For me, Bitcoin is more like an investment, rather than a form of money. Unlike fiat currency, I can't purchase most of the household items with Bitcoin. Right now, I can use Bitcoin only for gambling, and for minor purchases. So as a form of currency, it is not performing that well. But it has given me decent returns in the past 3-4 years. So, as an investment asset, it is doing OK.

Well i see and understand your point ,bitcoin still have several walls to cross, sure bitcoin todays is used mostly at internet and there isnt yet a company to buy and sell stuffs, openbazar project should bring new vision into this ,and maybe bitcoin can become more interesting to others as the prices should drop against ebay and others companies.

Yes to me its same as real money. Now a days there are many services that can used using bitcoins, also the amount of time and real cash money people are investing in bitcoins is too much. so yeah its similar to real money.

That is cool. Right, there are lot of different stores now that accepts bitcoin and using it as a real money could be the greatest way to circulate bitcoin and let it more be known through anything online.
Indeed. There is already a lot of online and offline stores that accept Bitcoin as payment method.

Now over many sectors they have started accepting bitcoin.
This does't mean bitcoin is real money. We should understand that bitcoin is growing or the users are getting increased.

I see bitcoin as any other currency that I use on a daily basis

I like to have bitcoin as an alternative so yes bitcoin is just as real to me.
Yes bitcoin can be considered as a alternative currency. It has got the same value as a local currencies and use of the bitcoin is increasing simultaneously over all sectors.

There's a consistent theme that I see popping up on here that I find rather fascinating, and that is the way that many posters perceive BTC.

What do I mean? People doing things with BTC that they'd never, ever dream of doing with their dollars - gambling as an 'investment', or gambling at all, pouring coins into bullshit investment schemes run by totally anonymous showers of shit, lending on here to shambolic morons, asking the question 'where do I get free coins?'

Considering how much of a pain up the arse it can be to obtain coins and keep them safe and their future potential, I find it bizarre that there's such an extreme disconnect. I would've thought it should be at the opposite end of the scale but that's clearly not the case for many.

Why do you think this attitude has developed and where do you stand yourself?
yes bitcoin is rel money for me,bitcoin same a real money,i can buy something with money or bitcoin, and bitcoin have more value for me,because it can be traded and fluctuate.

Bitcoin is real money to me, because i can use it like the other currencies to make deals and trades online and can spend it everywhere simply without difficulties usually.

But in my country, it is very hard to find any shops for daily needs with the bitcoin payments. Moreover I do not have many bitcoins to spend it as a real money right now.

Of course Bitcoin is real money to me. S&H Green Stamps were real money to me because you could buy real stuff with them. Isn't that what we think of when we think of money? What can I buy with this much money, bitcoins, green stamps.

If it could be used for buying, selling things, then i would say it's real money, even it doesn't have a physical form.

In wikipedia, Money is any item or verifiable record that is generally accepted as payment for goods and services and repayment of debts in a particular country or socio-economic context, or is easily converted to such a form.

Bitcoin is real money for me, at least you can easily make trades and deals online with your coins and buy/sell services and goods easily using Bitcoin. And also, nowadays many marketplaces are using Bitcoin as payment processor online

I do not have enough bitcoin to use it as real money. In my country only online shopping on very few sites is possible for bitcoin spending.
To be honest, you don't really need to have a lot of Bitcoin in order to use it as real money. As long as you have a few satoshis, then you are fine. Tongue

One would need more than some satoshi to be fine, don't you think?
However, I do consider bitcoin like real money. If we can buy stuff with it or use it to transfer money to other people then it surely is money to me.
I'm just being sarcastic, but sure you will need more than a few satoshis.
If I can buy foods in my city with Bitcoin, it is more than enough for me to consider it as real money. Cheesy

Precisely. But in my city, you can't really buy anything with Bitcoin.
It is real money to me but not to others in my city. :O
