin Cash into the main Crypto-Currency. If Bitcoin keeps freezed I think the risk of an event like that happen is high...

You can drop by Github if you have the time and see for yourself. Core developers are working silently day by day to fix and improve whatever they can in the coin. Also, if bitcoin is a finished opus magnum, there's no point in other factions forking it since there are nothing to add on its features, stability and whatnot.

Good to know. Well, so there isn't much to worry about the concurrency, they are trying to cause an impression on the market that they are going to become the main power with Bitcoin Cash soon considering their advantages over Bitcoin and considering Bitcoin is a dead currency from the development point of view. Without information it's easy to believe it as they speak too loud. I stay with Bitcoin and as developers are working silently day by day, the expectatives are good to fix what must be fixed to optimize the users experience with Bitcoin.

There is trouble abrewing
first of all bitcoin is working fine, it worked fine even before all this drama heated up last year. secondly development of bitcoin will never stop even if all the current developers dropped dead. it is not like they are the only people in the world who know how to code. and finally they are not going anywhere, the development is still active and strong.

these side projects, some of which trying to take over, will come and go and their developers give up because they can no longer achieve their goals. that has nothing to do with bitcoin.

There is no development to the bitcoinm and bitcoin was not under control by party just like fake bitcoin as the bitcoin cash itself. Bitcoin cash is not alternative because that was controlling by some party and full with politician. You must try to stay away from there.

Well, in fact, it has been receiving some updates during the last few months,

You're adding to the confusion.

Bitcoin Classic was one of the previous and failed fork proposals similar to Bitcoin XT and others. I think they were aiming for 2MB blocks. They had a bit of signalling then slowly dwindled to nothing.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitcoin_Classic

I'm surprised they were still going in any capacity and perhaps now the people involved are contributing to BCH development.

Here's their statement about it - https://bitcoinclassic.com/news/closing.html

Bitcoin, which is run on software developed by Core, is still trundling along busy as ever.

Well, in fact, it has been receiving some updates during the last few months, and those updates came in form of "forks" If you remember it, bitcoin cash was a fork in order to make transactions go much more faster than before, and this changed a lot because of this.
And then bitcoin gold was to fix some other things about the transactions, but it was a shitty fork and it did not work. Segwit was going to be one of the most biggest forks that bitcoin was going to have, but it got cancelled..

i think you need to post this in the alt section as you're not talking about bitcoin. development is as feverish as ever.

are you referring to bitcoin classic? their development was shit and irrelevant anyway. they have what they want with bcash so there's no point in them doing any more work.

So are Bitcoin and Bitcoin Classic different? Is Bitcoin same as Bitcoin Core?

Ok just read the answer on this same thread: Bitcoin Classic ≠ Bitcoin Core.

Bitcoin Classic ≠ Bitcoin Core.

 Lips sealed

Read more carefully with all these altcoins and forks.

Aah... I was wondering what the OP was talking about. I didn't ever realize he was alluding to Bitcoin Classic. It is so easy to get misled if you just superficially follow Bitcoin. there is nobody to protect the Bitcoin brand.

I don't see why you feel that bitcoin development is finished, the coin is constantly evolving and will continue to do so as long as there is enough support, forks only occur when there is a split in opinion for direction of the coin.

The people who manipulate the markets timed it exquisitely: canceling the SegWit2X fork, the confusion about the Bitcoin Classic altcoin and the Bitcoin Cash' EDA.
